See below...
Question on this site...I see there's a coupon to take $15 off a membership plan, can that be used towards the 1 a month $14.99 plan? If so that would make it a free membership, although you could only rent 1 a month but still.....

Looks like they are upgrading their site....

Welcome Members and Non-Members

First, we must apologize for the construction. Scheduled upgrades duringthe holiday weekend took slightly longer than expected.
All member accounts will be activated,
and the site brought up, once we
have verified complete functionality.
More later,
Thank you so much for your patience.
PS. All shipments are on schedule and not affected by the site downtime.

I just got one in today postmarked Jan 14. It seems they are alive and well still.

I'm not getting the DNS look-up error any longer.

Has anyone been able to reach the website? I got in for a short time on Monday, but since then it's impossible. And they are not replying to emails. Does anyone have the phone number for their customer service?

go to nymmedia.com Just as good as netdvdflix but they have two distribution sites so you get movies quicker.

Sorry about the multiple postings!

Thanks for the info about nymmedia -- I've used them in the past and might have to use them again, but Netdvdflix (while it functioned) was much less expensive because of the $15.00 per month discount.

Another problem is that if I can't get onto the website, I can't cancel my membership!

Well, I guess, getting up and running didnt happen as of yet, so I'm not sure now what is going on. I guess its just a waiting game, so sit back and be patient like I am doing and cross your fingers. I encourage every subscriber to call the Customer Service Number (469-964-5400) to Inquire for themselves. I would think that they are going to lose alot of business if they dont get it going soon.

I have been waiting for a while to get a new movie and I think I have been charged. I guess I will wait to see what is happening as well.

I called customer service, got voice mail. I left a voice mail to have them call me back.

I'm not getting the DVD's in a "2 out" fashion. I'm getting maybe 1.5 a month at the rate they've been going. If necessary I will charge back via the credit card company. Email wasn't bounced, but not replied to either.

The guy called back. He sounded sincere, he called at 8:30 on a Friday evening.

They have had a run of bad luck, he did say that when things got back up I should call back and he would take care of me. Without the system, they have no records of what to send out and to whom.

Given the folks called back, I'll give them another chance.

Well at least that is good news. It is funny though that they did have records for who to charge. I will give them a break. I do understand that things happen. Let's hope that it is not too much longer.

I talked with Jim last friday and i thought things would be up and running by this week, i'm not getting my proper rentals either, i got 1 of 2, they need to really expedite this and get things rolling, I know they better not have charged me for rentals i did not get!! Like everyone else has said i'm wnat to give them a chance because he seems sincere but come on, this is a business and i expect to get what i paid for.

I'm getting a bit discouraged myself. I've talked to Jim and he does seem sincere, but that was 2 weeks ago when he assured me they were working around the clock to get things up and running. Nothing has happened since, and the dvd's are slow in comming. I may just have to cancel my subscription...my patience is running out. If anyone hears anything new, please keep us all posted. I'm giving them until March 1st to get their act together.

I talked to Jim @ netdvdflix again tonight and he said they are still having difficulties in getting the site up and running. Apparently they encoutered a virus that shut down the whole system. They haven't been able to access their systems and haven't been shipping any cd's for the past 2 weeks. He keeps hoping and so do I. We'll see.......

I was charged in January. My shipments too have stopped. I have set the end of the week for a dead line. It does not take this long to restore/rebuild a system.

The questioin now becomes. . . How do you cancle? Call him? Again, I find it intersting that the accounts were taken down by the virus but the billing part of the database is still running (though of course they can be two different systems). Again, I am still willing to give time but it makes you wonder.

Well i checked my statement on-line and they didn't charge. I guess if they can't send them out they can't charge. I caled Jim and left a voicemail yesterday he didn't respond. So how long this will go on is beyond me.

I've also been checking my credit card charges closely and have not been billed by them since December and I haven't received any DVDs since then either. I emailed them a couple of times to ask about things and I was told they were working on upgrading the web site. That was in early January.

I agree that it doesn't take two months to get a site up and running. I was thinking that maybe they've been closed down by the state of Texas or the fed goverment for sending x-rated materials across state lines. I believe that's still illegal in some states. However, that's just conjecture.

In any event, at least they're not charging,

I don't think its anything about sending stuff through the mail. There's places you can't send to, etc. and there's plenty of places renting adult DVD's.

I found it odd that things went sounth on Jan 1, at year change.

I've moved on the nymmedia, they seem to have a good selection, and the availabilty is decent.

I agree SugU, nymmedia has a good decent collection and they ship them in the order you want, i had a time with netdvd flix, trying to get my rental queue in the order i wanted to see them, it was out of whack and i asked them about it on several occasions, but they claimed to be working on it. I would want to see a move that was in the 20th position and move it to no. 3 but their system would put that video to 13 and so on. It was a mess, then i would have 2 top 2 movies that i would be dying to see and their status always was "usually no wait" so that means it shoudl be shipped? Why they kept skipping over these two titles was beyond me.

let us know how Nymmedia is treating you folks, I may make a change here very soon. I hope I can cancel with netdvdflix without much hassle. They owe me a deposit.

I also had the same trouble with the queue and e-mailed and received an answer that seemed not to make sense but I thought to myself "oh well I am getting movies so why complain."

NYMEDIA.COM seems much better on the queue thing for sure. So far NYMEDIA.COM seems to be working out even if they are much more expensive. SIGH.

yeah I know, i have 3 rentals and it's 43.99 but since i'm not paying netdvdflix it's not so bad, i don't know when and if they are going to ever come back up. I like them, nym, so far so good, i wish they had a coupon! But such is life.

I have cancelled with Netdvdflix as of 02-23-05. I am supposed to get a $100.00 deposit returned to me because I would not hand over my SS# upon sign up. I was hesitant about the ss# and I suppose I should have been hesitant about the deposit also. They claim that since thier system is down they cannot credit my credit card the deposit, but will mail me a cashiers check. Why do I get the feeling that the "check is in the mail". If I dont get the check, what recourse of action do I have?...... Anyone?

I think they are of their word, even though it is much more going on than they care to admit, it doens't take this amount of time to bring back up a website that's been down, but then again who am i to say that. I would wait the 5 to 10 business days and then if it does't show up, then you contact them and let them know that you haven't recieved it, then see what their options are, maybe you could request funds pay pal? do you have a pay pal account?? it's free and you can receive and send $$.

Does anyone know for sure what happened?

A friend of mine who's a computer tech looked into it and did some research, and he thinks that the site may have been shut down up the chain through the companies that hosted it, because the company that hosted the site doesn't allow adult content. When you post a website on a server and it's violating the terms of service for the host it often takes them time to find out about it, and when they do they immediately shut the site down.

If that happened or if it was the result of a server crash somewhere they may have completely lost their database, which could even include their customer list and mailing list, depending on how the site's setup.

I don't think anyone knows for sure what happened Itsjustme982, everyone's just speculating at this point, but you have an interesting theory. I wonder if that could be the case. It would certainly explain why they never got back on line. Is your source for sure or is he being conclusive?

I received my (deposit) money order today for the cancellation of Netdvdflix. I am relieved! Along with the letter was an appology for not having the site up and running and again promised to be up soon. (probably before you recieve the check)it said. However that didnt happen as it is not up and running yet today.
Fabxxx....To cancel your account the customer service number is 469-964-5400. If no one is there, I suggest to leave a message with as much info as possible about the nature of the call and call back info. I belive that Jim will return your call or just cancel your account if you wish.

There's no way to know for sure of course, RiveGauche, but the evidence is solid...further up the "economic chain" the website was ultimately being hosted by a company that doesn't allow "adult" material. I say "further up the chain" because Netdvdflix was actually being hosted by a company who was leasing the space from the company that doesn't allow porn...hopefully that made sense.

So I don't know for sure that this is why the site is gone, but I do know for sure about that. Again, it may not be the reason the site is down, or the only reason-often it's hard for hosting companies to enforce their terms of service, especially since the top company in this case is a pretty large one. Sometimes the only way to know that your terms are being violated is to either receive a complaint about a site or to have company personnel actually check out the site...and in some cases they don't bother enforcing them even when they know they're being violated!

Your theory may be right Itsjustme982, but just how long does it take to get a new host that would allow pornographic material. There certainly seems to be enough of them out there. This has gone on too long and I'm sure many people such as myself have already jumped ship. If they do ever get back up and running they will have to pretty much start from scratch again anyways. It's too bad, because they used to provide a good service for a nice price and had a decent selection to chose from. I wish them well.

I've actually been using ohgurl for a few weeks. They've had a good variety and shipping has been timely.

I don't like:

1. Only 15 slots allowed in the queue
2. The return address Ohgurl.com is on the mailer (which let my secretary and perhaps my mailman know a little more than I wanted them to!)

Too bad about netdvdflix. I liked them.
