Finally, producers have realized that there are a lot of hot young straight guys who want to have sex with porn stars. Gone are the days when we have to endure every "Erik Everhard" who comes along for 10 long years. New guys are popping up all the time. These guys must be cheaper to hire, and easier to train because all they want is to have sex. Tom Byron is the king of the new hotty male talent pool. And Hustler gets it that straight men are not their only audience. Now, females and gay guys who love straight porn have to exert pressure on film makers to spend a little more time on guy's faces and bodies. How about 5 minutes total face and bod shots, instead of the 30 seconds we get now?

Not in the porn I rent/buy, please.

Nothing against new guys. As long as they got wood and can deliver a decent pop shot on a female's face they are welcome.

How about if it's a shot of both the male and female from head to toe? Could you still get off to a scene if there were more wide shots that showed the whole picture?

There's got to be a compromise that will work for both men and women that doesn't involve expensive, scripted features. Can't the gonzo makers just pull the camera back a bit more, and maybe shoot some of the action from a 45-degree angle instead of straight up the performers' asses the whole time?

Think of all the money to be made by casting attractive men to give beautiful women good, hard and rough sex, and marketing it toward women , not couples. Take out an ad in Cosmo for crying out loud. Get single women buying porn. Think of all the disposable income a single woman with no kids has. And think about how much money she'd spend to see really hot guys fuck really hot girls.

Is the industry simply already rich enough? There's no need to develop a huge untapped consumer market because, well hell, everybody's got more wealth than they can handle? Or is it that the industry just doesn't give a damn what women think? Don't the pornographers want our money? It's like we're shouting into the wind, and if anybody hears us, we get immediately shouted back down. It's infuriating and it's unfair.

/rant

So, who were those new guys, again?

I've been critical of porn for having the same old, out of shape guys in every movie for years. It seems like the newer companies have caught on to the fact that there's more than 5 guys in the world that can get hard on camera.

Most of the new guys are quieter too, which is also a plus. Sometimes those old guys forget that the women are the real talent that most fans pay to see!

I hear a lot of it is viagra allows them to get harder and stay hard much easier then the tom byron, alex sanders, mark wallice, mike horner, randy spears, paul thomas, tony tedeshi, sean micheals, lexington and any of the same old guys. No matter how much I can't stand some of them like mike horner and his horrible style of fucking, I give them credit for doing it on camera unaided.

Doesn't most features appeal to women and include young(er) good-looking guys?

I don't like young good-looking guys... They're posing in front of the mirror like that guy in American Psycho.

If you are a female or a gay guy, I understand your point, but for the majority of people who watch straight porn, we are heterosexual men.
Personally I FFW through the scenes when a male talent is talking or the camera is on him while he is naked doing nothing or jacking off, or if the camera is shooting his asshole, if this lasts for more than 10 seconds FFW button will take over. Pretty much, the only thing I care about in a male talent, is if he can deliver a solid performance, Mind you I do prefer seeing guys like Rocco, Manuel, Ben English, Justin Slayer, over guys like Dirty Harry, Ed Powers, Brian Surewood, and Rodney Moore. And that's because the girls seem to be more into the act when performing with these guys, over some butt ugly bum looking guys.

As for the names of new guys, you can't track them because they aren't 'stars.' That's the whole point. You'll see them maybe once in one film. There is an endless pool of hot college, street, construction men who want to do this. Watch a recent Tom Byron movie. This isn't 'talent'. They are just hot guys with big dicks who fuck. It's absolutely great. And the female talent must love it too. Unfortunately, all we get is about 12 seconds of their faces, and the rest of the film is the whole frame filled with penis parts going in and out of female parts. How much of this can anyone look at -- even hard core porn freaks? I think the fact is that what women want in porn just doesn't matter. It never has. Men have the power and the money. The ones who make porn are just not that creative. They think a new idea is to get three dicks into one hole, but then all we see is an extreme closeup of a stretched out vagina. No people. Just parts. It's hot for about 15 seconds, then it's boring.

new guys are a pain in the ass to work with.

they can t keep their wood, or they pop 3 times and have to wait til they get hard again every time.
they dont know what they re doing (positions, opening to the camera)

anyday i d rather work with Erik Everhard, or Steve Holmes for the 25th time than try out a newbie. at least i m sure i ll get fucked good and we will deliver a great scene together.

It's all about who you identify with when you watch. I'm a woman, and sometimes I can totally understand the male point of view. If I find a girl particularly hot, I want to see her well-and-truly fucked silly. BUT, seeing as I have a vagina and know how it feels to have something the diameter of 3 cocks in it (a baby), I don't find these sexual Olympics arousing. They make me think of pain (and not the good kind), which kills my mood. I like rough sex. I love spanking. I love choking. I love hair-pulling. I even like slapping now, if the girl is obviously immensely aroused. But all this insertion, it does nothing for me.

And I hear what you're saying about not being able to track down these new guys. Most times the male cast aren't credited, especially if they're one-hit-wonders. Seems wrong to me. The most important star on any b/g set is The Cock. Nothing goes right if The Cock is having a bad day. There's always a man attached to The Cock, so I think he deserves some credit, even if he's new.

Yes, features generally have better-looking guys, but the sex is usually really boring compared to gonzo. I'm looking for something in the middle between rip-roaring shove-a-dick-down-her-throat-til-she-vomits gonzo, and pretty-lighting-expensive-furniture-awful-dialogue-boring-sex features. There are exceptions to both genres and I latch onto those whenever the planets are aligned just-so and I see them.

I absolutely understand your points. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't want to work with a new guy, either. As a viewer, I might not even want to watch the finished product if the shoot went the way Melissa described it. But Erik Everhard and Steve Holmes were new once, too. I can understand the wood complaint. If the guy doesn't arrive on his first shoot with the ability to control his cock (erection and orgasm), then he doesn't belong in porn. He's got no natural talent. As for learning the ropes and how to fuck on camera, everybody was new at some time, right? What if the new guy is the next Erik Everhard in the rough? Wouldn't it be a shame if nobody took the time to teach him a few things?

You're right Pagoda, everyone was new first. But there are ways to become porn studs. I know Eric walked pretty much into the industry as a very young man, but he had natural talent that had to be nurtured.
The likes of Steve Holmes had to really work to get to the top, because of his age, no one would hire him for a long time. The reason he is so good, is because he worked like crazy. He did any shoot that came his way, and I mean any. He did old women, really fat women, he convinced producers to hire him for a minimum wage just the once, and if they liked him, then they had to pay him fully to work again. He climbed his way up from the bottom, by practicing on all these shit shoots, and websites. If the younger guys took a leaf out of Papa Holmes' book, THEN they might be accepted into the LA industry. As it stands, most boys believe that they are too good for shit shoots, and try and jump in at the deep end, often drowning. Once you have a bad reputation as a male performer, companies don't want to take the risk of hiring you again.
My advice to to the younger generation is, go and practice all the shoots you don't want to do, because once you can bonk a 60 year old granny, or a 300lbs girl with no problems, then you will be bonking to the top in LA, because you will have learned the 'trade'.

here, here pagoda. more head to toe shots of male and female. i've had it with ultra close in-out shots. for all i know, from that shot, the girl could be anyone, not the particular hottie i paid to see.

i've always thought a 2nd cameraman might fill the head to toe requirement - almost a behind the scenes feel if the principal cameraman is in the frame. I LOVE THAT IDEA - same scene two cameras

What Tom Byron are you talking about? The original or a copy?
Tom Byron has done 2070 scenes since 1982. IAFD does not list a 2nd one. ????

The same guys over and over again is the reason why I don't buy RLD/PX movies. And I don't like this double standard also, like new girls are always welcome no matter how poor their performance are but the gate should be locked for news guys and should be protected by the old boys network .

Yes it is a slight double standard, but not really, because girls have a very short shelf life in porn. They are accepted in the industry for looks only, and very few make it a career of a lifetime. Unlike guys, who, if they start at 18 can get a good 20-30 years work from porn if they're good.
The key to a great scene is the stud. No matter how good a girl is, if the stud isn't up to scratch, the scene is going to fall flat on it's face. Where-as, a good male is much more lightly to improve the performance of a girl who iksn't so strong.
The worst combo is a bad male with a bad female. Destined to fail.

What do you expect? In any industry, you don't expect the CEO is just easily give over his position to the mailboy or the janitor, do you? It's the same way in porn. These "old guys" who everyone is talking about on this thread are veterans who have spent alot of time working to get to where they are, just as Isabel Ice described.

Yes, I'm sure that every guy and his brother probably, at some point, has fantasized about being in porn, but it's not as easy as it look on screen. For instance, just look at the BTS footage from time to time. What looks like a 20-minute scene may sometimes take hours to shoot. Can any new guy straight off the street be that professional to keep wood for that long during repeated breaks in shooting and while he has a camera crew standing in front of him?

Also, as Isabel Ice also stated, not every girl in porn is resembling of supermodel. Some are average looking or straight-up fugly. Most guys only fantasize about screwing the hot porn stars. But what if you are asked to screw some chick you would never ordinarily be attracted to? This, in fact, is how many porn guys get their start, with the exception of the ones who just may be lucky or may happen to know someone who hooks them up with hot pussy right away. But for most guys, they have to start at the bottom (no pun intended), which is usually standard at any job.

Plus, I have to agree with Melissa. Most scenes that I see with the newest, younger guys are completely dead. Yes, the guy may look nice, but who wants to see a dead scene? Not me. For example, in the early films of Erik Everhard when he first started over at Anabolic/Diabolic, many of those scenes were so dull. It was like he was just some silent robotic dick there to do a job and nothing more. However, once he started more regularly working and becoming a "star," he began bringing more chemistry and intensity along with him, which is likely how he was able to arrive to where he is now in the porn world.

It takes work, but it also takes persistence. If porn companies just started hiring random new guys all the time who have not yet proven themselves, they would probably never get their films done. They need to go with guys who they know are reliable and can do the job well, and not take chances on some guy who just wants to fulfill a fantasy and brag to his buddies. Porn is, after all, still a business.

There's always two sides. Even guys won't be in porn forever. When all the "older" guys are gone, new ones will be needed. And then it won't hurt if some of them were in the business already. But of course it's the same as in everyday life. It just looks/feels better when the guy knows what he does. A little luck in the beginning and seizing your chance by the balls when you have it is what you need to get the experience needed, and then everything is possible.
But I think there should be a chance for guys like me, too. I don't have any experience but I could still deliver a great scene. Who said that wood and cum has to be involved? Why not hire a guy who remains clothed during the whole scene but swallows a shitload of squirt with eyes aglow of happiness and a smile on his face ?

Many of these "old guys" are in their 20's and 30's. They also direct.

Do you believe they would know exactly how to get the best from the girls and males without years of experience?

Is new wine better than wine with years of aging?

Is Windows 95 as good as Windows XP?

Bottom line: Experience counts.

I agree with that, but it would be nice to see a new guy once in a while. I'm not talking about the revolving door the girls go through. I'm saying once every 5 years or so, I'd like to see a new, good-looking superstud. I don't care how he gets to the level of porn I like to watch. He could be toiling away on amateur fetish websites right now--I don't care. As long as he still looks good and can fuck like a good lover should fuck when he gets to the pros, I'll be happy. He doesn't have to pop off a fashion runway straight into porn. That's not realistic. I'm just saying, it would be nice to see new male talent nurtured and highlighted.

Personally, I wouldn't want to see multitudes of new porn studs flooding the industry, even if it were possible. I tend to be loyal to the guys I like. I don't get bored watching the same man in 50 different scenes, because if he's any good, I'll see a slightly different side of that man with each individual girl. Little details and nuances make a difference for me. Unlike the girls, who are encouraged to pull more and more acrobatic or stomach-churning feats to retain viewer interest, the studs can be themselves in every scene and female viewers are happy if they like that stud's sexual personality. As long as he changes it up just enough to acknowledge that he's fucking an individual woman, and not a blow-up doll he fucks everyday, and he seems genuinely interested in pleasuring her, I'm satisfied. AND, I'm majorly impressed if he finds the time to work out and show some pride in his appearance, even if I rarely see anything more than his cock on my TV. At least I know he made some effort to look fit and sexy for the girls he works with. That makes a man attractive.

The/we "oldies" (which I define as the pre-blue pill era) are the REAL/TRUE porn stars; though some might now also use "assistance" from time-to-time, they have previously proven their abilities by being in the small pool of performers in the pre-blue pill era. Almost any new guy can now pop a pill and get hard--hopefully, he can also "pop" almost on-command instead of taking a year-and-a-day to do the money shot while holding up the crew, wasting time and production efficiency, and reciting the "this has never happened to me before" cover-up excuse that we hear from some new guys who use artificial means to be able to "perform"?!

I welcome new-era guys, but are they performing naturally like the guys of old, or are they merely pill-poppers?

i notice the difference... most of the new guys (not all of them, but most) fuck like robots. they take a pill or a needle, and look at the wall while they re fucking the girl. cause they dont have to be into the girl in order tho accomplish the scene. there s no chemistry. not even a try. that s sad.

that s why i love to work with the previous generation of performers (Mark davis, Steve Holmes,...) cause when they re fucking, they look into the girls's eyes, they talk to her, whisper in her ear, caress her... in short words, love her for the time the scene lasts.

Sorry, Dave. I don't care whether it's natural or by artificial means. I only care that he's got wood and is able to perform. I, as a porn consumer, am only concerned with the finished product. I, for one, welcome the new male blood into the porn industry.....

Not hugely worried by the male talent, but sheez some of them are just disgusting old hairy scumbags who are obviously buddies of the people who run the studios.

Obviously porn is fantasy and when you have some filthy pig banging the girl it’s a harsh reminder that’s its basically just prostitution.

That's what I like to see in scenes, Melissa. However since I'm only a viewer and not a participant, I'd like to see good looks too. As a performer, you get the benefit of a bit pleasant fucking along with those whispers, kisses and caresses. You get to actually feel that chemistry. I would likely find Steve Holmes or Mark Davis physically attractive if I met them in person and got to feel the sexual vibes they give off. But since I'm at home watching TV, I don't get to experience their magnetism.

For me, porn is about expanding my fantasy base, and I like drop-dead-gorgeous guys in my fantasies. Steve and Mark are handsome men, but my fantasy man doesn't look like them.

Melissa, who would you say are those "few exceptions?" Who's the best-looking guy (in your opinion) that really connects with you during a scene?

New guys? LOL Yeah sure I will hire a new guy as long as he puts up the money for the scene.

As long as he pays me for the female talent, location, make up artist, equipment, my time, gas money, food, etc. then I will give him a shot.

These newbies think they can get hired based on their confidence alone. No way am I letting one of those lame fucks ruin my scene and cost me a grand in expenses and kill fees because he could not keep his wood.

i love the fact that people think that not taking viagra is some kind of badge of honor. i respect dave and the other guys from the old days (peter north, joey silvera, tt boy, tom byron, etc. etc.) so much. those guys were warriors!

but today is totally different. are there some guys who dont use anything to help them....sure...but its rare. There are so many companies and so many scenes available for guys who are good. I work 5-7 times a week, and I dont work nearly as much as at least 30 other guys in this business......can i do scenes without assistance...of course....but the 8th straight day of doing scenes kind of catches up to you. not to mention the fact that mark davis has worked for every company on the planet...i havent...so when he goes to a set, he knows what the surrounding are like....a new guy has no fucking idea what the scene is going to be like.....thats pressure.

i would also love to be one of the guys who owns their own lines so they can:

1. choose the girls they work with
2. work on days that they choose
3. can make their sets to their personal preferences

now, let me also say that the reason that those guys got their own lines is because they already made it though the business of working every day for years.

so in summary, taking a blue pill cant do anything to your scene but help.

Hi Christian!
I want to preface my statement saying that you did an AMAZING job when I was on set with you, you are extremely hot, and also wonderfully professional.

However... unfortunately one of the first things I panic about when I hear that a certain guy depends on Viagra nearly 100% of the time, I get afraid that he's going to have problems seeming into the girl during the scene (because he no longer NEEDS to), or that it is going to be nearly impossible for him to cum without having to jack off for 10 minutes. You, I was very thankful, did not have that difficulty.
You admit that you often don't need any pill-assistance. (I think that's my favorite new term of the day ) And, indeed, when you were with Dillan Lauren, I was very envious of the great ass-pounding you gave her. :)

I recently found out that Erik Everhard received his first booking from Jules Jordan by telling Jules that he did not want to be paid for the scenes, he'd just like his plane ticket to be paid for.
When I was performing, I felt very much as Melissa does: I preferred the guys that fucked me good. I especially preferred the good looking guys who could fuck me good, but as long as they were attractive to me on some level, and I enjoyed the sex with them, I has a happy person.

And to contribute more positively to this thread, here are some of my favorite new guys from the past 2-3 years:
Justin Slayer (duh!), Denis Marti, Scott Nails.
Even Manuel started only about 4 years ago, if I remember correctly.

Just looking at the nominations so far for Rog’s Rog Reviews Fan Favorites awards:
https://www.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/topic.dlt/topic_id=70616/forum_id=1/cat_id=1/70616.htm , there’s already a list of 40 great guys, most of them very, very good looking. And I’ve already sent in an email with about another 5 guys on it.

Just out of intrest, how does a guy get into porn?
Are there agencies that just deal with men?
Not that it makes any difference to me as i live in the UK and it seems to be a closed shop over here with the same guys in all the vids.
But then if someone wants to send me a plane ticket to shoot a scene in LA i would be more than happy and i wouldn't ask for a fee either!!

Seems I made the mistake of leaving out the part about Erik shooting internet-only content in Vancouver for awhile before he sent out a screener DVD to dozens of producers.

As previously mentioned, a new guy to watch is James Deen. He weighs about 85 pounds and 80 of it is dick. Outside of the old or older school guys (Mark Davis, Mark Wood, Mr.Pete etc) he's my favorite guy to shoot. Always gives you the angle and never has any problems. Does he use a little blue pill? I doubt it. He's 20 years old.

Also great new guys (or relatively new) Scott Nails and Tommy Gunn with honorable mention to Jean Val Jean who is probably the best looking guy who has ever worked in porn (at least according to my wife). He came out of the gate rather weak and timid but he got progressively better then he disappeared for a while. Apparently he's back in action now.

I'd like to stop talking about dudes now. I'm beginning to feel like my drapes might clash with my sofa cushions and I desperately need to schedule a perm.

Not very much, I would think. To begin with, if a straight guy is holding a camera, shooting such movies is difficult, and there aren't many female directors.
