After having played with the numbers, the two best deals are to purchase just barely over $110 or just barely over $210 and to pay with cash plus a $10 KickBack coupon. Buying more does not increase the savings appreciably.

The effective savings are 17.5% for a $110 purchase and increase to only 18.3% for a $209 purchase. The savings jump to 22.9% at the $210 level and top out at 23.8% for a purchase of $1,260 (where the 5% earned KickBack credit limit of $50 is reached).

There is no incentive at all to redeem more than $10 in KickBack credit at a time. At the $110 purchase level, you lose nearly 2% of the savings. At the $210 level, you lose almost 1% by redeeming a $20 kickback coupon.

My figures include factoring in the additional 5% KickBack credit earned on the transactions.

DVD Advantage offers a 50% bonus on all KickBack dollars spent on their site. Their deal favors large KickBack redemptions rather than small ones.

Here are three situations:

1) Total purchase of $50, payment in the form of $20 in KickBack redemption (plus the $10 bonus thrown in by DVD Advantage) = cash outlay of $20 plus S&H = savings of 22.0%!

2) Total purchase of $100, payment in the form of $50 in KickBack redemption (plus the $25 bonus thrown in by DVD Advantage) = cash outlay of $25 plus S&H = savings of 26.3%!

3) Total purchase of $150, payment in the form of $100 in KickBack redemption (plus the $50 bonus thrown in by DVD Advantage) = cash outlay of $0 (that is ZERO!) plus S&H = savings of 33.3%!!! Note that this is the upper limit of the deal from DVD Advantage because the maximum you can redeem at any one time is $100 in KickBack dollars.

If you are going to buy a large quantity of DVDs, in the long run, you are bettter off making a number of orders from Five Star totalling just over $210 each and using a $10 KickBack coupon with each order. If you are ordering a smaller number of DVDs and have a lot of KickBack dollars to spend, DVD Advantage is the better deal.

If you're looking to buy a bunch of porn then I'm guessing the most economical approach is to place multiple $100 orders at Five Star, get the 15% redemption bonus and use a $10 gift certificate. (Don't forget to factor in free shipping on orders with 4 or more items.) Of course the same holds true in that they have to carry the items you're interested in buying.

Take a look at it from a different perspective: Every $10 in credit earned through Adult DVD Empire has an equivalent value of $11.50 if you spend your earned Kickback dollars with them. ($10 spent at Empire earns a Kickback rebate of $1.50). In a way it's like getting and extra 15%. They too offer free shipping which needs to be factored into the total order cost as well.

All of this stuff can be very confusing for many shoppers. I process hundreds of Kickback orders every month and issue a few thousand dollars in credit. The vast majority of Kickback shoppers tend to redeem their credit at the place where they earned it. For these retailers the Kickback program ends up being a great shopper loyalty program.

Given the differences in their stocks and prices, both Five Star and DVD Advantage offer some great savings. By choosing titles at each of the stores which represent best buys based on the Price Search engine and the Deal Finder function, and by making best use of the two different KickBack redemption programs, one can save a LOT of money at both stores.

I can second that, I redeemed a $50 credit at DVD Advantage, which turned out to be $75. A title I wanted was out of stock, so they credited my card $15. So all I ended up paying for the order was just over $1. How can you beat that, five DVDs for $1, including the $12 I spent 2day UPS Air shipping, in that total of $1. This means that on Wednesday, my day off, I will be watching a lot of porn. Great.

Now to Fivestar, they have some great prices on a studio that I want to buy a couple from, but I really can't spend another $100 this time around, but I will probably order 4 DVDs at the end of the month.

In order to qualify for the redemption bonus percentage the order total needs to be greater than $100 AFTER the Kickback redemption is applied. i.e. If you're using a $10 gift certificate then you need to order at least $110 worth of items. If you're using a $20 gift certificate then you must order at least $120 worth of items in order for the order total to be greater than $100 after the redmeption is factored in.

I have found that most of the best programmers that I know considered math to be one of their favorite subjects in school. For the most part, they enjoyed solving word problems more than straight equations.

However, this may not be as much based on loving math as it is enjoying problem solving.

Not to get to much off the subject but I actually like problem solving, I just don't like math, I shouldn't have said I hate math, I have a love/hate relationship with it. I never liked it in school, because it was boring the way it was presented to me (I did manage to get A's and B's in the subject, but all of Algebra sucked, so, long story short, I'd rather ram my head into a monitor than do Algebra.) I know I can do it, it's not something I look forward to, or want to do...

I'm not taking programming courses, I'm not mental, too many numbers, codes, and overall "stuff" [tech word]. I had the option to take programming courses, I could have if I wanted to. But I am more interested in the fixing of computers, so that is what I am doing. I'll leave the programming up to more mathematically minded people.

If you place a $110 order using a $10 kickback credit, you get 15% off of the price of the order. So that $110 order ends up costing $85 out of your pocket.

If you have a lot of discs to buy, a $210 order using a $10 kickback credit gets you an additional $20% off. So, that $210 order ends up costing $160. On top of that, you end up getting another $8 in kickback credits for that new order.

So, for a net cost of $2 in kickback dollars, you can save yourself $50 off of your order, which was purchased from 5-Star, who has really good prices even without the kickbacks.

I would do 90 percent of my shopping at Fivestar if they did not run out of hot new titles so quickly. Since I can rarely find enough in-stock titles to take advantage of the kickback bonuses for large purchases, I find it hard to use kickbacks at Fivestar.

One of the nice things about 5-star is that once you get past 4 titles, USPS Priority shipping is free, regardless of whether they have to make multiple shipments due to backorders. So, if you choose the "ship immediately" option, it doesn't cost you any more than if you asked them to wait until everything is available.
