I really don't know about the gift thing - I would have thought there's an even chance for any package to be examined - but I know it's Five Star's policy to only make honest declarations on customs forms.

In fact, I would prefer to buy all my DVDs from Five Star in future. There is, however, one small thing that is stopping me from making them my No. 1 company of choice, namely the shipping method. When I bought from them before, FedEx automatically paid the customs duty in order to rush my order through. Does FedEx do this only when the package is stopped at customs, or is it a part of their normal shipping procedure whether the package is stopped or not? I've also been told that customs rarely stop a package if the contents are described as "A GIFT" on the package. Maybe when sending abroad this could be a way of avoiding hold-ups with importing through foreign customs. [Link] |
