My order was shipped this morning. It was for 6 discs, will they be shipped together or separately. Am I likely to get hit by customs?

They will ship them together. Yes, you are likely to get them opened by customs, though that shouldn't matter.

Wasn't it FiveStar who only a little while ago announced that they'd ship international orders in these little bags from now on ?

Am I remembering that right ?

Anybody tried them lately ? Did they really get rid of the big USPS boxes ? If so, it shouldn't be necessary to worry about your order.

I have not tried them as yet - so please post a reply and let us know how you get on.

I am in Edinburgh and have always used adult dvdnow, but they are getting a bit expensive. - although NEVER a customs problems in about a hundred orders!!

The only problem I can see with five star is that their site states they will quote the actual cost of all goods on the package - so although you are unlikley to get them confiscated, you may be liable for import/VAT duty.

When you get them let us know;

1. did they send them together
2. in a box or envelope
3. did they come with covers and boxes
4. speed of delivery
5. price on the front of the package?
6. did you get hit for import/VAT
7. any other points worth mentioning

That should let the rest of the UK buyers get a better idea of Five star and allow them to compare with adultdvdnow!

Cheers

They will get though customs but you will get hit with a massive duty bill!
Yes they now ship using jiffy bags, via denmark.

Lie back and think of England!

I remember placing an order for about $50 at FiveStar a while ago. Although they were using a USPS box the order arrived safely here in Germany, and I think the real value of the order wasn't declared on it. Weird. Also with my last two orders I just placed 2 days ago they sent me confirmation mails with every title being declared as a $1 value. Why should they do this ? I think this might be the value declared on the actual package. I'll let you know when the orders arrive (hopefully).

Zorro, you are absolutely right about adultdvdnow: they are extremely quick with no customs problem but they are far too expensive, especially when fivestar has many good titles for $8.99; that's the main reason i tried them. I will reply as soon as i have received my order, hopefully with no custom charges (fingers crossed) and answer all of the above questions.

Anyway, does anyone know whether they will send me the cases

I can't quote chapter and verse on large orders, as I order a maximum of two titles (less than £18) per shipment, but 5* always send their disks out unmolested - box, cover and any inserts.

I'm sorry to say you may well be hit by Customs, but as the order will probably come via Denmark you may get away with it. Fingers crossed you will. Don't panic if the order takes more than a fortnight, it will arrive eventually.

A quick example of the price differences!

Here are 5 titles I quite fancy getting;

1. Carribean Undercover
2. Blonde & Beyond
3. Hayride Honeys
4. Shades Of Sex 2
5. Strap On Sally 12

Here are the prices incl. p&p from the 2 companies mentioned above to the UK;

ADULT DVDNOW = $112.70

FIVE STAR = $73.91

a difference of about £28!!!!!

So I will be VERY interested in your reply to the above points, cause if you get them without charges - guess where all my future orders are going????

I'm also very interested in the answers to your points zorro. Having noticed that AdultDVDNow Private titles have crept up 2$ to $28.95 a title, now four dollars more expensive than fivestardvd per dvd I could make a nice saving if I used fivestardvd for these titles alone.

Why doesn't fivestardvd use ADNs shipping method of global priority mail without boxes? No customs charges then as they pass through as documents etc!

My order arrived this morning! Here are the answers to Zorro's questions:

1) My order for the 6 dvd's was packaged together....
2) ... in a big jiffy bag.
3) All DVD's came with original covers + cases
4) I placed the order on the 15th April, it was dispatched on 17th April and received it this morning (28th April)
5) The total price of the order (excl shipping) was declared in $ and "DVD software" was hand written on the package and marked 'Merchandise'
6) No! (pheeeew)
7) All in all, an excellent service. The package was shipped via Danmark (possible to aviod Customs). It is also worth bearing in mind that the total shipping cost for the 6 DVD's was $17.50; for the same number of DVD's, adultdvdnow's shipping cost is $16.95 and it only takes 4 days for delivery. I would definitely order from them again but my main supplier would still have to be adultdvdnow because they have NO customs problems + delivery is FAST! I know people will say their shipping cost is high, but if you order 6 titles at a time, it's not all that bad. Also, ADN offers free title when you order 5.

Hope this helps!

AdultDVDNow are now charging $29.95 for Private titles so I will have to go with fivestar...I suppose shipping between ADN and Fivestar are both good but prices of your favourite studio DVDs are a deciding factor and availability of these titles.

Incidentally for any European people thinking of buying Private titles from the US, don't even consider it. Use www.dvdzone2.com or www.erodvd.nl instead. They are a hell of a lot cheaper!
