Okay, as one purpose of this forum is supposed to be to enable us "paying punters" to tell you industry "movers and shakers" what we want to see, I figured I’d address you both directly (and any other industry insiders for that matter) with a particular ongoing gripe of mine, namely that there’s too much FULL NUDITY in porn today.
Tom - I’ve yet to see any EE films so I reserve judgement there, but from what I’ve heard and read it seems that although your shit’s definitely together in terms of production quality and putting out a great DVD package, EE is also firmly in the "naked" school (correct me if I'm wrong). Tricia - Evil Angel puts out some excellent product in terms of production quality and DVD content, and I have the greatest respect for the likes of John, Christoph Clark and Jules Jordan as directors. BUT I have to say that like all other major U.S.-based porn production companies, EA gives us FAR TOO MUCH of the same – namely just naked female flesh, naked female flesh and more naked female flesh and NOT ENOUGH sexy lingerie & stockings!
Occasionally producers DO give us a break from “all-naked”, but just for example, Sophie Evans in a red PVC corset and a pair of heels does not a lingerie scene make, nor does some starlet in just a pair of cheap and tatty fishnets with elasticated tops.
What’s sadly lacking are QUALITY lingerie scenes showing us girls getting nailed while dressed in sheer, silky stockings, garter belts, lacy bras, basques, babydoll nighties, open-crotch frilly panties etc. You might find the occasional scene like that (e.g. Jenna Haze / “Flesh Hunter”, Alexa Rae / “Flesh Hunter 2”, Mina / “Bottom Feeders 3”, Jade / “Bottom Feeders 4”) BUT DVDs containing several really good lingerie scenes are rarer than shark-shit these days, at least from U.S. producers. Maybe (occasionally!) one decent lingerie scene might show up on a DVD – but the rest is then just the same old “naked, naked, naked”. (In my experience the worst offenders among the big names are Anabolic / Diabolic, by the way).
I would love to see EA or EE (Anabolic too, cal444, if you're reading this) follow in Dion’s footsteps at RLD and put out a dedicated lingerie-only DVD, and if it’s a hit – follow it up with more.
I’m not talking second-rate, half-assed attempts at “lingerie genre” movies like the “Little Lace Panties” line that Digital Sin put out. I’m talking about quality product like RLD’s “Lingerie 2”, in which the sex is hot, the girls are sexy, the lingerie is even sexier and most importantly IT STAYS ON during the sex (okay – the panties can come off, but other than that – KEEP IT ON!!!). Dion scored a bullseye with that movie.
To anyone who might argue that “there’s no market for lingerie films”, my counter-argument would be that there’s so little decent product available in the lingerie genre, how would you know? And anyway I would say that there most definitely IS a market for it and it AIN'T just "a '70s thing". Only the other day I started a poll in the Polls forum (“Lingerie or nudity?”) and so far (at the time of writing this) the response has been roughly 65/35 IN FAVOUR of lingerie. True, this is just one single unscientific straw poll, but it does show that there’s a demand out there (at least here on ADVDT !!!).
I’m not saying there should be a seismic shift in porn. And obviously there’s a big market for nudity too, otherwise people wouldn’t buy it. But there should be FAR more variety than there is at the present time. It pisses me off big-time when I wander into some porn-mart (either on-line or bricks & mortar) and see the shelves overflowing with DVDs, yet when I look at the covers all I see is naked girls and more naked girls. I usually think twice about parting with my hard-earned just for one lingerie scene, given that porn DVDs cost on average $30 - $35 over here (I might rent, but I’m far less likely to buy).
So - what are your thoughts on this, as insiders and producers?
Anyone else who agrees with me on this, please chime in and let your voices be heard!

Hi floraman,
I would agree with the more lingerie. Not all lingerie, but 'more'.
You did refer to RLD's Lingerie series, but I was disapointed in that one. Yes, they did start out in lingerie but very quickly (all too quickly IMO) they tended to end up nude - once again. Great idea that didn't quite pan out.
Yeah, I'm all for the "women partially clothed" thing. :)
I'm not quite so confined to lingerie though. I like the way Joey Silvera does things--mixes it up with both lingerie, and sometimes just something as simple as a t-shirt and shorts, which really do it for me just as well.
On the other hand, there are times when I like them to start out partially clothed and eventually get naked. I admit though that that's an exception to the rule. It's strange... depends on my mood, and the girl, what she's wearing and what's going on. :)
Most of the directors with EA use a fair amount of lingerie in their lines. That's alot of the reason I buy alot EA titles. I am not sure about calling them out on this one except to give them praise for using lots of lingerie in their titles.
There is no uniform for sex! Bare skin, a piece of lingerie, a piece of clothing, the 'full' lingerie suite, whatever, it's all good. Why anybody sticks to just one possibility is beyond me, but then I like erotica, not just sex acts.
Barry, you might well have seen more EA titles than I have and I don't claim encyclopaedic knowledge of their entire catalogue. It could be that I've missed something really hot, I don't know.
I can only base my comments on what I've experienced, namely a disproportionate amount of nudity. It also depends on what you mean by "using lingerie". Sure, the girls might start off sexily attired, but more often than not they end up naked or just wearing stay-ups.
Also, this is a general gripe, not specifically directed at EA. The too-much-nakedness problem is industry-wide and that's my point.

floraman - i agree with you about liking lingerie for more than 30 seconds in a scene.
I do think that Evil Angel uses lingerie more than the average studio. But could we use more? Probably. There's no such thing as too much of a good thing, IMHO.
I used to work in the lingerie section of a department store back when I was in college, and I have at least two ideas why you don't see more lingerie in gonzo type films:
1. It has to fit really well to look good, especially bras and bustiers (merry widows or corsets they're sometimes called). The only way to get a proper fitting is for the woman to try the bras and other items on in person, in a store. That means that each actress would have to have her own lingerie; it's next to impossible for more than one woman to share hers with another.
2. Good, sexy lingerie is expensive. I've got a Frederick's of Hollywood catalog at home here, and a pretty bra is about $28, and the matching panties are about $12, so that's $40 for the simplest lingerie. Add a garter belt and stockings, it's another $30. And it just goes up from there. Add to this the fact that the lingerie is going to get stained during the sex scenes, or torn or dirty, and probably can't easily be used again, and the money starts to add up.
But, go check out the Frederick's website (www.fredericks.com) and pick out what you want to see. Let your favorite director/studio know what it is exactly that you want, and he/she could send one of your favorite actresses to a Frederick's store in Los Angeles to get a proper fitting. Maybe, just maybe, you will get your wish.
P.S. What are basques? We don't use that term in the US.
What we call "basques" are what I think you Rebellious Colonists call "merry widows"
As to your theory about price, yes you're right, good quality lingerie can be expensive. But then again that doesn't stop European porn producers using it FAR more than U.S. producers do. And even when they do use it, Stateside producers go about it in a half-assed way most of the time, or just use cheap tat that doesn't look particularly sexy.
The trouble with lingerie is that cheap lingerie looks, well, cheap; and nice lingerie can so easily overwhelm the wearer or production. Same goes for sports cars and other "upscale" production design choices. The fancier the art direction, be it lingerie, architecture, cars, etc, the more chance of it upstaging the rest of production and making it look shabby by comparrison.
Below is a picture of a model wearing a merry widow, from the Fredericks catalog; it's a merry widow because there are metal stays that run vertically up and down the garment (you can see the white lines):
The picture below is a model wearing a bustier, it's a shorter garment, and doesn't have the metal stays:
So, is this the sort of lingerie that you are looking for? The total outfits in either picture would go for $70, that's not that much money. And the outfits are so skimpy, they couldn't possibly overwhelm the wearer or production.
One of the last pieces of lingerie we bought was over 300 dollars LOL. I must say it fit and looks beautiful and is close to a one of a kind piece. Cheap lingerie is just that. I damn near shit when the saleslady told us the price but we are happy with the corset. Although on film it is hard to tell quality. We don't pick out films based on lingerie but are more focused on the sexual aspect of the film. The reality of the film is what does it for us, not the dress.
Some scenes I shoot do have girls wearing lingerie -Alicia Rhodes in Black Up That White Ass and Sophia in Just Ass For All immediately come to mind. However, it does come off at some point during the scene. Jessica Darlin wore lingerie in the scene I shot today for Butt A Bang , but again, it was removed as the scene progressed.
I'm not a real fan of lingerie myself - I prefer "booty shorts" or cut-off jeans.
I will keep your preference in mind on future shoots. I'm not sure about a line dedicated to lingerie, but you will see more scenes with lingerie now that I know such a desire exists, much as I try to include "feet-shots" for Ramsey!
I think you have found the cost-effective way to handle this situation. Lingerie fans would get to see some nice lingerie, and the perverts get the autographed goods. Everyone's a winner . The director's could even film the actress at her fitting in the lingerie store, for some BTS footage.
One more thing I'd like to add about the ubiquitous fluorescent pink, orange or green fishnet tights that a lot of the actresses wear - those garish colors give the poor women yellow skin tones, that may not look so bad in person, but on a TV screen look just awful . Black or white tights, or plain pink ones would look a lot better.
When you say "tights" I assume (and hope!) you're actually referring to stockings!!! Tights (known in the U.S. as "pantyhose") are anathema to most lingerie lovers. "Practical" they may be for everyday use, but erotic and sexy they most definitely are NOT. Awful things. I certainly don't want to see them in my porn.
Hey Floraman, speak for yourself. I find tights and leggings highly erotic and nothing shows of the female form better, especially when they are skin-tight. I absolutely love when my girlfriend wears them and I've ruined a couple of her leggings by ripping out the crotch and banging her thru the opening.
No problem with that my friend! One man's meat is another man's poison and all that! I was just noting that most stockings fetishists like myself tend to find tights (pantyhose) a turn-off BUT of course there are no hard-and-fast-rules. If that's what you enjoy, then keep on ripping!!!
To clarify, tights and pantyhose are essentially the same thing, usually tights are patterned, like the fishnet ones, while pantyhose are the plain, flesh colored nylons that women wear with dresses. These are tights:
Stockings are the nylons, patterned or plain, that just cover the legs; they have to be kept up with a garter belt around the woman's waist. You are right, these are much sexier.
I think that tights are popular with certain male directors because then a male actor gets to rip them open, usually with way more force than is necessary. I don't find it very erotic, either; it reminds me of a kid ripping open a Christmas present.
I haven't figured out yet if you are British or German, but keep in mind, too, that your 'knickers' are our 'panties'.
