The winners of the Gay DVD Empire Awards are up:

Viewer's Choice Award: The Back Row
Best Overall DVD: Lucky Lucas
Editor's Choice Award: Sword Master
Best Overall DVD: The Back Row
Best Feature DVD: Porn Academy
Best All-Sex DVD: Sexus
Best Foreign DVD: American Holidays
Best Classic DVD: Posing Strap
Best DVD Extras: Lucky Lucas
Best Video Quality DVD: Sword Master
Best Audio Quality DVD: A Dream Come True
Best DVD Studio: All Worlds Video

Some of these choices seem a little odd to me, but for most of them, I can kind of see where the award could be applicable.

But, can someone from Gay DVD Empire please explain to me how All Worlds Video can walk away with the Best DVD Studio award? This one just has me dumbfounded. Here's my case against All Worlds:

1.) DVD Video quality is merely good (not up to the standards set by Titan, Studio 2000 or Kristen Bjorn).
2.) Actual content of All Worlds movies varies wildly
3.) On recent All Worlds DVDs, there's a long commercial for their resort that is difficult to skip by
4.) I don't think any All Worlds DVD that I own has any extras beyond a slideshow.

I don't have anything against All Worlds, in fact I really like some of their product. They're a good studio. But I just can't see how they can be called the best DVD studio of the year.

JB--I totally agree with you regarding All Worlds Video DVDs. I own two and have seen two others (including The Missing Link and How the West Was Hung--two of their best-sellers) and have been so disappointed (especially that lame intro commercial) that I won't get another DVD from them no matter how great it is supposed to be. Studio 2000, Titan and Bel Ami are three studios that do much more with their DVDs. Perhaps AWV was selected based on numbers, but it wasn't on being the best.

On another note, perhaps I can get a good price on my Lucky Lukas DVD. How it can win best overall DVD but not best foreign DVD totally escapes me. American Holidays probably isn't even Lucas Kazan's best.

yeah All Worlds has this cheaper feel to them that's not nearly up to par with the rest. but then, doesn't Gay DVD Empire mostly sell All Worlds titles? i know they have a ton...
