The last "crossover" performer I'm aware of was Frank Towers from a few years ago, who ended up changing his nom de porn and performing exclusively in Gay vids. I think I read an interview (or saw something paraphrased, attributed to him) that his making gay vids effectivly meant he was unable to work in straight porn any more...

There are also a significant number of men performing in gay videos who are bisexual and acknowledge it publicly.

Then there is the problem of defining homosexuality. There are cultures which define homosexuals as being men who take a passive role in the sex act - those men who take the active role are not considered to be gay. (Is this a double standard?) A goodly number of Latino performers fall into this category.

Plus there are those who are straight-identified in that they prefer women and do not consider themselves to be gay or even bisexual, but, what the hell, if it feels good, (and/or the money is right), go for it! Who cares? A significant number of Eastern Europeans fall into this category. (I much prefer this attitude to that of the left-coast poseurs. )

Regardless of how they are categorized, gay and admitted-bisexual performers in gay videos are tolerated in bisexual videos (usually only in passive roles - the active rolls are reserved for the str8-trade performers) and are generally ostracized by the straight porn industry.

(Except, of course, for the famous case of Peter "Matt Ramsey" North, whose digitized image was often used in gay porn. His famous scene teacher with student Rick "Humongous" Donovan was obviously shot in a blue school room. The real reason North is only in straight videos these days is that he never recovered from that school room scene - he hasn't been able to sit down since! It also explains his tremendous splooge shots - the mere memory of that reaming causes him to cum in buckets! )

French Guy- I think what really comes from this topic is that there is less of a stigma (if any) for females to perform lesbian scenes (as a matter of fact, you get very little work if you don't) than for a man to perform in homosexual scenes.
The sad truth is that straight men really dig seeing women get it on, but are still incredibly threatened by the mere suggestion of two men.

I can only speak for myself here.

For me it's what you don't expect to see happen... a man being treated like a woman. Also I possess a very good imagination and frankly, have no need to see a woman sandwiched in between two men in order for me to live vicariously through her... I can picture myself in there just fine, without some sort of female representation.

Just how you dig to see two women get it on, I like to see two men... it's the flip side of the same coin.

IMO, bisexuality among males is largely a myth. Just look at the whole idea of bisexuality ... "loving everyone equally, looking past the outer self, and falling for the true inner beauty, no matter if they are male or female". (Remeber, bisexuality isn't just having sex with both males and females, it's the ability to fall in love with both sexes.)

The whole touchy-feely notion is something that I can only really see women embracing. There may be a few true bi-males that fit into that category, but for the most part, I don't think males have evolved that far yet.

I think (and this is just my opinion) that the majority of men who claim they are bi are gay, but because of the stigma attached to being gay, they still have sex with women as some kind of attempt to prove their manliness.

If you read a lot of interviews with some of the major gay-for-pay porn stars, the question will always come up: So are you gay or bi? The stock answer of the gay-for-pay porn star is always: I'm allsexual... I'm into whatever feels good.

Translation: I'm straight! But look at all this money they are paying me to get my dick sucked! After all, a hole is a hole, right?

All these gay-for-pay stars are really starting to piss me off. They have no real passion for gay sex, and it always shows up in their scenes. To be honest, I was equally upset when I found out Blake Harper was going to star in a bi flick (sorry Tina!). I guess you would call his stint in bi porn straight-for-pay, but I find the notion just as upsetting as gay-for-pay. (Especially since I really liked Blake, and the idea of him having sex with a woman really upset me).

A bigger reason the whole Blake in bi-porn upset me: Blake is definately gay, but here he is, with a great big hardon fucking some girl... it reinforces the idea that gay men could have sex with women and live a straight life if they really wanted to.
