Just read a post on rame from Tim Evanson stating the GayVNs have been cancelled. Is this true?

I have wondered why the GayVN's weren't held at the same time as the AVN's.

well they used to be, back in the day. but then they wanted to give the gay productions more exposure, so they decided to branch off into the GVNs. this allowed them more awards to be presented, etc.

i have no idea what is gonna happen now...

The gay industry awards used to be given out at the same ceremony as the straight awards. Eventually, there started to be a separate award ceremony at CES on Friday for the technical awards of straight and gay, and the sex and acting and "major" awards of straight and gay on Saturday of CES.

Finally, the last time that the GayVNs were during CES week, ALL the gay awards were given during the GayVNs on Friday, and ALL the straight awards were given during the Saturday awards show.

I think it's a good idea for the GayVNs to be in Hollywood. Most of the gay actors don't go to CES, because it's traditionally a mostly straight-oriented show. This way, more of the studios and talent can be there without exorbitant costs just to go to an awards show.

I'm really disappointed and hope that this isn't true about the show being cancelled. I went last year and enjoyed the show much more than the straight award show. A good dance act, a good host, and hot guys everywhere.
The studios are finally realizing what the straight studios have been going through for years (this was the 20th anniversary of the AVN awards, and for at least the last 10 years, ticket prices have been consistently going up, food has been getting more sparse, and voting has gotten more political.)
To the gay studio owners: I say, enjoy yourself, take the night to be proud of yourselves, and don't worry about spending a few dollars to promote and honor an industry which has made you thousands.
