Here is a thread that might help.

For my last couple of orders I've used DHL EXPRESS. Does GameLink offer than option? It might be the way to go.

Howdy again thanks for the replies guys!

GameLink use International FedEx (Insured door to door) or normal US Airmail - has anybody used gamelink to buy DVDs and have them shipped to Ireland? If so what is the best method of shipping to use in order for your package to get passed customs? Anybody who has previous experience and could pass on some info - I'd love to hear from you! I'm really interested in buying a few titles (first time) but I don't want to run into hassles with the customs people if they are caught coming through - If I go the Fedex route is there less chance of being caught do ya think?

Anyways thanks and again any help would be greatly appreciated!

theZapper,

if you do a search in the International Shopping forum here, you will find a couple of topics on this subject going back over the last year. Irish customs used to be OK to get past generally, but they seem to have stepped up their search campaigns of late.

My personal recommendations, is to stay awy from the Courier options (FedEx, DHL) if possible, since I and a couple of my friends have had a few problems recently -- one mate of mine who does a lot of ordinary business said that they will jump on any packages that come by courier that are stamped "DVDs", whether they are adult or not -- and stick with the various options using ordinary post. It may be slower, but in my opinion, it seems to be a safer option. Also, some of the couriers seem to be adding additional charges here (VAT, Duty and "Inspection/Handling Fees", etc).

Also, in my opinion, keep your orders small. Bulkier packaging seems more likely to be checked.

These are my opinions, and as such others may disagree, but these are from some of my and a couple of my friends who have had some recent problems with Irish Customs -- one of my friends is firmly fixed on their radar and most of his stuff is being checked and opened. He had another order seized the week before last, his first in a while.

Hope this helps!
