I wanted to go back in the archives and say Ashlynn Gere. But she starred in more movies than I thought, so I'll say she has Gayle Sayers status, and makes it to the Hall of Fame based on her incredible performances when she did play. Somehow I knew that when Keri - an ultimate gonzo girl - signed for wicked, she'd be gone soon. There are certainly others though, even if they didn't have quite the same impact as Keri Sable. Although I'm sure that there are many performers yet to come who will develop strong fan bases and have long careers, I think it's pretty difficult for any female performer to have a significant and lasting impact on the business these days. Just about everything that can be done sexually has been done, so there aren't many new trails to blaze in that regard. It doesn't seem likely that there will be any more Teri Weigels from the world of Playboy, and even less likely that any other minor or major celebrities will take their careers down the road to Porn Valley -- outside of the occasional "accidentally" or "malevolently" (yeah right) released sex tape. Without an understanding of what you mean by "impact," I fear that what most people will respond with are the names of women whose popularity rose pretty quickly and then who left the business leaving a good many fans still hungry for more. Keri Sable and Tiffany Rayne definitely fit in that regard. But "impact"? Hmmm ... [Link]

There's nothing wrong with that, but "impact" to me suggests something more lasting than simply a "formidable coulda-been"; otherwise, we're left with simply another who-left-the-business-too-soon thread.
