What has happened to the gonzo porn, it seems dead these days. I remember back in 04-05 when the current nasty sluts (Kelly wells, Angelina crow, Angela winter, Hillary scott, Kat, Keeani lei, Jayna oso, Katja kassin, Sierra sinn, Sasha Knox) were big they released movies every month. Nowdays you have to wait forever between releases for girls like Britney stavens and Aline, Girls that I think would be releasing movies every month if they could, but there seems to be a lack of gonzo companies. The only good gonzo company right now is evil angel and especially Jay Sin.
Opinions?

Manuel Ferrara is definitely keeping it alive and real. I mention him so much I should get all his flicks for free godamnit.
Things have changed, but there are still these guys who love the essence of shooting sex on film.

I don't get to see much of Manuel's work, but I'll sing praises for him... One of my fav directors/talent ever. Although I would toss a few more hats in the ring with saying Vouyer Media, Jules Jordan, Elegant Angel and Anabolic are good as well.

True, there are far fewer new gonzo releases in comparison to 04/05, on the other hand there's legions of web content compared to then. Personally I prefer DVDs and don't subscribe to any sites, and yeah, it would be nice to see more of Aline and Britney Stevens.

More Aline and Britney Stevens (but with no squirting) would be great.

Id like to see some veterans take a shot at some gonzo work -- Lisa Ann, Stephanie Swift, Nina Mercedez; Let's throw Devon and Chasey Lain in there. ANd Id like to see Sunset Adams in some gonzo as well.

Bargin you seem to be thinking gonzo=more extreme sex/anal sex.
Basically 98% of the web content out there is gonzo porn even if it's not as hardcore as you would like.

Is it? I got the impression that most of the newly produced webcontent consisted of cheesy vignettes.

Everyone needs to get on the same page with the definition of "GONZO".
The word "gonzo" gets thrown out all the time for any movies that aren't features. But the real definition of "gonzo" is movies/scenes where the actors acknowledge there's a camera and they're being filmed. BUTTMAN is gonzo. SEYMORE BUTTS is gonzo. Most movies are actually "Wall to Wall" meaning they're made up of vignettes/scenes that may or may not be related to each other. They usually don't acknowledge the camera is present because within the context of the scene no one is filming them.
In the non-porn world the word "gonzo" is used to mean wild, crazy over the top antics.

The term Gonzo porn is thrown around far too loosely.
The site Anal Destruction was a good gonzo site.
Someone needs to bring that site back.
Here's a definition from another site about gonzo porn:
"Well, it's also supposed to have more "extreme" activities added to it, not just your vanilla dick n' pussy sex.
These activities would include ass to mouth, deep throat gagging with spit drool, heavy cock in the ass pounding, copious ass slapping, double penetration, cum eating, cum swapping, eating cum from spoons, ass felching, fisting, bizarre insertions, gang bangs, two dicks in one hole, gratuitous cum facials, etc."
I'd go for more and better anal scenes. I'm tired of all the sites today that are so watered-down I'm tired of looking at them. They are just repetitive blowjob, vaginal, money shot.
No more hands during the blowjob scene. It's a blowjob, not a handjob. ;)
I like the site Exploitedcollegegirls.com:
With less talking and more feeling the girl up, harder anal, cum-swallowing.
Things like that. ;) ATM isn't that bad sometimes.

^ I would disagree with that definition of gonzo. It's an OK characterization or description of many (but certainly not all or even most) gonzo films, but that's certainly not what the term actually means.
Here's the definition from the ADT porn dicktionary, provided by Tricia Devereaux, the wife of John Stagliano, the man who invented gonzo porn:
"Gonzo can take on several different forms. It can vary from the cameraman (in adult, very often the director) interviewing the actors, or participating in the scene with dialogue and/or sex. It can also mean that the actors are simply acknowledging the fact that there is a camera shooting what they are doing. So, although in adult gonzo, the cameraman is usually somehow visible or audible, simply the actors playing to the camera constitutes a gonzo scene."

"simply acknowledging the fact that there is a camera shooting what they are doing."
I call BS. :p I like the quote I posted much better. Than, "Hey, there's a camera in the room!" XD :P
Seriously, bring back better anal scenes and cum swallowing.
Also, let's not forget a blowjob is with your mouth, not your hands. Okay, class?

BS? How can you call BS on the person who invented gonzo? If he doesn't know what it is, then who does?
It's not BS, it's the actual definition of gonzo porn.
"Gonzo" doesn't mean "extreme", "gonzo" means breaking the "fourth wall" - it means that the boundary between performers and audience is broken, and the performers acknowledge the existence of the audience (or in this case, the cameraman). The term "gonzo" comes from gonzo journalism, which is subjective journalism where the journalist is essentially a part of the story, as opposed to an outside, objective observer.
The only reason anyone thinks of gonzo as having something to do with anal is because it has become quite common that the more extreme porn flicks take place within the gonzo genre. But that doesn't mean that gonzo has to be extreme, or even anal-themed porn.
As an example, the site brandnewfaces.com, which features girls' first performances along with interviews about them, is gonzo porn, but the sex is definitely not extreme in any way (as the girls are brand new), and there are only one or two anal scenes in the history of the site.

They must be playing ice hockey on the River Styx, because Moses actually called this one correctly (if I were a cynical man, I could invoke that saying about broken clocks being right twice a day, but...)
The genre, as invented by Stagliano is about acknowledging the camera and breaking the fourth wall.
You're talking about extreme sex, and that's been around forever - I still have Alex DeRenzy reels from the 70s that are harder and more extreme than what we can reasonably release today, and they sure as hell ain't "gonzo."

Killbillvol69, I wasn't trying to sound mean, I just don't like the definition.
I see that type of movies as more of a POV type and it is very tame porn.
Mostly the same formula in every scene, which is turning me off and away.
I don't need extreme hardcore all the time.
But, better anal, no hands blowjobs, and no more cum dodgers would be nice.

^ Ah, no, POV is another thing entirely.
POV is a sub-genre of gonzo, which even then, can sometimes be argued as being something else, since there are vignette POV scenes where the actress is looking at the camera, but pretending the camera is a particular character, as opposed to the guy filming.
"Gonzo" doesn't have to involve POV, as Tricia's definition states. In fact, anything shot by Khan Tusion or Chico Wang, both directors who are known for some pretty extreme stuff at times, is gonzo, because the various people in the scene always acknowledge Chico in the room (or Khan and his cameraman), who's talking to the participants as they're doing extremely nasty things.
So it's definitely gonzo. It's extreme gonzo.
[edit: I personally never, ever watch POV porn. But I would still estimate that the majority of the scenes I watch are gonzo.]

I like the nastiness that most gonzo videos offer, as well as the focus on just sex rather than on story, but I absolutely despise the "acknowledgement" factor.

Chico Wang was the essence of gonzo. As he died gonzo is not the same for me.
No plot, lots of funny and chaotic scenes, senseless interviews, sometimes girls without much make-up (which I really like) and so on... It gave me the inpression that there are some dudes just having a good time fucking girls on camera. That was great.
Rocco, Mike John and Erik Everhard are directors who make good gonzo movies too (but not as great as they were).
Some time ago I really loved Jules Jordan movies too, but he became boring and the girls look sometimes too stylish.
Gonzo is not dead, but needs something fresh. Where are new innovative directors and really hot new girls (03/04 there were girls like Lucy Thai, Kat, Chiquita Lopez, Hillary Scott and many many others hiiting the scene. Now many girls just look the same...)
Evil Angel is the best right now. Too bad RLD, Diabolic/Anabolic and PXP went downhill...
just my 2 cents...

killbillvol69, as an aside I'd like to mention a candidate as the inventor of gonzo and p.o.v. Randy Detroit. Rodney Moore got his start working for him

^According to IAFD, Randy Detroit started directing in 1993, whereas Stagliano started in 1983. Unless IAFD is missing some info, he pre-dates Detroit.

Sorry, Duke, are you referring to a post in this thread that was deleted? If so, it wasn't me, so I don't know what happened or why it was deleted, but I can try to find out for you.
Or, are you referring to the thread of yours that I just locked (not deleted). If so, as I mentioned in the thread itself, it seems like something more appropriate for an email, rather than a thread in "The Porn Pool". Threads here are about general porn subjects, who likes what kind of stuff, etc. So a thread that's about forum policies or decisions doesn't belong here.
If anywhere, it would belong in some kind of a 'meta-forum'; you know, a forum about the forum, where questions are asked regarding how the forum operates, etc. But we don't have that, so the only thing you can do is email Steph about your concern.
So anyway, as I said, I don't know for sure which you were referring to, so if you could let me know that'd be great. Thanks.

It was me, rising from the dead, that had an itchy trigger finger and accidentally deleted the post.
For those that missed it, I think it gist of it was that gonzo on DVD is dead. It was a sentence or two - I'd say it pretty much repeated a thought expressed on the "Steph Please read" thread. I will give the poster 5 points for being so observant that he noticed a small deleted post.
Now excuse me while I go watch a pile of yummy DVDs.

Yeah well if he had anything to do with his GF's death (I'm not saying he did because there's no way I would know), you might want to find someone else to be just like. Sorry. I know it's pointless to respond to someone who's been deactivated but I couldn't help it this time.

This definition doesn't make any sense at all.
By this definition an Eli Cross feature film would be gonzo because it contains rough sex.
The sex doesn't define the film genre.
It's the filmmakers approach that does define it.

I think I already convinced him of the real definition with my explanation above though.
