I was checking out some of the excellent reviews here on ADT and found this one.

If Brandon reads this, maybe he understands that this series is way too good to be killed... people even write poetry about it!

Thanks but I will leave this to others to carry on. I finance my productions out of my pocket and they aren't deep. It's all about business from now on.

Brandon, the "all about business from now on" is understandable. What's hard to understand is how the finance of production of the Baker's Dozen series is in any way less costly than AGSOI.

Both series, AGSOI and Baker's Dozen, are very similar:
Both employ lots of guys. Both employ a few brave female actresses. Both series have lots of cum. Both series have girls swallow. Therefore, I don't see how the two series would be vastly different in cost to produce.

Thus, I find it hard to believe that "finance of production" is the real reason we've not seen a new AGSOI in over a year. During the same time span, we've had several new volumes of Baker's Dozen released.

Turning your argument around, then, I would raise that I love both series equally but can't afford to keep them both going!

There are usually around 70 guys hired to do BAKER'S DOZEN. There are over 100 guys hired to do A GOOD SOURCE OF IRON. So right off the bat it is much cheaper to do BAKER'S DOZEN.

BAKER'S DOZEN has been recognized with several awards (Volume 6 won Best Gonzo DVD of 2005 from Adult DVD Empire, Missy Monroe's scene in BAKER'S DOZEN #2 won the XRCO's Best Group Sex Scene for 2005).

A GOOD SOURCE OF IRON hasn't won anything and has not caught on as much as I would have liked.

I think doing one balls out, crazy series is enough. Doing them all like this is insane and suicidal.

Good reasoning. No need to put yourself in debt to keep a series going. Sure fans might miss it, but what would they miss more, a missing series, or a missing director?

I can't comment on either series, having not seen either, but I have seen numerous threads by numerous people who always seem to be pro one series, against another.

I also always believed it's best to do what is a true turn on to a person, and if it's profitable, even better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that some (most?) of the German bukkake guys from the GGG / John Thompson productions receive no pay : the deal sounds like "come shoot your load on a GGG girl for free ". Or maybe something got lost in translation?

There are many swallowing fans like me who find the goofy circus acts in this series a total bore.
When the porno producers, who find porno a joke, get off the pot, I'll buy.

GGG is unique in that some, if not all, of the guys actually pay to participate. That's information I got from people who knew guys who took part. Not sure if the practice continues to this day but it's not like that here in the US.

HIV tests from AIM Healthcare cost $120 and are valid for 30 days in the industry. It costs money to be in the game.

I am smarter now than I was when I started.

Well, I'm not a Porn Producer but even I can see the problem here. 70 - 100 guys!!! Why hire 100 guys? That's so unnecessary. No scene I ever watched in AGSOI ever had more than 20 or so guys in one scene.

It wouldn't be necessary to hire even one guy if you did this on a voluntary basis. I know, it's been suggested before and none of us can figure out why you have yet to adopt this policy.

I also would like to suggest that it's not the 'quantity' of men as it is the 'quality' of the cumshot. I've said this over and over and I guess I'm wasting my text here. But I will never understand why a porn producer/director makes a movie centered around cum, then hires guys who struggle to produce more than a miniscule amount when their number is up. And I'm not just picking on Mr. Dick Nasty. The last Bakers Dozen had several guys who totally disappointed in the cumshot department. And what's with guys standing behind the girl and holding it over her head? Sheeze o' pete's! Direct these guys on how to properly administer a cumshot to the face. Cumshots should be aimed TOWARDS the face not AWAY from it.

And lastly, to prove my point that I'm not picking on Mr. Nasty... There's a semi-new guy you've used recently. I don't know his name, but he's kind of goofy looking, wears glasses I think, looks sort of Jewish. He's rather overweight as well. He was in the latest Bakers Dozen volume. He's the guy that, when you asked the girls which guy they wanted to take home, they replied the guy with two different colored socks. That guy, despite being overweight and rather un-attractive, always seems to shoot nice big loads! At least 5 or 6 nice strong squirts! For AGSOI and BD type movies this guy rocks! Girls definitely have to "earn" their money taking his nut. And isn't that what you're paying the girls for? Isn't that what the movie is about? And isn't that why we watch? We don't care if the girls find the guys attractive, They're getting PAID. We want to see them really get it when they receive a cumshot. And it's so disappointing when a hot girl is there ready and waiting, then drip... drip, and it's over. Dayam, does that blow.

So what ever that guy's name is, the two colored sock guy, that's the type of guy, in my opinion, you should PAY to be in your movies. Hire ten or so guys like that (13 for BD) to be in the scenes of your cum genre movies. Get them under contract even! Tim Von Swine has his MOPE SQUAD. My advice is to get your own MOPE SQUAD of heavy-hitting cum-shooters. The days of handing out 70 - 100 paychecks will be history. Doesn't that make sense?

So if I understand you correctly:
-- You want me to reduce the number of guys in the movie.
-- You want to pay only the quality big load shooters.
-- You think it's feasible to ask the rest of the guys to be volunteers or, if they are not willing to pay $120 for an HIV test and the privilege of being in the movie, not hire them at all.

I tend to believe in the following:
-- Deliver more than the competition.
-- Try to do more, not less.
-- Pay people the going rate and treat other talent as I would like to be treated.

I remember signing up at Wicked's booth in Las Vegas several years ago to be an extra on their set. I got a call, drove downtown, waited around several hours, stood in a factory setting while dialogue was done between the actors, and when it came time for the sex.....being asked to leave. Everyone, myself included, was disappointed. We really wanted to see the process of shooting a scene from start to finish. We didn't get paid but that wasn't what I was there for. If I wanted to stand around machinery for a few hours, I would go get a job.

My point is that I resolved to do things my way at all costs. I tried it with a swallowing series and it didn't work out as I planned.

I won't ask fellow talent who earn a living in porn to do my shoots on a volunteer basis. Independently wealthy civilians willing to get an HIV test and perform for free are in short supply these days.

I insist on current HIV tests from all talent. 99% of wannabee talent never follow through and actually take a test....although they will "do anything" for that one big break and can fuck a girl all night long.

I have to do things my way. Those who have figured out how to make great movies on a shoestring budget should go do it on their own. It's tougher than it looks.

I just dug this original review and it happened to be about AGSOI. But thanks for (once again) explaining how some of these things work.

You can find foreign cum movies retailing at insane prices 3 times as high but not nearly 3 times as good - in most cases 3 times as bad. As I understand it fetish people tend to seek out obscure stuff and pay these rediciolus prices, so you could probably go up (mail if it's more convenient) to PXP and say 'These people don't really care about the price, why not say we charge 30$ instead?'. Now that's not your business I know but I doubt PXP would mind since they aren't funding the movie and probably don't care if the logo is there or not considering those sales figures you presented above.

Well, first of all it's not what I want, the comments I made are just suggestions. But I can not understand why you need to employ 100 guys when each scene in AGSOI has never had more than 20 it seems.
Why pay for low quality little load shooters? The movie is centered around cum. I'm merely suggesting to assemble your own "Mope Squad" of heavy cum-shooters and hire this group exclusively for your cum genre movies. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp? Just makes sense. And if the Dick Nasty's get upset, tell them they can be in the next volume of Ten Little Piggies or another one of your flicks where CUM isn't front and center.
See suggestion #2. No need to ask the "rest of the guys" to do anything. Assemble Big Cum-shooter Mope Squad; problem solved.
I tend to believe in the following:
-- Deliver more cum than the competition.
-- Try to do more cum with less guys (i.e. big loads)
-- Pay TALENT based on performance and treat your buddy's (other people) to a nice barbeque and a few drinks on your free time.
The problem, as I see it, is the business plan. I'm sure I speak for a lot of fans of the AGSOI series when I say that a reduction in the amount of guys you hire, down to a couple dozen or so of select guys who can produce more than a few drips, would be a more than acceptable compromise to keep the series alive.

Brandon, my comments are made with the utmost respect. I'm not alone when I say I luv the AGSOI series. There's other cum-swallowing movies out there but none even come close to your AGSOI. For those of us who really enjoy this kind of circus porn, it's the ultimate spectacle. It stands alone.

A few weeks back my ex-bf and I went to our neighborhood mom-n-pops adult bookstore and we rented Bakers Dozen # 7. We also re-rented AGSOI #5. While both series are excellent AGSOI was just amazing. Even though I had already seen it, there was just no comparison, in my opinion, to BD.

I just make suggestions in this forum with the hopes that something I and others say may spark the fire to keep AGSOI alive. So please, all I ask is to consider my comments with an open mind.

Brandon, you could sell 50,000 units of this series just by getting rid of the circus junk, and ignoring the freaks. Most swallow fans enjoy reality, which is the opposite of AGSOI.

Thanks for the feedback. Time to put this crying baby to sleep...really!

Gunzo: I cannot unilaterally raise the price of anything. It's stipulated in the agreement between me as a producer and Platinum X as a distributor that I make the movies and they sell them. I know a little bit about production. They know a lot about sales. Certain product such as the features or the Paris Hilton movie goes out at higher than normal prices. Regular gonzo releases all go out at the same price. AGSOI is no exception.

Having said that, if there was as much demand as the hue and cry would have me believe, I would have already sold enough to justify the costs of producing it. Didn't happen. No worries. The shelves are crowded with lots of high quality product and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute one title per month. From here on, however, I am running things as they ought to be run with an eye to be profitable out the door on each and every release if possible.

Terra: Thanks for the suggestions, really. You have thought out some things very well. I am just tired after 5 volumes and feel like I would like to invest my time and energy elsewhere. I think that when 50 to 1 gets to its 5th volume, I will be confident that I made the right decision. I trust my gut instincts now more than ever....it got me this far!

Entrails: 50,000 units. You just made my day. Please put your suggestions in writing and mail them to me. My address is: Brandon Iron, Planet Earth. You are obviously somewhere else if you believe that number is possible.

Seriously, this business is more cutthroat than ever. I feel lucky that Platinum X has beaten the odds and thrived to where it is in the market. There have been many changes in 3 years but I have had the luxury of doing exactly what I want. For that, I am truly grateful.

I will keep trying my best.

Thanks!
Brandon
