I heard that Fry's Electronics was now selling porn movies, which to me is a huge deal. I think if Fry's gets away with this, without too much hassle, then you might see certain Best Buys start doing the same thing. Now the last time I was at Frys, they had a shit load of Japanse animated xxx movies, so who knows, anythings possible. I've also been waiting to see if Amazon ever decides to sell adult video, since the money they could make would be huge. In fact it surprises me that Amazon just doesn't create a whole adult section selling movies, toys, and everything else you find in a high end adult bookstore.

Not sure why my topic was moved. The post wasn't suppose to be about new places to shop, as much as it was intended
to spark a discussion about legitimate retail outlets selling adult movies, and the social/political impact that would have in a community. If Fry's is really selling adult movies, then could BB be next, and wouldn't that be a watershed moment for Americas acceptance of adult entertainment.

I really wish you had left my post in the general section )

Hey there CyberChicken!

Fry's has always sold Adult DVD's (as long as they have had DVD's for sale), but recently they have been stopping because of actual sales volume is decreasing and its not a real good mover. Sales have been dropping slowly over the past six months and now Fry's has decided to discontinue because the profit margin isn't that great for them.

Well I've only been to Fry's once, and I was blown away by their Japanese Anime section, which included a whole shelf of adult hentai, but I didn't see any porn movies.

Maybe people don't want to wait in the check out line, while holding the latest gang bang from Anabolic )

That wouldn't bother me, but it would be funny as hell though )

Anyone else besides me think Amazon will eventually start selling adult movies?

There's no Fry's in my area. You're talking about Amazon.com, right? I think it would be GREAT if they started selling porn, as they seem to be able to get their hands on anything. Tracking down out-of-print, hard to find titles would be easier. And they've got plenty of customer reviews.

they seem to only sell Vivid DVDs, Playboy DVDs. I haven't seen any other companies DVDs sold there.

And I think it was metioned on another forum that the Vivid DVDs that they sell are like the spice channel versions: meaning softcore, no penetration.

Yeah I made the mistake of buying three Vivid VHS at a music store, they were all softcore.

A few times they got in shipments of NuTech DVDs for $6.99 each! I loaded up on them each time, but they haven't gotten in any more in a long time. They carry a lot of VCA titles but they're all overpriced ($34.99, Tower sells them for $24.99).

Many Tower records stock adult DVDs, as well as some Virgin Megastores.
The CD Wherehouse's in the LA area also sell adult DVDs, and I'm pretty sure they're the normal versions, but it's pretty much just Vivid and VCA.

Amazon.com used to sell some adult, but made a large press announcement sometime during the last year that they were going to stop selling all XXX product. Evil Angel's stuff was on amazon through gamelink.com.

The Virgin Megastore here in Phoenix stocks adult dvds and I believe they are the regular versions of the films. I have looked at some of them and have no reason to think they aren't the real film and not a cut up version. I wouldn't buy any there, though, because the prices are to high, same reason I wouldn't buy any titles from my place I rent vhs from, they are just to high.

Yeah, the Virgin stores sell the full hardcore versions. However, the Virgin stores that are located in malls like the one in Phoenix need softcore covers because they don't have a blocked off section for 18-over customers. That's why Evil Angel has done about 25 2-sided covers, for stores like that one, so that they can stock our product.
They don't care if the content is hard. Their cashiers monitor the sales to make sure minors don't buy the adult product, but they don't want some 14 year-old looking at hardcore pictures.

Frys has sold porn for a long time. I've never seen any DVD's there, but I dont go there to buy my DVD's. I have seen mags for as long as I can remember.

As for Best Buy selling porn, they've done it for awhile. Now it's not what you think. It's just playboy playmate vids, all really softcore stuff.

I've browsed at the Adult DVD section at Fry's. I don't like shopping for Adult DVDs at Fry's because they packed those DVDs into a small section. It's very hard to move DVDs around to look for the ones you want. If they shelf them in a way that's easier for customers to browse through them, it would be easier for them to sell them.
