If I'm not mistaken, Calli Cox went to The University of Illinois and got her teaching credential there. Oops...that's a Big Ten university, not Ivy League.
hmmm, talk about over qualified, I'm sure there is some porn stars out there that have. The problem is they more than likely where only in the business temporarily. I mean think about I can't imagine that they are many drop outs from Brown or Columbia. If they did graduate I doubt they would find their respective degree would have much use in the porn industry. Would any extra value associated social elitism from a degree from an Ivy league institution be ruined by the social stigma of appearing in a porn movie? All of this is conjecture though, I hope there are stars that have gone to an Ivy. The closest i've got is Asia Carrera, not for obvious reasons, she is Rutgers alumni which is the "Public Ivy" apparently Rutgers was invited to Ivy league back in 54 but the university declined.
Quite a few execs in the adult industry are alumni of Ivy League and other selective schools.
More than a few nude models ...Playboy...etc are Ivy League grads...including Traci Bingham from Baywatch fame...think she's from Boston and went to Harvard.Playboy ran a "girls from big 10, ivy league, big east" gimmick years ago...where they got coeds from those schools to pose.
Playboy has done such a marketing job over the years that most people don't even view it as porn anymore, but it is.
As with all other schools, you get all types of people at selective schools. I'd guess a trust fund kid would do it on a lark or just like a free thinker from Brown or some artsy fartsy type.
since i have been in the adult industry i would say that probably 99 percent of the girls and 95 percent of the guys i have worked with or been around have not graduated from college. a few have attended some college, or gone to junior college, but actually finished a 4 year bachelor's degree? none that i know of. some of them say they do, but then their timeline is always all wacked when you start asking for specifics. if you are 20 or 21, please tell me how you are a university graduate? lol. then they always say that they graduated HS at like 15 or some shit. Or they go the way of the Sharon Mitchell PhD route. And their "degree" is from the SE Florida Agricultural and Mechanical School for Distance Learning. lol. I get a lot of humor out of some of the girls responses about school. I would LOVE to see Asia Carrera's diploma from Rutgers by the way. The simple fact is that this business isnt populated by people who entered porn because they didnt feel like the microbiology courses at Stanford were challenging enough for them.
A few of the MILF's dont count, some of them attended college WAY before they entered into this business.
My favorite story is a girl named Leola Jossi, who was only around for like a few months doing girl/girl. And she was not the brightest star in the sky. And she was telling me that she attended Harvard and studied some sort of chemistry. My father is a Biochemist, so i started asking her softball questions about science, and she didnt know shit. Like the atomic weight of gold, or what did the Krebs cycle deal with, i mean easy questions. Good times.
That's funny to hear that people would lie about that sort of thing christianx. I'm interested, have you caught out any male porn stars trying to lie about going to college? lol.
College isn't the answer for everyone however and just because you don't go to college doesn't mean your stupid, what is stupid is lying about it. I can think of other reasons beside career prospects or an intellectual challenge for going to college, family pressure for example. The thing is a career in the porn industry limits your career choices outside of the industry. So when it comes to starting a career in porn, that particular career path would be less attractive to someone that has a greater career choice, such as graduates, especially graduates of Ivy league schools because of the greater opportunity costs involved.
Do you think that Asia was lying about her scholarship to Rutgers? I heard she was quite smart, so I wouldn't think it would be all that of a stretch of the imagination if she did.
I would love to catch someone out lying about doing a Business or Economics degree because I am Econ undergrad, and lets face it that's what degrees are really good for. XD
R.Jordan, Zak Smith has got some skilz i'm not big on art but I like it. A background in porn is bound to help in getting your name out there. You can always depend upon the Art scene to accept the unconventional.
I'm not surprised a lot of the girls try and lie. What they do isn't exactly glamor modelling and requires no talent whatsoever except being born genetically female. After a while, there is a guilt for having such a lack of talent in anything other than appearing to have no emotion and having a high threshold of pain and fake silicon in your breast plate. Practially any girl today can be in porn so long as she doesn't care what the world thinks- and because of this, and the added interest in "fans" wanting to know more about them, they have to atleast appear or feel to be good for something other than just sex.
Cairo, I'm going to have to disagree with you that "I doubt they would find their respective degree would have much use in the porn industry." Now, I did not go to an Ivy League school, but I did graduate [Phi Beta Kappa] from Wesleyan University in CT. Wesleyan is considered a "little Ivy" by many and academically is absolutely just as competitive as the Ivy League schools. But I'm not posting to blow my own horn. Although I don't consider myself a porn star, I did perform in 3 movies (one in an all anal group scene) before I stepped behind the camera. I don't think that the value of my education has been "ruined" by fucking on film. Although come to think of it, the Alumni Magazine still hasn't called to do a big feature on me...
I think what a lot of porn fans fail to recognize is the adult film industry is an actual business, actually the biggest business in the United States if I am not mistaken. And it takes some intelligence to run a business or a career if you are in it for the long haul. I know this veers off the topic of Ivy Schools, but I think porn people should get more credit then some people are giving them.
That's the thing with Art Degrees. Zak Smith went to Yale and got a fine arts degree, but I still think his art sucks, at least what I've seen of it.
I'd say most of the art pieces that I've liked have been from non classically trained artists. I'm not trying to say that Art degrees are worthless, but um......... well, maybe that is what I'm trying to say.
I'm don't think that Asia Carrera has ever stated that she graduated from Rutgers, simply that she attended. In fact, she has talked in the past about one day finishing her degree.
I jacked off to Christian's reply simply because he is Christian.
I get annoyed at girls who are touted as being above and beyond average in intelligence who still can't construct a coherent constructive sentence on ADT. I mean, I've had 15 beers tonight and I can still do better. Then again, outside of Jamesn, I find Ivy League grads to be overrated.

Sorry Tristan, I wasn't very clear before so let me clear up a few things. When I was referring to the porn industry earlier, what I was really talking about was performing, we all know the skills needed to be a good porn star are.......... I don't want to offend anyone here, so let me think of something diplomatic, ermm.............. vocational, that's good! If your talking about other areas of the business besides performing, like Production, filming and ect I'm sure a person would benefit a from what they've learned (education) and what they've earned (schooling). The other thing is there is a subtle difference between Schooling and Education but neither is really relevant when your performing. When you say "ruined", do you mean the same options available to you before performing are still available? My point was that performing narrows the choices available to you outside of the porn. Also there's 3 things you should remember.
1) Nothing can take away from your Education............ unless you forget it.
2) Never let anybody stop you from doing what you know in your heart is true
3) I really dig your movies so if it was you I would have a hard time to think of a reason not to publish 6 page feature spread on you in the alumni magazine, sure i'll get fired but it'll be worth it. XxX
T.J. Hart didn't go to an Ivy League School but she did get 3 degrees from Univ. of CO: Education, Psychology and something else. And she swam on the U.S. Swim team. Not bad.
(It is scary that Ron Jeremy still has a license to teach in New York State.)
I know many people believe being a female porn performer doesn't require any skill, but I personally am not interested in watching or working with a girl who thinks her boob job makes her qualified. and I certainly don't want to be on set with someone who "appears to have no emotion".
My favorite female performers - Belladonna, Annette Schwartz, Princess Donna, Adrianna Nicole...to name a few - are incredibly intelligent, creative women with honed improvisational and communication skills that make every scene they do a performance worth watching. Maybe this isn't the kind of thing they teach in Ivy League schools, but I do think that smart women are more adaptable performers - that they are more likely to be capable of finding and cultivating what's sexy in a large variety of situations. A performer's intellect often determines their ability to create a visually compelling scene rather than just rubbing body parts together.
Not Ivy League, but according to Wiki, Dana Vespoli gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from Mills College, where she was also co-captain of the Varsity Rowing team.
True, is not about that for me though. It isn't even got anything to do with intelligence, having a good degree isn't necessarily the indicator of intelligence. For me personally and maybe others it's about a bookworm fantasy. It's not like if a girl has an Ivy league degree she's more attractive or anything. My ex graduated from LSE (London School Economics) which is akin to an Ivy league school, and it's not like I asked to show her my degree while we doing it. Also there isn't a lot of attractive people at these places, so if their hot as well it makes them even more unique. I don't know what it is exactly it's totally irrational, like my sassy German fantasy.

When you get into a top school through your own merit and graduate through your own merit it is a big deal. The few who got in because of daddy don't take that away.
