kind of an odd issue - i've never had this happen to me...

my Opera browser won't load up...

i click the icon to start it up and it seems to try to start but then halfway through it just gives up trying to open the browser but still runs the program at half speed...

i checked the Task Manager to End Process but then there's a separate Opera .exe file that is 2,956K of Mem Usage - and everytime i end that process, about 5 seconds later, it just shows up in the Task Manager again...

i also ran SpyDoctor and AdAware6 and got all the spyware that the programs could find...

so, do I have a virus of some sort? thanks in advance for any help

I'm sorry to say this, but you probably have some malware -- something that your current antivirus/antispyware programs aren't catching.

I'd try downloading Spybot Search & Destroy, update the definitions, and then boot Windows into safe mode and run your scans again.

If nothing turns up, you probably need to reformat and reinstall the OS. Good luck.

i ran Spyboy and it found more spyware...

now my question is - why can't these spyware bots find everything the first time? i have 3 spyware programs now - too much...

By definition, the people who write security software are always playing catch-up.

Allegedly, some of these so-called security companies are getting paid off by the companies who write spyware to exclude their products from the scans, so you really need to run several.

On my work PC, I have four spyware scanners plus Symantec antivirus (the defs are updated by my IS guys). It's actually quite sad.

It's an ugly, ugly world out there on the internet.
You're fair game and the sooner you realize that, the better off you are.
Yes, Virginia, there are hackers out there to get you.
