Global Priority usually takes 3days to a full week to arrive, which is much more fun, and also a lot more predictable.
When/if they show up I'll be sure and post in this forum.

| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | To be honest I don't see much point in emailing them with abuse. There's a couple of reasons for this: 1) They changed from GPM to nondescript boxes out of repeated posts and such on the Shopping Forum, so they did it with the best of intentions. Their mistake was changing shippping methods hastily without mentioning it anywhere (or updating their pages). 2) They are about to (or just have) changed their international shipping options again, again in response to posts such as your and my own in these forums - they recognise the problem and are trying to fix it. 3) Since they monitor this forum, they -know- what I think. I may now be a mod for this forum, but above that I'm another international customer who voices my opinions. Regardless of whether it's a "bad rap" ;) or not. - And of course however long I wait I'm going to post what's happening with my order. -it's not shit or slander or even bitching - just a simple statement of fact on however long my order is taking. I always find the facts are better than a slagging. Their Customer service (to me at least) has been reasonably good, just that my order was placed at the wrong time while they work out the best way to ship internationally (to many different countries with differing -and changing- laws)... DB, thanks for the kind words. Have you considered changing your moniker from "Dumb" Blone to "Dirty" Blonde? you get to keep the "DB" and I woulnn't feel like I'm insulting you when I type your handle.. methinks thats why everyone calls you "DB" or "Blondie" ;) cheers, scipio Edited by - scipio on May 4 2001 |

I did choose the name, after all the dumb blonde jokes I've heard, and it doesn't bother me at all ;) I kinda like the Dirty part, though! I'll have to get with Steph and see what the legalities are. Thanks again, Blondie |

| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | Actually I'm doing this with my own self-interest at heart. A nasty email would only serve to burn bridges between myself and fivestar, whom I may want to order from again. As it is, I'm not happy, you're not happy, and everyone including fivestar -knows- of the current situation regarding your order and mine because of this forum. Discussing it in a public forum as we are, by keeping it to a civil statement of facts, noone can accuse us of anything bad Whenever the order shows up, and whatever their reply is when I email them at the 8-weeks-after-shipping-mark reflects on them. While my not slagging them for a postal problem shows what a reasonable fellow I am. As to the cost-difference, yep I understand perfectly, since the Australian peso is worth only slightly more then the NZ rupee. It's nothing to be sneezed at. The thing is the old adage "please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery" holds well in your favour, since companies will do nothing before the 8 weeks is met, since it could be somewhere in the post. I know for a fact that ALL parcels shipped by Australia Post are -automatically- insured for au$50. Perhaps some companies that ship internationally could look into seeing what local postal policies are? (I'm sure 5-star, a US company might not know what policies of this nature Royal Viking Post (Denmark) has... scipio |
