i don't want to be a pornographer, but i don't want something totally silver and disposable, does it even make sense to buy something now? i've got a price range in mind, but you'll just talk shit if i mention anything to do with money. you'll have to agree not to, it's not absurd or anything.

where? if you're referring to this thread, probably 1-3. if it makes any real difference in how long it's going to remain useful or features that make a newbie look ok, i don't have a huge problem going a little higher.

here's my level of ignorance-would a cheap-o camera actually make someone who had no clue look better than an expensive one? do you pay for precision or forgiveness?

i kinda want something to do early marraige with, if it lasts to jamesnspawn, that's a huge plus. i don't want to hire grips, but i'm generally horrified with the quality of home video, and i've got a bug up my ass about self-expectations.

Forgot to mention. Get one of those super mini folds up to nothing tripods. If you can get one that has a little clamp, even better. It'll let you do a nice "here were are in where ever we are" two shot. Invaluable for good homemovie/travellog video.

Check out the Cullmann 3400 -- a ridiculously inexpensive, light-weight and versatile video tripod incorporating a monopod with a QR head as its center column.
