Rather than order by mail some items from HighTide-Video watersports dvds, I am thinking to buy them from a brick and mortar store. It is suggested that in Amsterdam it may be possible to pick some of these up. Can anyone over there vouch for this for me ? It would be a large detour if to no avail ?

Thanks in advance.

Z.

I'm not sure what a brick and mortar store is but be careful about buying movies in Amsterdam at the red light district. Those prices are way way too high and not worth it. I think it would be safer and cheaper to buy them online.

Ramsey, brick and mortar means a regular shop, i.e. in a building open to the public(!), rather than an online store!

I second what you're saying about the red light district in Amsterdam, it seemed like a total tourist trap. All the shops had different names but the price tags on the videos were the same, suggesting a monopoly and little or no competition. I ended up buying discs in Virgin megastore!

ziniaraya, while you might get what you're after (the shops are laden with porn), there's absolutely no guarantee. The prices are very high and I wouldn't go there just to get these movies. I know this is one of those subjects which is risky to order into the UK, but that's the state of play.

I emailed High Tide quite some time ago and at that stage they said they had no problems sending goods to the UK, but I just felt it was still too risky. Am I right in thinking they're based in Australia, which is perhaps not as obvious a porn connection as Holland?

The red light district is being runned by the Dutch mafia who owns all the stores and that's why they all have the same (high) prices.

Gabriel, I've never heard of High Tide, but if you could let me know some contact info for them, I'll try to see if I can find out if they're Australian-based.

cheers,

scipio

Sure, scipio - here's High Tides's site. Lots of sample pics and videos to check out!

They're using a credit card billing agent called Ozbill and Australian orders will be subject to sales tax, so that's what makes me reckon they're in Australia. Raking around the site, I see that EU orders will be filled from within the EU, US orders from within the US. I'd love to know if UK customers have successfully ordered from this company - they are just too expensive to risk a seizure.

Ramsey, thanks for the info re: red light district! I can't say I am surprised...

I've ordered from Hightide once and it went very smoothly, unmarked DVD in a plain package, very discreet and reasonably fast delivery. I plan to order more in future, you can buy in confidence!

We have several High Tide titles in stock and we can get the others if you don't mind waiting a bit longer, all shipped from within the UK, so no customs problems. And you help ADT too, if you buy from this link, or the one on the shoppingpage.

Thanks Jacco. I didn't know YourChoice sold them I'd assumed they were exclusive to HighTide's site for some reason.
