I received a Global Priority Mail envelope today, with a return address showing it was from adultcdmovies, and a post mark dated January 25. I opened it thinking my missing order had finally arrived.

Instead of the movies I had ordered the only contents was a DVD sampler from "Leisure Time Europe" bearing a R18 logo. On close examination the envelope had clearly been opened and taped close again.

I can understand someone stealing my movies but why they would bother to make a substitution of this kind is beyond me. The clear inference from the R18 logo is that it happened on the UK side of the pond.

Has anybody had anything similar happen?

This has happened before Athos. Again with global priority envelopes and the Leisure Time replacements. I'll try and locate the thread where it was brought up before.

Maybe worth writing to Royal Mail so they can try and track down who is responsible.

If they get a few complaints they may bother to try and find out what is going on.

Thanks to Another porn addict for pointing out the earlier thread - interesting reading. WTF is going on? Personally I suspect customs - some very warped personalities doing that job.

Please do complain to the Royal Mail, Athos, as this beyond a joke. In my experience, they do treat theft of post very seriously. If you do raise a complaint, please let us know how you get on.

While it doesn't excuse the theft for one moment, it isn't very bright of adultcdmovies to advertise their name with their return address on the package - a contact name at that address is a much more subtle way of going about it.

I suspect that's what happened me a few months back when I had some Japanese DVDs 'confiscated' by HM customs. These were ordered from a reputable source in Japan which I had used before without problems. All the DVDs I ordered had been approved by the Japanese censors - the business parts were pixellated. IMO none of these films would have been illegal in UK or USA.

I've been sufficiently annoyed by this, and by the current obsession of the industry with anal sex, that I've given up buying porn for the time being.

As you say Athos, WTF is going on?

I agree with you Athos. I reckon it's someone in UK customs. The fact that the discs that people have ordered are replaced with the Leisure Time discs which have R18 classification points strongly towards it happening in the UK (they don't have R18s in the US, and would have little reason to import R18 titles) and the fact that it is always the Leisure Time discs suggests (at least to me) that someone has got a stock of these (replacements). I reckon that UK customs have got a stock of these (Leisure Time discs - probably confiscated somewhere along the line). I don't reckon someone in the UK postal service would be as likely to have the same stock of Leisure Time replacements (unless they used to run Leisure Time or something!).

Makes for slightly nail-biting reading as I've just placed an order for 4 discs from the US using the Global Priority Envelope shipping method. I'll update this thread at a later date with regards to successful delivery or otherwise.

I've reported this matter to the Royal Mail by telephone and I am currently awaiting a reply-paid envelope to send them the offending Global Priority envelope. We'll see what happens.

I'd be really interested to hear where this leads Athos. Just wonder how Royal Mail will get on with investigating Customs as I would have thought that Customs are pretty much a law unto themselves (as said before, it seems highly likely to me that this is where the problem is occurring - does anyone else think otherwise?)

I think someone at Customs should grow up and become sexually mature. Probably some pee-wee kid who thinks it's smart and funny to do such things.

Discs turned up fine today (Global Priority envelope) but envelope seal was slightly torn as if someone might have been having a peek inside (could equally have just been perfectly innocent occurrence during transit) Thankfully I didn't have discs that I ordered nicked/swapped etc.

But how does he get his hands on Leisure DVD's to make the swap?

I'm only guessing here....but my bet is that Customs seized a batch of these and they're in their seized batch stocks. Probably because there's a fair quantity involved the odd-one-here-and-there walking can go unnoticed (if indeed anyone pays attention to such things).

So not only is someone stealing DVDs, they are illegally supplying R18s via the mail.

I think you might have inadvertently knocked my idea on the head Tinaka. If it is indeed Customs where this is happening, why would they have confiscated R18s? Doesn't seem to make sense. R18s are only made in the UK, and therefore Customs wouldn't have seized R18s coming from outside the UK would they? Unless I guess they might have been ordered from/produced cheaply outside the UK (eg. in the Far East or something). The only other possiblity is that LeisureTime might have been shipping these outside the UK for some unknown reason and they were intercepted at that point, though this seems much less likely an option to me.

The fact that it has involved LeisureTime discs on all occasions over a span of time must mean that whoever is doing it is the same people/persons and that they have a stock of LeisureTime discs to swap.

The evidence is currently with the Royal Mail (unless it got lost in the post) and I am awaiting developments.

This has got to be someone in customs where else could people go rummaging through the mail and opening packets without suspicions being roused? I guess the packets are being resealed and sent on so that items don't seem to just disappear? Where the Leisuretime samplers fit in is truly baffling.

Athos,

I am sorry to read about your misfortune and hope you find a solution very soon.

If it's any consolation, I think this problem could happen to any of us. So, chin-up chuck
