I have found this John Holmes filmography:

http://www.whoisjohnholmes.com/filmography.html

in which are included two strange titles:

La Traviata ( I didn't know he had a golden voice too!)

and Carnal Knowledge. Haven't seen this from a lifetime, can somebody confirm he's there? Or is the title a porn rip-off of Mike Nichols movie?

That also reminds me to have seen Ron Jeremy credited as being in Jesus Christ Superstar, together with Paul Thomas. But, though I have watched the movie attentively, haven't been able to pick him up. Is he really to be found there?

Ron Jeremy has been in a bunch of mainstream films, including Detroit Rock City and Spun.

I know it. But I care about that one because it was made 7 years before his debut in hardcore.

Remember that Jesus Christ Superstar was first a musical. It has been performed at many different levels (Broadway, touring companies, local productions, etc.) and Paul Thomas was in the musical version. I'll see if I can track down more specifically when and where. Whether or not Ron Jeremy was in the musical I don't know, not having read about that in the past. As for John Holmes being in Mike Nichols' Carnal Knowledge or La Triviata, I would sincerely doubt it.

More info to clarify misunderstandings...

The movie Carnal Knowledge listed in the John Holmes filmography likely came from this
IMDB entry which is not the same as the one for the Mike Nichols' film Carnal Knowledge which is from 1971 and is found at
this IMDB entry.

As for La Traviata , the filmography likely got its info from this IMDB entry which indicates it's a 1955 TV production from the UK with John Holmes in the Barone Duphol role.
Although the IMDB indicates through its links that this is the adult film star John Holmes, it also indicates he was born in 1944, putting him at 11 and living in Ohio in 1955, a bit young for the role and far away to be cast in a UK TV operatic production.

Still more info, this time about Paul Thomas. The Entertainment Weekly article on him (that came out after Boogie Nights came out indicated that he was in the Broadway version of Jesus Christ Superstar and in the movie version as well. He was also in the Broadway version of Hair . These roles were likely under his real name of Paul Tobus (given in the article). The article did not say what roles he played in the musicals.

And I keep doing this in an unorganized way.
I checked the Jesus Christ Superstar IMDB entry and Paul is there playing the role of Peter. Ron Jeremy is also there, and they say he's "uncredited". Perhaps he was an extra. The cast list for the movie in the IMDB entry is quite a lengthy one, although it appears Paul Thomas' role is more significant.

Thomas is playing the role of Saint Peter in the movie version of JCS. Didn't notice his name in the Broadway version of Hair, at least in the names appearing in the notes of the cd.
I rented the JCS vhs to spot the hedgehog and couldn't: anybody out there can?

When a Broadway musical recording is released, it will feature cast members, but cast members come and go from a Broadway musical, so Paul is not necessarily on any album. As for Ron in JCS, he'd probably have to say what role he played, which was likely little more than an extra.
