To receive a DVD that does not work? I got 3 titles today from Adult Universe (also known as Playhouse) and one of them didn't work in my player. It was "all region" just like the other two. I did notice though that that it was a DVD-R and also there was a smudge on the logo on the front of the DVD.

Would this stop the DVD from working or is there a more serious problem with the disc?

It's quite common Im afraid. Do you have some kind of access to another DVD machine or computer w/DVD? If so see if your new discs play in those. I have this problem as well and it seems to be more prevalent with porn rather than mainstream movies. I have a Cathy Creampie movie(from a company called Climax 9)and it wont load at all. My first such experience since buying my dvd machine and indulging in the purchase of dvds. The dvd is good 'cause I 'sneaked' it into the library's computer to see if it would just load and it did. I dont have an answer for this. Maybe some techies here on ADT can provide answer.

I have a PC but it only plays DVD-Roms, not DVD films.

Depending on the age of your player it is not uncommon. My oldest player can't handle several movies mainstream and adult. Though they will play fine in my newer player or my computers.
