I have been sitting here wondering how to go about this and am unable to dredge up any kind of decent response. If you have been seeing each other a long time I imagine it would be harder because she'll say "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME SOONER!" Either way you've got to do it and trying to get your way indirectly or through manipulation is something to avoid because the results are rarely dependable. She might be grateful because most women hate the idea of having a stinky vag.
I'm in a long term relationship, so I just say, "Ooh, let's jump in the shower," if anything seems too ripe. If we've been out hiking or something, I sometimes ask if I smell okay.
I generally think that if you know someone well enough to be putting your nose there, you should be able to suggest a shower. Relax, it's okay to switch gears and change direction.
WRONG -- "Wow, smells like 3 day old tuna sandwich," (technique courtesy of Porky in the chatroom).
RIGHT -- scoot back up, tongue her nipples in a lively manner, and say, "Yummmmm, let's jump in the shower," with a devilish look in your eye. Be playful and aggressive in the shower.
She will know why, but she gets to save face, and you don't have to spell it out.
Not one (not even once!) have I encountered a twat that was anything other than delicious. Healthy pussies have a wide varietIy of odors and tastes; from sweet to positively dank ( I like dank!) If a pussy is too stinky to enjoy licking, either:
A) You're way to sensitive
or
B) She needs to go see a doctor
If her pussy is in good working order and you still don't like the taste, the problem is you, not her.
Tony's right -- she could have a yeast infection or vaginitis. Here's a previous thread on bacterial vaginosis, with some possibly helpful suggestions.
I was working from the "You're way too sensitive" theory, thinking maybe you'd been out dancing, and her in pantyhose or something.
Nothing like tonguing a twat that's spent the day ripening in a pair of pantyhose! :-P

Wow, porky finally makes it into the forum, although vicariously.
nietzsche, I'd suggest just taking a bath or shower together. Besides, sharing a bath or shower can be fun too.

I did that with a girl once, and the bitch refused! "I just showered this morning" was what she said. Didn't smell like it. Needless to say, she didn't get any head from me that night.

It really depends on how long and how serious the relationship is.
If it's fairly new, then I concur with what lindi and the others have said.
If it's been going on for a while, then it might be OK to be a little bit more direct about it if she's not an overly-sensitive type.
Just thought of something: have you been with her any times when she smelled fine? Or have you been with her multiple times and it's always been less than good? If she's smelled fine, then it could be either sweating from the day or a temporary infection. If it's always been bad, then it could be a worse type of infection or else, I hate to say it, just bad hygiene.
Maybe it's just because I'm so open about communication during sex, but if I'm having a not-so-fresh day - usually thanks to antibiotics which give me a yeast infection - I prefer to be told.
