Sorry but I am really always don't understand after watching porn for more than 10 years.

While there are up to thousands of porn actors we can see and available in the market and they don't often work with one or two partners in their videos.

How do they protect themselves from getting STDs?

99% porn I see they are doing without condoms.

Just a matter of pure trust?

^Performers are somewhat luckier now than in the past because every performer has to have a valid 14 day STI test to work in porn(it used to be every 30 days) so quite a few performers who have an STI are caught and taken out of the active porn pool. Doing that means that they won't be able to infect anyone else but of course the fact that they have an STI means that they may have worked with other performer prior to getting a positive test and or someone in the industry was infected and infected them prior to his or her test.

First, is 14-day enough to guarantee someone has or does not have a STI ?

How about the 14-day period?

What if they have done any porn job or personal sex during that 14 day period?

Who knows?

The number one tool to help prevent an STI is a condom but the only Country that require that all their porn performers use a condom during the penetration portion of a scene is France. The only American studio that requires that all their performers use a condom during the penetration portion of the sex scene is Wicked Picture . Now some may argue that performers have the right to request a condom be used in their sex scene but since none of them do that then I must assume that performers are discouraged from doing that.

You are never likely to see a shorter testing window than 14 days because the test cost over 150$ and performers have to keep getting tested every 2 weeks so if a performer wants to be active for all 365 days of the year then she will fork over at least 4000$ just on an STI test. How many jobs in the US require that employees pay that kind of money to work?

Hi. Thanks for your reply again.

I am not in the US. I am asking this question out of curiosity for quite some long time.

In a conclusion, did you mean that, after all, it's a matter of trust and self-discipline and no strictly logical way for the performers to protect themselves?

If it's that "risky", how much on average a male performer and a female performer will get ? Are they usually paid per scene or per job or per hour?

^In my opinion it's mostly luck more than anything else that prevents performers from getting an STI. The one tool above all other that would help limit STI transmission is a condom and you almost never see any.

Take a look at the below link about porn performer rates. You will notice that rates are based primarily on the type of sex the performer is about to perform.

Everyone is tested, and word gets around fast if you engage in dangerous behavior. Historically sex workers have lower STI rates overall because we're tested constantly to work. A positive result can shut down filming not just on your scene, but affect the whole industry and is very serious. It's also relatively rare.

No it is not just luck, quite the opposite. They do test themselves often and most are careful. Much more so than any random people NOT working in the industry.

You have to give that to them.

The bigger risk lies, I would say, when they are meeting customers off movie sets, those that do.

If all people were as careful and took care of themselves as the porn stars did, we would have a faar, far smaller problems with STI...

^^I didn't say it was just luck but mostly luck because the one tool above all other that would help keep them free of an STI is a condom and unless you are aware of something that I'm not then performers as a rule never use them. If they were really careful about their health than I can assure you a condom would definitely be the first thing they would require their partner(s) use during penetration. Especially in porn where the person you are with has likely been with a multiple people in the last few days.

Maybe performers other curricular activities put them at greater risk but it's generally believed that most of them do that now so technically speaking they are all now at higher risk.

The below is from a 2018 article discussing STI's in America and while you could argue that this is primarily talking about non-performers. I say that it's probably the same or worse in the industry because the people have significantly more sex and with a lot more people than your average American.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, in 2017, Americans contracted about 1.7 million new cases of gonorrhea. That's 100,000 more than in 2016, itself a record-breaking year for infections, and about twice as many as in 2010.

They contracted over 555,000 new cases of gonorrhea, again 100,000 more than in 2016 and a spike up of over two-thirds since 2013. And they contracted over 30,000 new cases of syphilis, 2,600 more than in 2016 and four times as many cases as were reported in 2000. And those are just a fraction of the 20 million new STIs contracted in America every year-that we are able to detect. All told, experts agree half of all Americans will likely contract an STI by the time they hit age 25.

Condoms are protecting for gonorea and even aids but how about the new horrible STD's such as HPV. This is the most and most common sexually transmitted disease and there is no treatment at this point. It causes cancer in women and there is no treatment developed till now.

20% of population have HPV at this moment and the only way to understand is DNA test. You can never understand whether you have HPV or not.

Porn stars are regularly having blood tests for STD's but I have never heard DNA test for HPV for any porn stars. These are the genital warts causing cancer and very dangerous. I can count many pornstars with genital warts. Look at the movies and you see warts in many of them.

^Actually condoms can protect performers (in most cases) from an HPV infection but in this instance the condom should be used as a last line of defense against HPV because there is no current test to detect HPV virus so every performer should get vaccinated and this way they could literally stop worrying about one of the most common STI.

They are getting STDs, the curable ones or the ones that you can suppress with meds. It's mandatory for condoms to be used in adult films that are produced in California, companies are fined for non compliance. Evil angel, kink, james deen, ttboy have been fined thousands of dollars.

You usually diagnose HPV with your Mk I eyeball. Or you can check samples in a microscope. It is treatable, -ish, however but takes time and effort, not very fun for the patient.
Those people probably don´t spread it however, the ones without symptoms does.

And yes, the cancer HPV can give is treatable, sort of, if diagnosed in time.

Not saying it is not dangerous, just that you got some things wrong.

And I repeat, if all people were checked as much as porn stars, STDs would be less of a problem. But yeah, sure, I guess some of the stars have risk behavior but so does alot of other people out there. Probably more so, but they are not "monitored".

Condoms would probably not be the 100% safe soloution. It would prevent spreading of diseases but how many porn clips are just a dick going in and out of a pussy and that is it? You would have to change the sex in the movie to basically just that. Well some dick sucking with condom on and then some pussy licking with whatever that is called that is availble to cover it up..
You mioght as well just stop doing porn then.

I am pretty sure safe monitoring, treatment when or if it happens, just like with anyone and education, enlight the stars how it works - is the "soloution".

Problem with gonorrhea is, of course, the resistant strains. But that is another issue altogether..

^Actually the CDC says that there is no current test to detect HPV so while you can probably see if a person has genital warts. It doesn't really help that person because he/she is already infected. You can test for cervical cancer but I would argue that if you are diagnosed with cervical cancer than the whole HPV argument is a moot point for you because you have cancer.

If porn performers were the epitome of what you should do to help prevent the propagation of STI than why did the industry require that performers be tested every 14 days instead of once a month? Why is it that since the industry has gone to the 14 day requirement? There has still been multiple shutdowns.

Of course condoms aren't 100% effective but they are still far better than using nothing. By your own argument. Every police officer should stop wearing bullet proof vest because they aren't 100% effective.

Interview with Cherie Deville!
Honest answers to honest questions!
10.jpg
"I am an adult in the USA. I am allowed to do anything I want with my body. I don't need the government telling me how to have sex and what tools I need to do so."

IMG_9328.jpg
"I can't think of a job that has no risks at all. Even someone with a desk job can get carpal tunnel syndrome or cervical spine issues. I accept the risks of this job. I would like the government to respect that I am allowed to do as I chose with my body."

D1LqGKdU4AEI57O.jpeg
"The real thing is everyone knows the dangers of unprotected sex. We take those risks every time we go to work. I do have a question for all the ex-porn stars who have bad things to say about porn: "Why did you do porn if you didn't like it? Why would you ever do something that makes you that upset? Take some responsibility for you actions for goodness sake!!!"

Cherie.jpg

In 99% of porn scenes I found that the guy doesn't wear a condom
but 99% of time they "don't ejaculate" inside the girl but at the end of the day,
the girls wait for them to jerk off themselves and the girl eats the cum

Is it one of the possible safety practices?

"Safety" is incidental in that scenario. The cumshot is a historical thing to prove the sex wasn't simulated and that has continued today.

An internal cumshot increases the risk of transmitting/contracting an STD but genital on genital carries significant risk also. A2P is also pretty risky without a cumshot as bacteria that cause no harm in the rectum can cause serious problems if they get into the vagina.

Yes, of course! Medics recommend to avoid high-risk sexual practises like internal vaginal and anal ejaculation. They recommend all performers to use condoms.
Disease and health risks among workers in the adult film industry are real!
Yes! Some performers try to minimize risk because of safety reasons. Creampies (especially anal creampies) are definately increasing risk level. Higher risk associated with anal sex is a consequence of microinjuries of anal mucosa that typically come with anal penetration. The reason double anal and anal creampies are so dangerous is because the mucous membranes of the anal cavity are very thin and are easily torn during anal sex. That is also the reason why the receptive partner is at higher risk.
Anal to vaginal sex without using a new condom is also very dangerous!
"One potential problem is bacterial vaginosis, because it's caused by species of bacteria you don't usually see in the vagina."
It can also contribute to pelvic inflammatory disease, a condition that happens when harmful bacteria or viruses migrate from the vagina to the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries-and if left untreated, it can lead to fertility issues.
As if that weren't enough, switching from anal to vaginal sex without also switching condoms is an easy way to get urinary tract infection. The urethra is so close to the vagina, and on average the female urethra is around 3 or 4 centimeters, so the bacteria doesn't have far to travel to get up to the urethra and into the bladder. Without proper treatment, UTIs can eventually lead to kidney infections, so they're no walk in the park."

But!!! Porn is not an educational material of safe sex. Porn is an entertainment. We are porn consumers and we are paying for that porn, what we like! Porn consumers support this industry with their money. Most of them hate condoms and they ask for risky sexual acts. Naughtiness and sluttiness are essence of porn. This is the reason, why some stars are ready to increase risk level for more enjoyment of their fans. More risk - more fun! More fun - more money! More money - more risk! You are paying - they are doing your favorite porn stuff! Our life is full of risks. What about stuntmen, autoracers, boxers and many others...?

What is your porn you dream about?

safe.jpgNo risk, no extreme acts, just absolute safety forever. Is it not for you?

Do you prefer risky sex? My recomendations!

When women leave the sex industry and want to be accepted by mainstream society, they basically have to say such things.

Much like when a woman is in the sex industry, you need to take things they say as a performance - as they are still performers - when a woman leaves, you then need to take what she says as basically still a performance; but now to mainstream society.

Of course they have to say. In terms of Cherie DeVille, she is protecting herself as good as she can, she is aware of the risks and this is also for Covid or now for the monkey pox, she even got already vaccinated. But there is a risk of course on set. And BTW, Cherie is surely one of the most serious, honest, sincere and genuine girls in that porn industry, IMHO.
