If the data is in a database, how does it access that? Or does the bot just visit once in a while and catalog whatever it happens to see at the moment?

option 2, Google's bot does it's thing and handles the data however it sees fit.

To get everything, the bot would have to scraper the forum every minute or so I guess.

It hits the forum on every new post within 15 - 30 minutes. I don't know how long it takes them to include the results in their index though.

BTW, Google's bot hits ADT an average of 25k times per day.

I think I remember reading here on ADT something about using Google to search. Now I can't find it. Was it more than 30 days ago? I thought it was fairly recent.


As an experiment, in Google's search box, I entered:
site:www.adultdvdtalk.com nietzsche
just for the hell of it, to see what it found. Figured it would be lots.

It returned only four items. Shouldn't it have found lots more?

If you change that to "site:forum.adultdvdtalk.com nietzsche" you'll get a few more.
