I think I'm finally building up enough courage to buy something like this, but would like some advice since it seems most of these devices aren't exactly cheap. Then finally dusting it with a little powder and putting it back in the case. No big deal. Cleaning out toys with only one open end is harder because the water doesn't flush through. You want a pain in the ass? Clean a doll. They're too big for a bathroom sink, so it's either the kitchen sink or the bathtub. It's a struggle. It's almost like trying to bathe a cat. Ask SexShopGirl since she sells these things for a living and gets feedback. But my suggestion is this: if you really want a FL, get a FL. If you want easy cleaning, look into one of the Tenga Flig models; they get good reviews and they open up lengthwise for very easy cleaning. [Link]

I agree that Fleshlights are expensive, particularly if you don't know if you'll like it or not. Not to knock FL because I had one and it's a good product, but they benefit greatly from agressive marketing. They give out samples to people who write reviews, they advertise heavily, and they put a lot of effort into making people aware of their product. A lot of people know about FLs who haven't heard about any other men's masturbator products. There are less expensive alternatives from competitors. Some truly are crap, but some are highly regarded among users; some may find them preferable. As with anything, there are various design ups and downs to everything. FWIW, IMO, I think it's more a matter of whether a particular guy would enjoy any toy, regardless of type or brand. It's not just the sensation that's different between using your hand or a pillow, and fucking a lump of rubber; the mechanics are different. With FLs and similar toys, you either have to hold them with your hands or do something to keep them still for hands-free work. Fls are great for that because they have that hard outer shell, and you can tape or clamp it with something without hurting the sleeve. Some of the competitors also have shells; if you get one without a shell, if you're resourceful, you can probably find a can or something to use that will do the same thing with the sleeve of your choice. If you like this, you may like something expensive like a Fleshlight. If you don't like this, depending on what you don't like about it, you probably wouldn't like a Fleshlight either. IMO you'd get an informed opinion from people who are most likely to know. There are a couple of other forums that aren't affiliated with FL which may help. DollForum is mainly sex dolls but they do have a sex-toys area, and a lot of doll owners own (or owned) other toys as well, particularly Fleshlights. There's also Toy Demon, a retailer. They don't sell Fleshlights, but again, their Forum users often have them anyway and there a number of topics that compare FLs to various models of competing Japanese sleeves. You'll probably get answers there. I'm sure there are other independent forums which discuss male sex toys, but I've yet to find a good one. You could pose the question on Reddit's /r/sex, /r/AskReddit or /r/Fleshlight areas, but I don't know what the quality of the answers would be.
