It would be relatively simple to just do what you outlined. However, the end result would likely look shitty. Ever seen amateur stuff? Most of it is garbage.

It's super easy. You should absolutely go out and buy a camera and set it on a tripod and go give all the gonzo guys a run for their money. Don't wait another minute.
Well yes, it's easy to make a film, but to make one that anyone else will want to watch is not at all easy. You need models that know what they're doing and are aware of where the camera is; you need a good director, decent lighting and an experienced camera operative. Otherwise all you get is a jumble of bodies getting in each other's way without the viewer being able to see the action. As Mister Fahrenheit rightly says, most amateur films demonstrate exactly this point. All the successful movie makers had to learn their trade, just as mainstream movie makers did. A film is a film; it takes talent, know-how and experience to make it a good one.
To each his own, I know, but why the fuck would anyone want to watch amateur stuff? It's like these people who film themselves and then watch it back, presumably as a foreplay thing. Who is un-self conscious enough to do that?
^ I really enjoy sex tape stuff because it's one of the only places in porn where you can see people hanging out in a sexual context, and having conversations/communicating while they have sex.
ok. forget the tripod. I'm saying. ok. get good lighting. hire a girl- she already knows what she's doing this is her job. put a go pro on. do it for 30 minutes. why 4 hour shoots?
It's probably the higher-end studios that do a lot of extras such as shooting photosets and BTS and tease/interview stuff which stretches out the time. What is the running time of the finished scene that took 4hrs to shoot?
^^ The one time I've been on a porn set, it was basically about 4 or 5 hours from the time the female performer arrived on set until the time she left, but from the start of shooting the pretty girls (the photos shot before the scene) to the pop shot at the end of video was between 60 and 90 minutes.

Rodney Moore is a great example - his work always seems to me to exude an inteligence in the way he manages lighting and the balance of colours in his sets. And observing how his output rapidly improved he obviously applied himself to produce technically and artistically the best material he possibly could.
