| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | I'm mulling over a membership there. I like vanilla porn and the annual membership is super cheap, and I've never really heard people complain about NA the way they do about other sites. Also, the catalog is huge, so it seems almost like a can't miss proposition. But, you never know so may as well ask the community. Some questions I have: 1) How reliable are they in their update schedule? 2) What level of quality are the downloaded scenes in terms of frame rate, bit rate, etc.? 3) Do they ever have technical issues and how responsive are they in addressing these? For example, corrupted downloads, etc. 4) How is their customer service? 5) Is there anything that's just flat-out annoying to you as a member? For instance, I have Brazzers and I could frankly do without the whole comedy-porn shtick. It's not a big deal though since my annual rate with them is really cheap. 6) Is my vanilla porn assumption correct? How are the scenes generally in terms of the technical proficiency - lighting, sound, camera angles, etc.? In terms of quality, are there other sites, or networks of sites, that you would compare them with? [Link] |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | 2.) The quality level is generally pretty good, but not top of the line in terms of bit-rate. The framerate I believe is the same 30fps that nearly everyone shoots at. 3.) They do occasionally have tech issues, and their e-mail tech support is usually decent at helping fix it, but you'll have better luck if you go to their forums and report the problems. 4.) Customer service is okay though the automated process, but again you can get better support through their forums usually. 5.) Most people's biggest annoyance with them nowadays seems to be the increased reliance on VR scenes, since there's a lot of people that don't have very much interest in those scenes. Other than that, they don't go as over-the-top comedy wise as Brazzers does, it's just very basic vignette scenarios. 6.) The technical proficiency is generally fine, and pretty comparable to Brazzers in that regard. While they do have one or two exclusive directors, most of their other directors have actually shot for both companies. |

| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | It's kind of too bad about the lack of anal scenes. I wonder about that as a policy since so many girls are willing to do it. I can't imagine it's purely a budget issue since you're talking just a few hundred dollars more in most cases for a performer's "anal rate". But, it is what it is, and as I said before, the annual membership is cheap as hell. |

| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | What other sites do you think are good? Right now, I have Brazzers, PornPros (the whole network), Tushy, and Evil Angel. Tushy and Evil Angel are going away soon though. At various times I've also had Jules Jordan and XEmpire. Edited by - Porn Scout on 2/22/2018 3:56:53 PM |

| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | I've had 21Sextury at various times in the past. I like them, but there's something kind of antiseptic about their scenes. The next time I subscribe to a euro site, it will likely be either DDF or Perfect Gonzo. I had a Dogfart membership for a month maybe 5 years ago. Production values were rather poor at the time and I've found over the years that I very rarely watch those scenes that I downloaded and stored. Still, I'll probably subscribe to them again at some point. It's just not top of mind. Also, I hate the name "Dogfart". I'm sorry, I know it's meant to be funny, but it's just gross to me. |

Then they throw you a random side order of last years fries, onion rings, who knows could be anything. Then you can order from the secret menu no one can see from outside the restaurant from a growing number of food categories for an unknown price that may contain fresh food or may be something stale that was made years ago. And if you leave the restaurant for any reason they will take the food back via the Heimlich Maneuver." Other information there indicates that your monthly subscription fee gives you a small amount of random access (of their choosing) and the ability to pay additional fees to join 'channels.' I understand that the porn business has been devastated by piracy but it seems to me that fucking over paying customers isn't the solution. RIP, Naughty America. |

| Jackie Treehorn Member It'll knock both your eyes out! 311 Posts 3/04 | It's just puzzling why porn sites come up with these convoluted plans rather than something more simple and straight forward. Like maybe Tier 1- NA Classic: Access to all 1080p and lower scenes. Tier 2- NA Gold: Access to all HD, 4K and VR content for and extra $5-$10 a month. |

| shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | That particular idea lasted about six weeks or so, but managed to piss off basically their entire forum userbase at the time. (Who knows what regular users were thinking.) Sadly, I have a feeling this one is going to stick around for longer, if only because this one directly affects their revenue stream and the loss of face will be massive if they have to admit it failed. Discount sites that don't have user discussions attached are still advertising their NA deals as "get access to the entire network". (Even the landing page on NA's site still does!) I imagine they're gonna have a lot of unhappy new sign-ups over the next few days or weeks. |

The head honcho that was talking about that exciting change? He's the exact same person that was extolling the virtues of this one over the past month or so. The people underneath him have come and gone, but it's still him at the top making completely boneheaded decisions every few years and having to walk them back. |

| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | ![]() Part of the problem here is that it seems like NA is being deliberately deceptive in what they're actually offering. Look at the text next to the asterisk. Their payment processor must be getting annoyed as hell with all the refunds they (presumably) are having to process. I wonder what prompted this change in policy. NA is one of the big networks and I doubt they've been running in the red. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | I wouldn't be so sure about that. There's rumors out there that they're pretty far behind on their affiliate payments, so it is possible that they're having some cash flow problems. And also, they finally clarified on Reddit what the basic membership gets you. It's basically 100 videos per week that rotate each week, including a handful of VR videos. And this goes for every sub up to the yearly (I don't know if the year is structured that way or not). If I'm being 100% honest, that isn't a bad idea for the 3 and 7 day memberships (especially if they did something like guarantee access to the past 2 weeks/1 month or scenes on top of that). But it's arguably the worst value in membership porn when it comes for the monthly sub. Even if you logged on each week, that's $25 for 400 scenes on a network of thousands. Every other site on their level is the same price for access to thousands of videos. There's literally nothing in NA's videos that make them worth that level of value. |

| shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | I wonder why they didn't just go whole-hog and make the basic site free and use that as an openly available shop window for the paid channels, especially if it turns out that those 100 rotating scenes don't include the latest stuff. |
| SteveX Member 534 Posts 4/17 | - Very pleased with customer service, prompt refund - no bullshitting around. On the forums, I was expecting this to be the complete opposite just the way one of the Admins came across. Lack of explanation & no finesse / customer "care". They didn't care that 11yr members were leaving OR even inform them that keeping their membership would offer them all channel access - till after they cancelled their membership because an Admin dared them to...like who does that? - Not enthused at all with the new structure, I saw posts prior to this change on here which prompted me to take advantage of their "lifetime discount offer". Then I saw the crazy yearly price (5.95USD/month) and grabbed that only to be walking into a paywall. It was 17.95/m down from 29.95USD/m originally so was expecting a full site access (especially when advertised with full access on discount/review sites). - The problem is - and I addressed this with JJV before as well - the rebill cycle for yearly either doesn't rebill or will only rebill at $29.95USD, so you're immediately stuck between a rock and a hard place where you're forced to pay an extra $24USD/month to keep all your channels. There is nothing Jules could do from there end, so I suspect it will be the same in this case as well. So what happens when your account doesn't rebill? You would more than likely end up needing another account? Y/N? - Each channel is either another $17.95 / month or $50-71 dollars upfront whilst on a current membership, up to $2500USD required to open all channels? Some I believe would only have a handful of scenes and the cons on reviews are said that some sites don't get updated anymore, so if you pay $17.95USD you may only get say 10 scenes and no updates? - NaughtyAmerica was one site I was looking forward to, I'm a fan of non-degrading porn and making women more glamorous for the camera - they do this well and they offer great quality. I was expecting to pay more for their VR side, but for access to every different site/channel was a bit over the top in my opinion. Especially when most sites offer full access for $19.95 etc. I think the worst part is the lack of transparency, its not hard to have a pop-up notifying you of the changes etc. Personally, I'd rather the membership be you can access all standard channels at the $29.95USD with a VR access is $29.95USD (as its essentially 3-4 scenes a week apparently). I felt really disheartened that I couldn't just jump on and view my favorite performers' scenes. All were locked behind paywalls, I may only want to view one scene in a channel but it requires $17.95USD.... I love their product, but this is crazy. I would happily pay yearly for their product (non-VR) but not upwards of $80USD per month for only a fraction of the content. Yes, they rotate scenes but we like to pick what we want to watch - not force watch one of 100 scenes which may have only 10 that are of interest. Most of us support other sites, they seem to think customers would be happy to pay mountains of money for their content - I've never seen any evidence to support that and lets be honest, most porn customers are those who want to support the website - now it feels like they are just being greedy without any care for their new or returning members. Also, I often see posters on here saying they have a budget they stick to - well this membership would put a dent in the bank so all of those guys are definitely not going to be joining NA any time soon. TL;DR Honestly, avoid if your porn wallet isn't an open cheque book. Edited by - SteveX on 4/18/2018 2:33:54 AM |
| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | So what happens next? If they get to a point where they simply can't operate, then it's bankruptcy isn't it? I wonder if they even have the money to pay lawyers? Another possibility would be a buyout. Mindgeek is the dominant player in the industry, but who knows if they would even be interested. Personally, I would rather see a different buyer given how dominant Mindgeek is already. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | If that's what happening (and I'm not entirely sure it is), then there's enough value in the brand that someone would probably be willing to buy it, though I don't know if Mindgeek would since they already own Brazzers, which was turned into a Naughty America clone from what it originally started as and then proceeded to surpass it. This isn't the first time I've seen them get desperate in their attempts to either make money (there was a time about 10-12 years ago or so where they tried to split the site in two and make people pay separately for each "tier", as they called it) or reduce costs (about 8-10 years ago there was a different time where they decreased the amount of scenes per week for a month or so and went down to as low as 5 new scenes in one week, and another time where they got caught not paying a producer before a scene went out having to pull that scene and not only lower their scenes per week by like a scene or two a week, but the scenes that were coming out were obviously done in a much cheaper manner than their normal quality), and they've normally been able to come back from it, though this time does feel a bit different. Edit: I see this ending one of two ways. The first is that this was always intended to be a short-term money grab to solve cash flow problems, and they go back to normal and spend the next year or two trying to build back trust in their brand again. The second is that this is a last ditch effort, and the company gets sold out to someone that decides to keep the name going, but maybe do things a little differently. | shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | 1) PornPros does give you full access to one site/niche, so if that's all you're interested in you're not missing out on any of it after paying your upfront signup fee, 2) PornPros at least lets you upgrade from one site to all of them for a single flat fee, 3) NA doesn't have nearly the amount of content under control that Mindgeek does, and 4) unlike what Mindgeek is able to offer by having contracted/bought out lots of separate producers, the content on NA's new channels is arguably total cookie-cutter from one channel to the next. The scenarios might be different and one NA channel might be having more MILFs and the other more teens, but ultimately it's all been produced to the same standards for the last 10+ years, and thus looks virtually the same. (Arguably to an even greater degree than the other megasites...only the recently revamped RK comes close in uniformity of look in its new scenes IMHO.) That's good if you're selling that content as one single package, not so much if you're trying to charge for it a bunch of separate times. And at the risk of repeating myself, the strangest part of it is that they're still charging an "entry fee" at all. Offer separate scene packages if you have to, but making people pay just to receive the privilege to pay more to actually get anything worthwhile is rather absurd. Even with upgradeable packages there still needs to be a worthwhile amount of content in the basic tier, and it doesn't sound like that's the case here, at least not at a $17.95 price point. |
| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | And if my earlier post is on track, in that they are in fact running out of money, I wonder if it's the investment in VR that's done them in. I don't know what the average VR scene production budget is, but assuming $5,000 minimum per scene x 228 scenes, that's a total of $1,140,000 invested into that category over several years. The question in my mind is how effectively that investment has paid off in driving subscriptions. The NA managers should know this but obviously those of us on the outside won't have a clue. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | The VR scenes have always replaced normal 2D scenes(i.e. they went from 13 2D scenes a week to 12 2D/1VR to 112D/2VR), so outside of costs of buying/updating/maintaining the equipment (which, for most companies, is just top of the line GoPros placed in custom housing), their actual production costs haven't increased that much. And what they got in return, at least for the first couple of years, is a bunch of mainstream press from sites that don't write about porn, like Techcrunch and CNET, the ability to have booths at both CES and E3, and even a brief appearance in a clip on The Tonight Show. The added press more than likely drove traffic and subscriptions up, so I'm pretty sure it has been worth it. |
| SteveX Member 534 Posts 4/17 | Half the problem is they're charging HUGE prices and the memberships are hard to keep - afaik EPOCH don't rebill after 12 months or you get $29.95USD per month which is expensive in the whole scheme of things - especially when said fee doesn't actually give you proper access just a rotating bunch of scenes per week - of which you may be interested by one scene or five if you're lucky. Then 50-71 dollars USD per channel to have full access - which you wouldn't go monthly as you would lose quick once membership over and the 50-71 is the better deal, but overall its still the most expensive porn site behind LP - but at least LP you pay for what you want and get premium DP and all the crazy 5-on-1s they do. I've already seen posts on their forums coming from 10 odd year members that their credit card run out or they went with a special to "avoid the fiasco" and they lost all their channels that they were provided for being members prior - which is a kick in the guts, because it wouldn't matter how long you're a member, just as long as it was before April 2nd. They decided to cancel their memberships altogether. I don't understand why they needed such a crazy business model, its not like they have the market cornered or are offering the best porn ever. Most people on their forums have criticized the lack of creativity on their 2D side, favoring the VR with top talent and overall just lack of flavor. Unfortunately their admins don't want to provide any inkling into their reasoning or what they expect the outcome to be. I sure as hell know I'm not touching NA while they have this business model. Your money would be better spent subbing to a few top sites and the other 20 you would be able to buy for the same price of their membership offer. |
| shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | I'm biased because I don't give a damn about VR, but given that it has hardly taken off as a commercial blockbuster for any other porn producers, my feeling has always been that "regular" subscribers have essentially been subsidizing NA's VR adventures for the last few years. |

| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | I completely agree with you. It's just that I don't think any of what's going on was caused by the VR scenes. The added cost isn't that much, and the amount of scenes was never so many that they were actually taking over the site (it wasn't until they cut down on the total scenes released that they were more than 25% of the content in any given week). |
| shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | Edit: And of course, what share of those 30% are NA subscribers solely or primarily because of VR? The revenue effectively brought in by the VR offerings could well be much, much lower if a lot of subscribers merely treat it as a "nice to have" throw-in rather than an actual reason for having their subscription. Edited by - shalalin on 4/22/2018 2:35:04 AM |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | At this point, what you're asking for is pure download/traffic numbers, which you know you're never going to get. And the last time I heard that number was late Feb/early March, but it wasn't the first time I'd heard it (the time before that was sometime last year). Edit: I get that you want VR to be the scapegoat because you think it's a waste of time/money, but from what I know about what's going on things just aren't that simple. Edited by - whatsatelephonebill on 4/22/2018 2:47:48 AM |
| shalalin Senior Member 1734 Posts 11/07 | Question, as I haven't seen the specific breakdown of NA's new channels: Are all the VR videos already available and coming in the future part of one single channel, or have they broken those down further by theme as well? Anyway, I'm not meaning to scapegoat their VR stuff for any potential or actual decline in their fortunes on the 2D side. That that content has become rather uninnovative and unimaginative surely has many reasons unrelated to VR. When I'm talking about possible reasons the 30% figure might be less impressive than it looks, I'm not blaming the existence of VR as the root cause of those reasons. Edited by - shalalin on 4/22/2018 3:12:55 AM |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | They've actually done three separate VR spinoffs. Randy's Roadstop was the first one in 2015 I believe, then RealTeens VR in 2016 (which lasted the longest at about 3/4 months), and then Big Tits in VR, which had a set of scenes go up in 2016 and then another set of scenes come out this year. I don't know how any of them did except to say that RealTeens and Randy haven't seen updates in years (they did kinda tease a RealTeens revival in one of the more recent VR scenes), and Big Tits still only has 10 videos total (but the most recent one is less than a month old, I belive). And the VR scenes are split up into channels in a way very similar to the 2D scenes. Each separate theme gets its own channel (so PSE is a channel, T&A is a channel, Fuck My Ass is a channel, After School is a channel, etc.) and the ones that don't fit into those channels are split up by what niche they fall under. Just like you can't just pay one flat fee and get all the 2D scenes, you can't pay one flat fee and get all the VR scenes. |
| SteveX Member 534 Posts 4/17 | I just don't understand this pricing model. I'm meaning VR be added as your premium option on other sites - you get the basic with all the 2d access then premium is additional for VR experience. Either that or separate. The three channels split VR content is a bit insane. I don't know anyone who would pay the rates they are expecting people to pay. |
| MrHamburger Member 195 Posts 10/15 | I actually have an active subscription to them. I signed up after the change not knowing. | SteveX Member 534 Posts 4/17 | I just subbed to ZZ for 12 months, less than $9.95USD/m - no premium for full access (thank fuck), same price rebill and aren't they meant to be NA's biggest competitor? I know they make good coin, but market competition is market competition. Provide a better product at a good price & dominate - simple. I'd say NA will lose a lot and maybe a few companies are offering great deals at the moment to entice their subscribers to move across. These "Channels" are starting to become a stupid idea, I understand that Mindgeek push this a lot but you can still access a lot of content for the standard 9.95 & an extra $9.95 for premium on their sites you want to view for a month and collect some great scenes that have released over say 3 month period. I'm happy for these companies to do that, because they offer good prices for what you get. Same with XEmpire & EvilAngel they offer great deals for what you get. You don't get 10-13 scenes per week, but you get a great deal for $9.95 per month. I would happily sub to a mega-site for the GammaAE (they are looking at doing this based on their latest survey) and pay $19.95/m and then additional for their extra taboo & other bits every now and then. I think they could easily offer a mega-site, combine additional options for EvilAngel etc at sharp prices and then if you want say a DP scene from PureTaboo you can buy for $2.95 for full access or w/e - just likely they offer for upcoming EvilAngel videos. NA pay for you to only see the new scenes which is stupid really, you may not like anything that gets released or maybe only 1-5 scenes per month if you're picky and thats 19.95-29.95USD per month? Lol. Edited by - SteveX on 5/1/2018 2:03:00 AM |
