It would go away a couple of minutes later. Now I no longer get the purple haze but the top half of my screen is becoming noticeably darker than the bottom half. It gets better after awhile but it is still noticeable. I'm assuming my monitor is slowly stepping toward the light. How long will I have before it completely goes tits up? [Link] |

Nice, big, bright, power-hungry CRT. It's only a few years younger than the old one was. I have a feeling that when this one dies, or becomes unviewable, I'll finally have to convert to new technology. Which is a shame. I don't like the new monitors. [Link] |

I've never done it but it seems relatively straightforward if you get the right one. Edit - Ooops! The page I linked to is for laptops. You'll have to search for your model screen. Edit #2 - On the other hand, there's no guarantee you'd be able to fix it even if you ordered the new lamp and you might end up just wasting your time and money. I was just posting what could be an inexpensive solution. And still, I can't give you a timeframe. I have an LCD but mine is working fine and have never actually had one die.
