Are they boat anchors - I'm just looking to sell them off for $10 or $15. Is that nutty? They are from the late late 90's, but each work fine. Maybe I should just give them away - either way it would be on the "for sale / for free" board at work.

I think if you can get $15 out of either you should take the money and run. What is it, like $30 for a decent new one each?

I have 5 VCR's, want one, it's yours. As well as 3 or 4 DVD drives I am not using, 10 bucks.

I'd like to buy a NEW VCR of good quality so that I can transfer all my VHS tapes to DVD. I have several used VCRs myself, but a lifetime of use has taken it's toll on the picture quality.

If you can get your hands on an old Panasonic PV-9451, it has the best picture quality I've ever seen on a standard VHS VCR. And I've seen a lot of them. It's an old unit and it might be hard to find but I'm almost certain it would outperform just about any brand new VHS VCR in terms of SP picture quality.
I've had mine since They came out sometime in the mid to late 90s. Used the fuck out of it until I started really getting into DVDs a couple of years ago and the old Panasonic still works flawlessly. I wouldn't sell mine. I still use it. Maybe you can find one on Ebay.

Holy sheet Random, my extra one is the PV-9450, I just checked. I remember it being a little clunky with the onscreen menu but I have barely touched it for a few years - I don't even know how I wound up with 3 working VCRs. The one I currently have hooked to the TV is my old JVC workhorse.

HN - I don't know if the 9450 picture quality is as good as the 9451. Often, products by the same manufacturers don't have the same performance, for whatever reason. But the model number is close so it just might be very minor differences.
Yeah. The onscreen menu is a little clunky and the mechanism is loud but if picture quality is what you're looking for, it's there. I also have a newer Sony and a much newer JVC Super VHS machine. The picture on the Panasonic is easily superior to both (Even with the higher resolution of the JVC).
