My copy of Fire and Ice had a wad of adhesive paper (like a price tag wadded up) stuck to it, preventing it from playing, as you would expect. Easy to remove the wad, but the adhesive residue remains. Any suggestions on how to clean it without damaging the disk?

If you're gentle and wipe it off with something else quickly afterwards a little gas on a rag will remove the goo. Unfortunately I don't know if this will harm the disc. They also make something called Goo Gone or Goo Remover or something that's safe to use on dishes and things you eat off of, so I'd assume that would be pretty safe also.

Well, if you're sure that 'wad of sticky stuff' is adhesive ;-), you can use rubbing alcohol & a soft cloth. I don't
know about gasoline, but I've tried lighter fluid, and it leaves streaks. Car wax, furniture polish, and a non-abrasive
toothpaste are also good cleaners, but for glue, etc., the
rubbing alcohol would work best.

You WILL thank sonic..try water with Lestoil . The gum is gone!!!!

Note: After you're done removing it..I recommend you strongly make a purchase at CD Playright.com The substance bottle..the Quick Shield will lubricate the disc with a coating that prevents scratches and dust and will lube the disc up to prevent rotting. Rotting is very low on dvds..but it can prevent them from being unplayable in the future.

I have 3 bottles. Can't be without it if I own a glorious dvd collection.
