I have a camcorder, recorded some funny stuff, converted it to dvd. Now I want to take a 4 min section from the dvd and put it in a video file to put on my laptop and myspace.
Any suggestions? Thanks. (My laptop is a dell and only has an expresscard slot, so no firewire)

What dvd authoring programs do you have?
What video editing programs do you have?
What format do you want to end up with? (quicktime, realvideo, whatever)
If you authored the DVD yourself this should be painfully easy, it almost hurts to try to explain it.
Open the file that you used when you burned your DVD with whatever editing program you used on the footage from your camera.
Find the segment of video that you want you want. Depending on how your program works you may need to assign start/end points or you might just have to highlight the segment you want to work with.
Cut or copy it out of the video as a whole, do whatever you need to to get that 4 minute segment isolated from the rest so you can work on it alone.
save it.
If I were you I would get
Total Video Converter which is rather easy to use and work from there.

Thanks, I'll give that a try right now.
I just hooked the AV's from my camcorder to my dvd burner and made it that way, I have Nero 7 but I dont wanna reencode, or make a dvd, or capture, so its not much help i dont think.
I guess quicktime, divx sounds good too

I have nero 7 also, it should let you edit segments of the video.
I haven't used it much yet (just upgraded from 6) but if you fuss around in the menus a bit you should find an option about editing dvd video and making other types of video from a source.
If I have time I'll see if I can do the same thing tonight.
