SERIOUSPERVERT -

Have 20 and 50 dollar bills hanging out of your pockets where they can see them.

Wear a fragance known as Essence of Wallet. The kind that makes you smell of leather and old money.

Works on many women, regardless of ethnicity.

"Back then they didn't want me,
Now I'm hot they all on me.
I'm Mike Jones..."

For me it's never been a problem but I've always been extroverted and I'm a natural clown.

There is a lady named Norah Vincent who is a journalist and she wrote a book about becoming a man. For 18 months she dressed as a he, 'Ned,' did guy things like visit strip clubs, joined an all-male bowling team, lived as a man in a monastery for 3 weeks, and even dated women acting as a man. He/she writes a pretty interesting book about how women treat men, how women mistreat men, how women want to be treated by men, and how difficult she found it to reconcile the expectations that women have about men, how they want a man who's part brute and part geek.
Pick up the book. You'll enjoy the read and learn something about women most men don't know. It's titled, 'Self-Made Man,' and here's a little from Norah/Ned.

The rejection that Ned experiences in the dating scene had a powerful impact on Norah. "It's awful. I think most women don't have any idea how much guts it takes, how much emotional energy and confidence it takes to approach a woman," she says. "Men need ego because they don't get to show weakness and they don't get to show need, they have to compensate for it by a sense of, I can do this, I'm entitled, because that's all they have."

While guys may appear brutish, undemonstrative and unfeeling on the surface, Vincent found that inside they're as victimized as women by their gender socialization, the "straitjacket of the male role." What's more, although it won't please many feminists, Vincent concludes that women, not men, actually call the shots, at least where hooking up is concerned.

When you see it from a guy's point of view, you really realize that, if nothing else, at the most basic sexual level, women can really take it or leave it most of the time," she says. "Just that aspect alone already gives us a leg up because we get to choose; we get to say, I'll take you but I won't take you. That's a lot of power."

I'll say this: It's best to say too little instead of saying too much. Like driving a nail- hit it one less time to keep from fucking it up.
This works for guys too. With women, indifference is a powerful aphrodisiac.

When I built my house someone suggested I use one of those sophisticated pneumatic nailers. Hell, I even gave it a shot with good results. But then I found myself using a good 'ol hammer again, nailing them in one by one. I seldom missed, but when I did, I still managed to drive those mothers home. If it ain't sturdy, it ain't worth it.

Sometimes it's better to cut your losses.

Peace lovin' Donny Osmond.

Part of the problem is that in the end it comes down to - just do it. Everything else is to give you confidence that there is an approach that works for you.
I suppose it might help to talk to and maybe even be a little flirty with women you have no sexual interest in. No pressure because you aren't trying to get in their pants and a lot of women like to flirt. Gets you used to the idea and all.
Nobody was just born smooth. So take whatever reasonable opportunities there are to talk to women. Eventually you will find whatever your style is.

Bornyo is quite right - don't become a babbling brook. She will already know you are interested, this will just make you look bad. Plus, if I am in hearing distance, I will be annoyed.

In the end, you make your own luck. You may feel like you have a bad approach, but it gives you a better chance than never approaching. Don't be rude and don't be more glib than you can (actually) pull off.

Croy would be an excellent big brother. In the context that he took Bornyo, absolutely. After you get the jist of knowing how to give that look that women dig and able to back it up with sweet talk, be yourself. You'll be more apt to find someone compatible with you. Don't hide or blow things out of proportion just to get some ass though. If that means fucking it up from the get-go, so be it - it could save you/her a lot of headaches.

I know that I sound a little gruff on the board, but hey, when I'm out screwing around, it's a whole lotta fun! And yeah, I get my ass dogged too sometimes - I just think of it as being for the better

don't talk with the intention of hooking up, and i don't mean the pretense, i mean you have to believe yourself that you're just making conversation. don't aim for a fuck, aim for friendship. it's much less stressful and easier to do. you can be casual and don't have to worry about being suave or sexy or impressive.

Unless you're angling for a one-night stand, talk to a woman as a way to learn who she is and whether you like her, whether you feel any chemistry -- rather than as a sales pitch to her about your attractiveness.

(She'll make that decision on her own, without much help from you.)

1. One bourbon, one scotch and one beer. Depending on the environment, of course. If this is church, I'd go for the communion wine. Improvise here.

2. Make eye contact. Smile. Not the creepy baby-killer smile, the other one. No, not the "put me in a padded room" one, either. Like you're a happy person. But not too happy, and not on drugs.

3. Say "hi".

4. Body language and/or a stern "no" (or
"I'm married" or "I'm gay" or what have you) should clue you in as to whether to waste your time pursuing further conversation.

5. Watch / read the news and read books and talk to other guys about things other than pussy and sports (you know, like history, religion, philosophy, science, current events that you just learned about from watching / reading the news), so you'll have interesting things to talk about other than "I really just want to fuck, can we skip this part?"

Becoming a proficient conversationist (no, not conservationist, you right wing freak, cobalt ain't sneaking nothing subliminal in here) is a skill that only gets better with practice.

You'll learn the ebbs and flows of conversation, and once you do, you'll be a natural to talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything, whether the cops, on a job interview, God on Judgment Day, whatever. And you'll probably learn to enjoy it along the way.

But most of all, relax. Have fun. Don't take rejection personally, or if it happens all the time, check your pits and then check that smile in the mirror. See, now that's just creepy. No, now you look like a beauty pageant contestant. Natural, go for natural.

And don't forget the beer.

Talking to women is like talking to PEOPLE. Fancy that! Can you talk to people? Any people? Your auntie, your mommy, the neighbor lady you've known since you were five...? How about other people, the mailman, your mechanic, the guy at the corner store...? Can you strike up a quick means nothing conversation? "Hey, how's it going today?" "Didja catch that crap that guy said about that thing last night on the show?" If you can do that, you can talk to women. If you can't do that, go work on it. Clerks at porn shops are notoriously understimulated, go talk to one. Seriously! They put up with creepy people all the time, they won't be frightened if you stumble your way through some incredibly stilted conversation. You might end up in some blog somewhere, but who cares!!

Exactly.

Maybe the problem starts with being too goal-directed. ("What magic words can I say to eventually get this woman to fuck me?")

Or because the potential conversation is thought of as a poll about your self-worth. ("If she doesn't want to talk to me, I guess that means I'm not handsome enough, smart enough, charming enough.")

Or because you exaggerate your control over situations. ("If I say the exactly the right things, she'll like me; if I don't, she won't.")

As opposed to:

"Hmmm. This babe is really cute! I wonder if she might be fun to hang out with? Let me shoot the bull with her for awhile and find out."

i think the important thing to remember is that NO ONE is good at it, and EVERYONE gets nervous. those things are natural. that's why most people need to drink before they approach someone they're interested in. just remember this: it could always be worse. hey, it's not like you're doing a ten man blowbang on camera in front of a bunch of dirty old men for the whole world to see.

On that note, as long as he is tipping, strippers are good at this too. The ones who want to get and keep regulars are anyways.

That's true, as long as you don't forget that they're strippers, and they are NOT interested in you, or your conversation, no matter how attentively they stare into your eyes or how many times they put their hand on your arm. As long as you're tipping, strippers are probably excellent people to practice talking to.

Well if he can't remember the reality of the situation, its definitely a place to stay away from. But otherwise it isn't just a way of getting comfortable, it definitely shows how catty women get. Always trying to steal another's regular, always nasty gossip behind each other's backs.

This is probably true. Learn to be realistic, not cynical, not jaded, just realistic.
Talking to strippers might teach a fellow not to fall for the emotionally manipulative ploys a lot of women use, too. On the other hand, don't want to train him to be a player, we don't need any more of those.

Not like a stripper can't see a wanna-be playa a mile away and shoot it down.
I also find that strippers, or former strippers are good at analyzing other women (prospective gf's of mine) to more quickly spot those hidden character flaws you want to avoid in relationships. Set a thief to catch a thief and all that. But that supposes you are on good terms with one.

Shit. Extra 'C'. Fuck if I'm correcting the thing.

I like talking to strippers, but only if they're naked and I'm not, and they'll let me put my feet up on them and set my drink on their haunches and read the paper while I do.
