Here's a question I find myself asking myself all the time. If I bought a Real Doll, or any kind of realistic (expensive) sex doll; how would it actually affect my life?
Would women be too creeped out to want anything to do with me? Is that not already the case? Would it make me happier?
I've always wanted one, but these questions are hard to answer on my own.
Anybody else have thoughts on the subject?

Ask on DollForum.com, where there are a lot of owners. You may be surprised at the answers.
A lot of people will be bothered by it. Some won't. For women, a lot of it would depend on whether they're threatened by the doll or not. Something similar happens with guys if the girl has a dildo that's substantially bigger than you, or a vibe that gets her off hard and fast every time, because you wonder if you'll be fulfilling after that.
Doll owners who have wives/GFs who like dolls are usually the ones who either integrate the doll into their sex lives (for women it's a way to explore 3somes in fantasy) or where they see the doll as a way of drawing off husband's excess sex drive in a way that keeps him happy and at home.
Whether you'd be happy with one: depends a huge amount on your expectations vs. reality. Some people find it fulfilling. Some find it disappointing. I never owned one so I can't offer personal experience.
There is, however, a fair amount of care and maintenance that people don't realize going in. They're heavy and hard to move. Ideally you have to support them properly or they end up with flat spots where they lay on the bed, chair, floor, etc. Fingers break easily. Tears develop sooner or later no matter what. Internal cleaning, if you're going to have sex with them, requires wrestling them into the shower or tub and douching, or setting up a way of douching somewhere else.
I don't want to talk you out of it. But it's an expensive purchase and unless you're wealthy enough to gamble and not care, you ought to check it out seriously at the website mentioned above. The people there are very friendly and helpful--if you treat them seriously.
There are also various other Realdoll alternatives which have various advantages and disadvantages. You may find something that works out well for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with DollForum, and I posted on there for a while a few years back.
I'm fully aware of the care and maintenence required, and have already decided that that wouldn't be that big of a deal if I decided to go through with it.
I've also checked out the alternatives like 1st-pc, 4woods, mechadoll, and even was seriously considering one from Lovable Dolls back when they were around.
Like I said before, this is an idea I've pondered and researched for years now. I'm mostly curious about how others look at it.
I'm not desperate for a woman, nor am I the lonely type who would get totally attached to it. I just think it would be awesome to have one of these things.

I saw some site (maybe on here) a few weeks back for some brand of dolls. They were very expensive and looked much better than most I see (which look like a pool toy), but they were like 2'6" tall... and I could appreciate that if the whole point of the doll was like mongo blowjob doll or something, but it was clearly more for vaginal sex... anyone care to explain this? Developed by Pygmys or what's the deal?

I'd have to see it. Depends on what it is. There are Teddy Babes, which are stuffed dolls that are akin to plushies. They're not full size.
Usually smaller stuff is made because it's lighter and less expensive. Full-size silicone dolls are very heavy, hard to move around (imagine trying to haul around a full-size, unconscious human being. Ain't easy), hard to store/hide, etc. Small size is usually a compromise rather than a goal.

Best looking dolls I've seen come from Japan and they're made of foam. They don't have skeletons so you can't "pose" them, but they're light and damn they're good looking if you paint them right. You use them with removable inserts (e.g. a Fleshlight) so you can get what you want, easy to swap out, clean and repair or replace when necessary. Can't do that with a Realdoll. If you tear the vagina on that, you're fucked (and not in a good way).

celluloidferox, forget everyone else if you want a doll go for it-as for bringing a doll "into" a relationship i seen a documentary about dolls (maybe it was a news story) and the guys wife was into them too.Maybe you could get your girlfriend/partner to watch Doppelganger from Burning Angel and see if she is freaked out by dolls or she might be curious and that is green light to maybe take things furhter?

She's not Japanese, she's a Hustler and she has a spot for an insert instead of a permanent orifice.

If you've always wanted one, go for it. People will tell you all kinds of stuff but my philosophy is that if it makes me happy and isn't against the law, I'm doing it.
As far as your other questions, I'm sure many women would be weirded out by it but then, as you say, the same ones are frequently weirded out by men who are very into porn anyway.
How would it affect your life? Well, I guess that depends on a lot of things. How big is your place? Do you have somewhere to put it where it would be relatively unlikely to be seen by casual visitors? Depending on what you bought, you'd almost certainly spend more time cleaning and maintaining it than just a quick cleanup with a tissue. People tend to develop a sort of weird relationship with things they have to clean. Like a man and his car. It might seem quite a bit weirder if you're polishing a sex doll so she sparkles need time you pull her out.
You could go the other way and say "I don't give a fuck what people think I'm gonna make this doll part of my life". And you could then position your sex doll in a chair in your living room for all to see and not make any effort to hide it.

An HVG (Hustler Virtual Girl)! I've never seen one in real life, just in photos and a video. A guy rigged up a suction device in an HVG's head and set it to bob up and down on his cock, so it gave him blow-jobs. Amazing video.
How did you end up with one?

She was originally purchased, by request, for a bachelor party I entertained at. She's only had sex with women, via pink double ended jelly dildo, although she has been finger-banged and extensively groped by men. She's in pristine condition, she stays stored in her original container, and she'd love a new home.

Not for me.
I can just imagine what my cousin would say if he discovered I had purchased a blow-up doll. It would be something along the lines of.."hey, the funeral home called..you got the job!"
Sounds like a journey to necropolis. Creepy.

And for all you know your cousin could already have a doll...or a porn collection just like your own.We all have our own little kinks and secrets that we like to keep private from family and some friends etc.

I think it would be a plus. It would allow you to drive in the carpool lane.

I think if you have that real live sex doll for too long, you'll get detached to women in a way. If you have that's fine, but understand that overtime, it could be harmful.
in my opinion, I would rather try and find a real woman to have sexual relationship with. So what I'll get turned down or get a drink thrown in my face, but that's just part of the experience. I wouldn't waste all my time or hard earned money on something that's supposed to be "life-like". I find it dismissive because its fake companionship. Some may find it a little scary.

They will be creeped the hell out. Buy one hide it real good when you have company. What they don't know won't hurt them right?

Oh my GOD! I think I've been HARMED! Not by a sex doll, though. I'm not real sure what did it but the instant I read this, I realized that I'm not attached to women and suddenly, my whole life made more sense. Now I understand why I've always felt like a person instead of an appendage.

I'd become paranoid of anyone discovering it and afraid that anyone would think I was dumping a body when I got rid of it (which would be the first thing I'd do after a test ride).

Did you hear about the guy who had so little shame about his Real Doll that between uses he had his standing on display in his house, for all to see? And his house was burglarized, but the bastard was caught when he used the Real Doll right there, in the display case? Yeah, the miscreant was charged with breaking and entering and statuary rape.
