There is a number of Hustler titles listed at the EroDVD site, and they are somewhat cheaper than the US DVDs, with free shipping and all that. (Also, there seems to be a number of audio and subtitle languages available on each disc.)

Has anyone tried these, and if so, how is the picture/sound quality, especially in the Barely Legal or Hot Showers titles?

So far I have one US Barely Legal DVD (#7), and technically it is by far the best porn DVD I have. On the other hand, it is quite possible that the quality can be destroyed in NTSC-PAL conversion. (I actually have one such example of a "butchered" Barely Legal title, but that is from a totally different company and not relevant here.)
If that is the case here, I'll rather pay the higher price for the US originals. Any information?

I've ordered three Hustler titles from EroDVD over the last few months, and I have no complaints about them at all. I had XXX 7, Young Sluts 1 and Platinum:Happy Birthday, so not exactly the same range you mention but the picture quality looked damn good to me (as usual for Hustler). I've had Hustler titles I bought from the US and from Soho unlicensed shops, and I can't see any difference in quality between those and ones from EroDVD.

I'm not sure whether there is any technical difference in the actual discs that are made for US or UK playback... the whole NTSC-PAL for VHS tapes was much more of a problem than these days, and my UK DVD player has no trouble playing US DVDs (adult or mainstream). I don't think there is a separate "master" for NTSC and PAL, but I could be wrong.

One thing that I don't quite understand is why there is typically different cover artwork for various Hustler series, especially the XXX and Barely Legal ones, depending on whether its a US sourced one or a Euro one. I don't have both discs to compare content and quality, but I suspect they are identical.

In summary, my opinion is: go for it. EroDVD is damn cheap!
I've never had any problem with DVDs I've bought from them.
