We had problems with people that hadn't posted in the forum for many years coming back and editing all of their old posts. I presume their wives caught them at something and traced their online alter egos to various places like our forum. This is why we implemented the no-edits after X days policy. [Link]

This is something I've never tested. Your account has moderator level access but isn't assigned to any sub-forums. It's a condition we've never used in the past. [Link]

It appears that the moderators are exempt from the rule in the forums in which they are moderators, but not the other forums. I tested this the other day when the idea of making Walter a moderator came up and got the same "Sorry, this post too old to be edited. Please contact a moderator or administrator if you need to edit the post." when I clicked on one of my posts in a forum in which I am not a moderator. [Link]
