I've owned a 30" Dell LCD monitor for almost 3 years now. It has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 but the only time I use that much screen is when I'm gaming. I leave the desktop resolution at 1920 x 1200 (NOT scaled) for web browsing and most other applications because I really don't need that much screen space for such tasks.
I just noticed today that there are distinctive vertical borders on my display right where 1920 x 1200 display border lays. I know LCDs are not immune from image retention, but I'm usually pretty careful about such things. I'll turn my monitor off if I'm away from my PC, but I guess all that time of using the 1920 x 1200 display area has proven to be too much.
I'm going to use the break in DVD that I used to break in my Plasma to see if it will get rid of the borders but I'm not sure if it will help. Perhaps I didn't notice till just now, but I think I should have detected this earlier if it was gonna happen, not 3 years later.
If the break in DVD doesn't reverse the damage, is there anything else I might try or am I fucked?
