I've just gotten space on this forum to place images, and I need to know the exact steps to copy images to the above space (I am not so computer literate). I know how to get into it with my username and password. So...

1. I have Internet Explorer 6.0; is this what I use to get images to my space, or something else?

2. Does it matter if they are jpg or bitmap images?

3. How do I put a company's watermark on the image before I post it to the space?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well as for uploading images I would use FlashFXP, I don't like IE as a FTP explorer. they should provide you with a server name (would be ftp://forum.adultdvdtalk.com I presume) and a login and pass. If you DO decide to use IE u can use ftp://login:pass@forum.adultdvdtalk.com as means of login into the server with your account

You will want to use jpg, more of a compressed image and far more space efficient

the watermarks can be put on with everything from paint that comes to windows to Adobe Photoshop...

As a side not I would resize the image THEN watermark it

1. You should use an FTP program to move the files to the FTP server. One that I like is SmartFTP.

2. They should be saved as JPEG to save bandwidth and storage space and should saved with a quality setting so that the file size is less than 50KB (compared to bitmaps which are often 20-50 times larger than that).

3. I use Irfanview. When you open the image you want to watermark, you use the mouse pointer and click & drag to create a box where you want the text to go, then press Control-T. Type your text, choose your font & color, then click OK. That should place the watermark text on the image. From there, you can save it in JPEG format.

Thanks Saki for the info. My new avatar was done using Irfan and the FTP program you suggested. It works like a charm.

^ Cute Avatar Renee , is the rabbit another one of yours ? For some reason (s)he looks a little cartoon-like to me . Probably too little sleep .

BTW , how do you add the copyright symbol to the watermark ? Is it a combination of keys to be pressed ? My brain's been flipping summersaults trying to work this one out !

For Windows computers, make sure the Num Lock light on the keyboard is illuminated. Then hold down the Alt key and then, without releasing the Alt, type 0169 on the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard before letting go of the Alt key. You should be rewarded with a © symbol.

With the latest version of Irfanview, it's simpler...there's a button in the add text box that says "Append Copyright" that does the same thing without having to remember the key combination.

It is not a photo, it is a detail from a watercolor done by an artist named Will Bullas. But, the rabbit (and the little duckling)were probably drawn from live animals.

The line "fluffy bunny tender sex" was from an ADT post, where someone wrote that if a porn fan doesn't like Max Hardcore, he should stick to fluffy bunny tender sex - as if there is nothing in porn between a Max film and a tender sex feature. Anyway, I like the sound of this quip.

Thanks for the help Saki . Thank God I've got Irfanview , the whole num lock , numeric keypad thingy wouldn't have worked for me . I'm on one of those newfangled laptops , don't you see ! Now to choose the font .... They give a nicely bewildering array of choices don't they !
Yeah , I like that quip as well . I'll have to take your word on the whole diversity point . As it's widely known the eleventh commandment reads - " Thou shalt not buy DVDs of the Max Hardcore . ". An obscure addendum to some of the latter editions of the Bible !
