They would make more money if she was doing porn and not just with him. He should be cool with it, it's just work and porn sex is different or whatever bs line he gave her so he can keep fucking other women.
I never heard of him, is he an OnlyFans pornstar or what?

The Jay Sin stuff should probably go into his thread since it will inevitably end up being duplicated there.

(Don't know if you'll be able to sign up to this site where you are, but if you can ...)

Yesterday's episode of this show where people with something in common answer questions on it from the public, featured porn actors including Angela White.

Not really interesting. Whenever a woman stops working in a sex industry and wants to be accepted in to mainstream society, she basically has to say such things.

formerly "the biggest porn star in the world" has called for the adult film industry to be made "illegal", saying she doesn't "think it's good for anyone".

"Lana Rhoades ... was 19 when she appeared in her first scene, going on to star in more than 250 films during her eight-month adult film careet"

"Rhoades, now a model and fashion designer, left the industry - which she said was "infested with drugs and alcohol abuse" - in 2017"

Now this is interesting. I've also heard young women who wanted sugar daddies say they didn't want to have sex with older men.

"For some reason I never comprehended that to do porn, you actually have to have sex with people,"

^ I believe it's Nina Hartley who said not everyone is cut out for the business and some people should absolutely not go into porn. I think it was pretty clear to everyone that Lana Rhoades had some personal issues that predate entry into the industry. Based on her comments here, such as having only had one sexual partner prior to shooting (!), porn was not the right choice for her. I don't doubt that porn is riddled with drugs, partying, and other stuff. Why would it be the exception to every other kind of entertainment industry? That said, a lot of this feels like projection.

I think her behavior here indicates she came into the industry with issues. She is in a very small club of adult industry members who are banned. As for drug and alcohol issues, every industry is rife. If people think porn is bad, they should check out the restaurant industry.

Spiegler normally does a pretty good job of screening potential clients, so it's a bit surprising that he chose to represent her.

Angela was 14 when she saw her first X-rated movie. Now she's called 'the Meryl Streep of porn'

"To keep all performers safe, pornstars work a 14 day test cycle, where they are medically tested for STIs and their results are entered into a centralised database for production companies and performers to access."

"Angela explains that scenes can take up to 12 hours to film, and often you're left feeling fatigued after a day on your feet, knees, and back, holding positions and repeating moves over and over again."

"one of the things that she's desperate to shed more light on to a wider audience is how to shake the stigma of sex work off.

"I do wish there was less stigma," she explains. "There's still structural discrimination against sex workers – and that includes things like it being much more difficult for sex workers to get a loan, to get rental properties, even in custody battles for children, where sex work can be used against the sex worker. So I wish that people understood more of the day-to-day difficulties of being a sex worker.""

----------------------

"repeating moves over and over again"

I did not know that. Is it like regular movies where they have to get it from a different angle, the director didn't like how it came out, ...

no, it's because they're running the clock and making it up as they go along also the penis is a muscle, it can't get hard on cue and stay hard for hours. They're also mixing acting and sexual performance.
lots of women think this way.

Well, based on that idea and the amounts that some of the people on OF make, the studios would go out of business real quick.

Porn star Angela White studied at Melbourne Uni to ‘know the enemy’

"White studied under former professor of political science Sheila Jeffreys, who was involved in setting up the first anti-pornography group in Britain in 1977.

Jeffreys wrote in Unpacking Queer Politics: “Pornography as propaganda, according to feminist analysis, represents women as objects who love to be abused, and teaches men practices of degradation and abuse to carry out upon women.”"

"In 2010 she wrote an honours thesis arguing that females in porn were either portrayed as helpless victims or empowered women with sexual agency, yet there had been little engagement with female performers themselves."

"I ask White about concerns that porn use leads to sexual violence. Research has found that women who’ve experienced intimate partner sexual violence believe pornography plays a role in their abuse."

The victim/agent divide is very tired and doesn’t actually look at the reality of what most people experience,” White says. “Of course both exist, but it’s a job for most people and it falls somewhere in the middle."”

"Mia Khalifa ... has claimed she was paid a pittance and that pornography companies “prey on callow young women”. "

"I ask White about concerns that porn use leads to sexual violence. Research has found that women who’ve experienced intimate partner sexual violence believe pornography plays a role in their abuse"

"McKee says much of the academic research in the area has confused correlation and causality, and a lot of it has been sexually conservative, disapproving of unmarried sex, kinky sex, and anal sex. “But beyond that we know very little about the relationship between consuming pornography and healthy sex.”

Adriana Chechik says she once threw things and stormed off set over the way a girl was treated

"I was watching a girl who couldn't speak English and she didn't want to do a scene."

"She was like 'na na na,' and then they started to just like 'Come on, don't you want to get paid? You just have to put up with it'.

"I literally went f***ing ape s**t, I pushed all the guys off me, I stood up, I f***ing screamed at the guy, I think I threw something at him.

"And I was like, 'You're f***ing ridiculous I'm not going to be an accomplice to this b******d. I'm not going to sit here and watch this."

Chechik said that the man then started yelling at her so she "started throwing s**t all around the room, breaking s**t so they couldn't use the set - then I left.""

Yeah, but the only time a construction worker drinking story is going to draw interest is when the crane falls from a 20 story building and kills people. Porn trainwreck stories are a dime a dozen and make for great clicks.

That's because people - and it's usually a dude - are often up to something in porn. Some people think just because everyone's naked that it's a free-for-all. Hell, some of them don't even think they have an obligation to tell scene partners when they have come up positive for an STI.
A crane isn't going to fall from a building every other week.

Generation Porn was a 3 part TV Series documentary made for Channel 4 in the UK in 2019 and follows various performers, producers, consumers and more, and is a real eye-opener

there is more porn made right now than at any time in the history of pornography.

IMDB Generation Porn

[mod edit: comment removed. We don't talk here about those types of sources for porn vids, so I can't allow it for non-porn vids either.]

You often hear women who work as waitresses in scantily clad adult venues say they are harassed far less there than they are as waitresses in regular venues. But I assume that has more to do with adult venues having security who'll approach the men if they step out of line than the men being more respectful in such venues.

On a related point, I read once on a porn actress's booking page that she will bring a chaperone to any booking, and that if anyone has an issue with that, to not book her. Anyone know how common that is for a porn actress to bring their own security?

I had some earlier thoughts related to this that got eaten in the site issues, but I guess I'd regurgitate it since it's relevant. Imgur, which is an image/clip hosting social service that was originally a Reddit offshoot, is banning porn:

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/04/hosting-site-imgur-will-remove-explicit-and-anonymous-content-next-month/

This shouldn't come as a surprise. Imgur had already made moves to downplay that material years ago. Mainstream social networks weren't created for porn. A number of them (Meta and Tiktok being the two largest) are very upfront in not wanting anything to do with that kind of content. The rest will simply tolerate it until it becomes a problem. In recent years, we've seen porn become a problem. The largest tube sites in the world have had payment processors pull out as companies have concerns over age, consent and (to a lesser extent) content piracy. They've found ways to survive because their entire business is porn. The thing is, all of those faults apply to the porn uploaded onto general social sites like Reddit and Twitter, too. Someone is eventually going to do a cost/benefit analysis. This famously backfired on Tumblr, but that's because there were other popular microblogging/image sharing sites (namely, Twitter) that audience could migrate to. It's hard to say how much it'll hurt a site like Imgur, because there are no general competitors. Its only competition for Reddit distribution is an alternative dedicated to porn. It should be noted, said alternative was actually split and sold off from another generalized clip sharing site that wanted to get rid of porn.

I didn't know this. Thanks for posting it. A lot of us here relied on Imgur to upload clips, GIFs and photos that were otherwise not permitted here. I have no idea what we'll use now.

Since Porn Hub came up on this thread, has anybody seen the documentary on Netflix titled "Money Shot?" What are you thoughts? I read various reviews and also saw some on YouTube, and am considering blogging about this from a sex worker's perspective. On the one hand, sites such as Porn Hub, Only Fans, etc. can increase sex workers' autonomy by giving them a platform to post and promote their own materials without having to work for studios. In this sense, it can increase safety where the sex workers can work from their territory in their familiar environment solo or with who they chose to. On the other hand, such sites and also (even if not intentionally) provide a platform for expoliters to post materials of people who did not consent, were deceived into it, or underage; and faciltate privacy and revenge porn. Under FOSTA/SESTA, my understanding is that the platforms can be sued and held legally responsible if this happens? Yet, can they reasonably be expected to know in every case? One of the safeguards is that various sites are only allowing verified users to post content. Doesn't guanantee anything, but just a precaution.

Though I've heard of this happening, I haven't personally seen it- though I didn't do all that many scenes. Whatever makes the performer feel safer is fine with me. Sometimes, they may bring agents or managers, though I never had any interest in bringing them. It seemed "pimp-like" to me, and in some cases, it may be about control on the part of the agent or manager (as they call themselves) where they track the performer's every move or so they can collect the money themselves. Or, to pressure the performer to do the scene if something isn't right-such as being told on arrival or during the scene they'll need to do something thesy didn't agree to ahead off time so they (the manager or agent) still gets their share of the money. That said, I realize there's different sides and if a performer brings somebody as a safety measure or for transportation rather than coersion, that's fine.

It'll be interesting to see how things evolve if Threads successfully displaces Twitter in the mainstream world. It's another Meta service, so it's as open to porn as Facebook and Instagram are, which is to say they aren't at all. The performers and industry could lose one of the few non-adult specific promotional vehicles they had. No more "person of notoriety liked porn post" publicity freebies either. It'll also help place a monetary value on pornographic content on mainstream social media, which may cause other platforms (at this point, mainly Reddit) to look at the benefits and cons of keeping that around.

(This is not a prediction that Threads will displace Twitter.)
