And the answer is: Yes! Every porn director is flawed. No two people want exactly the same thing from their porn.

I appreciate good direction (though I understand that the best performers may not need it), dynamic camerawork, and good editing. Two directors I'm feeling right now:

Mike Quasar: Girlvana 2 -- Two discs, hard and soft scenes, excellent videography. A new way to please the consumer, thank you very much.

Frank Bongiorno: Real XXX Letters and Girls Playing. Fresh and different.

And I forget the director's name but I saw a DVD from Stella Films that had a great erotic vibe.

The more people who have the opportunity to evaluate someone's work, the more chances that it's limitations are going to be noticed. Porn is inherently this way. The best directors have had some spectacular duds. It's just going to happen.

The day I find a director that does everything exactly the way I like it, with no nagging flaws is the day I'll pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

First I'm gonna defend the directors who actually perform on film, whether all the time or occasionally. The precedent for cameraman/studs was set from the beginning by John Stagnolia. Not necessarily sure that was his intention, but never-the-less, he did set it. Thing is, I don't really think any other performer can better interpret the originators ideas on film, provided the originator can actually perform on film, than the originator. For the most part, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've seen many cameraman/studs turn over their duties (whether shooting and/or fucking) to others, and the results generally aren't as exciting to me.

JULES JORDAN: I actually don't think Jules talks that much, and what talking he does do, I have no problems with. I generally won't buy any Jules films without at least one scene with him performing in it. I have no problems with the way he performs, but then again, I'm not judging him against anybody but himself...so why would I. And I personally wouldn't want Jules, or any other director that I like, to change their style too much. If it ain't broke, why try to fix it!

SEYMORE: The fact that there is a cameraperson, director, and a film crew, suggests to me that porn can never really be real. Just because it isn't real, doesn't mean it can't feel good though. From what I've seen of his work, most tend to enjoy themselves, which is all I can really ask for. Again I have no problems with the way he performs, or that he does.

Silvera: Here is a case where I have little to argue with you on. Silvera is by far my favorite director. Not saying he is perfect, but with me, he just gets it. I have pretty strict rules with what I'll watch, but Silvera is about the only director who'll I'll bend them for. I just think he's that good!
