I feel like I'm seeing it more often in scenes. I can't say that I find it hot personally (like receiving in real life, but won't be rifling through the scene thread). It's always nice that tastes are expanding I guess.
I absolutely despise F on M rimming with a burning passion, a burning passion that's about as hot as a thousand suns.
I go onto certain porn websites and it's gotten to the point where you'll even see THUMBNAILS of F rimming M which is a sign that it has gotten more popular and a lot worse.
I don't ever want to see F rimming M, and I don't ever want to see M in feminine positions.
@drdd75 Interesting. I hadn't thought of that angle - a feminine position. I hope no one flames you for that, because I hate that PC mindset. You may also be on to something. Maybe it is actually a femininity influence....whether guys being like that or more women watching.
In any case, I don't mind watching it in the "objective" way, like if I'm watching porn objectively, which I do. But, in my case I personally just don't want to see a guy's ass. Not a turn on, time to fast forward. Just looking at guys in a porn scene takes a certain practice for me. I almost prefer the guys to be faceless. Over time, I've relaxed to where certain guys seems like they might be someone I'd know in real life, and then it becomes more watchable. The mind works in weird ways.

It's a mood-killer for sure and I find it degrading, which says a lot for me.
Ass play, ball play, etc... isn't a big deal but the way the rimming is shown more and more often just comes off as desperation to shake up a scene with something new and edgy, much in the same way that choking and slapping found their way into porn.
On some level deep down it saddens me to see beautiful women doing it.

Also, the same reason there is an uptick in scenes with M on F pissing.
I'm not into it at all. This is one thing in particular that I can't stand about Blacked and Blacked Raw. And yes, I laugh at them putting it in the thumbnails...I guess that shows that a lot of people are loving it.

At least part of the appeal of porn for me is my attraction to the women. Knowing I'd still want to fuck the girl even though she's being naughty/dirty. But the thought of doing anything with a girl after she went to town on a man's asshole just grosses me out.
I guess it could be seen as degrading, maybe that's a turn on for some too. But it isn't intrinsically degrading. To be sad would suggest that you find it intrinsically degrading. Or no?

Pissing doesn't bother me as much because it's (ironically) not as foul to me in my mind. While I don't seek it out, I'm also not against it taking place in a scene I'm watching. For whatever reason, it just doesn't gross me out.
1st, F on M rimming has been popular for decades. I think it was part of the appeal of major stars/directors like Tom Byron & Rocco. It does appear to be increasingly visible. So, maybe it is growing in popularity. Of course, it's easily avoidable by simply skipping the rimming portion of the scene. It is not the 1970s. Nobody has to sit in a theater and watch the whole movie.
I don't know where the crime is in having an association that certain postures are feminine or masculine and associating that with bad or good. The beauty of representation is that everybody's going to have their own point of view. This proselytizing snowflake shit makes the world a worse place if you'd ask me.
Peeing is interesting. I had an ex that loved being peed on as a turn on. But for me, peeing is non-sexual and kind of funny. I think of pee as being antiseptic, and we had pee distance contests as kids. I wouldn't say it's a turn off, it's just neutral.

I can't say for sure whether rimming has become more popular because it's something that I've liked for many years so I'm not the best source since it's something I really like. Part of me says that it's more popular because it seems to be more widely available and people are talking about it more but the reality is that the internet allows people to talk about it more and allows more diversity of scenes.
One of the reasons I think that it hasn't necessarily grown in popularity is because when I look back at my early days of watching porn it did occur then as well. It was harder to find but then porn generally was harder to find because I actually had to get off my ass and go down to the adult video store to rent a VHS or, later, a DVD.
I could also argue that it's more popular and prevalent now because there are directors and actors who include it regularly. But 20 years ago I could often count on directors like Tom Byron to have rimming within scenes. When I compare that to today I can say the same thing. Directors like Bryan Gozzling, Mick Blue, Pierre Woodman and Mike Adriano all feature it regularly. I could say it is more popular because there are entire sites dedicated to it. The obvious example is Girls Rimming. But, even back in VHS and DVD days there were entire series devoted to it. Examples of those are Tom Byron's Ass Eaters Unanimous and another series called Ass Munchers.
So as a non-answer to your question, I really don't know. I think the internet has allowed so much diversity and allowed those of us who like a specific niche is to find it that someone who is interested in it can find things more easily and others may dabble in it a bit.

I don't want to take over the thread but in the interests of showing that rimming was pretty popular even years ago I'll mention another series where it figured large - Butt Licking Anal Whores. It was a series from JM Productions and went through at least 10 editions. ^ Yeah, Khan Tusion was the biggest downside to that series. I read Ashley Blue's autobiography a few years ago and learned that he was an even bigger asshole than what he came across as in his movies.
At the risk of completely hijacking this thread with favourite older rimming scenes, one of my all-time favourites is Naudia Nyce in Meat Pushin' in the Seat Cushion. This was a Tom Byron movie and back then you could always count on Tom to have some rimming. Besides the Naudia scene with rimming there were scenes with Alaura Eden and Taylor Rain that had rimming too.
What I like about the Naudia scene is how playful she is. The scene opens with Tom running the camera and coming up on Naudia and a guy on a couch. The guy is on his hands and knees and Naudia is in the same position with her face buried in the guy's ass. Tom conducts a brief interview with Naudia and she answers his questions while diving back in for some ass and then when the interview is over Tom tells her to get back to work and she dives in again.
I can't really explain why, but I love this scene.
