Perhaps you are right Midtown. Straight men making material featuring men for other men to wank off to is quite possibly an homoerotic undertaking. Once we acknowledge that, where will it take us?

Put women in charge of all porn production? Hmmm...That might not be a bad idea. My guess is the porn would be sexier, less abusive towards women, less gay male oriented and more physically and mentally stimulating.

I think you need to watch some of Mason's stuff, Midtown. It might open your mind a little to what women-directed porn would be like.

Those who fight hardest against, are usually the ones deepest in denial.

Come out already, Midtown. Are you just trying to get one of us to convince you?

And do you really think you'll see less man-ass from women directors? Dude, you're focusing on the wrong parts in those scenes. I think you need to take a closer look at yourself.

Agreed! I too often wonder if those that protest a little too much are hiding something. But not so much the "gay" thing, but other stuff. I mean why would this bother a person who deemed themselves straight? I really wanna know! I mean I know films can be subjective, but I feel like people who complain about stuff like this are watching either different films or different things on the screen.

There are plenty of women directors now, and I personally don't think their images are much different than their male counterparts. Candida Royale maybe, but not many, if any, others. And wouldn't a female director concentrate even more on the male body using your logic? I dunno, I just don't get it.

Oh so the onus should be on the viewer to avert their eyes because the director wanted to repeatedly fill up the screen with man butt? I overheard some guy complaining about the state of American society the other day. He concluded with "They even managed to ruin porn." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Most of us don't live in a black and white world, my friend. We are caught up in the gray.

I think bisexual/gay/lesbian/whatever relates to where one's emotions lie, and not to sex. Sex is just sex.

Maybe if the mere sight of a man's ass freaks you out so much. There are other kinds of Gonzo porn out there, some that even concentrate on one-on-one action. Personally I don't think any cameraperson is good enough to film any scene completely avoiding the guys ass. I suppose if you like watching a lot of close-ups you could find something you like. If not, maybe stick to POV Gonzo. I doubt many male performers are athletic enough to film their own asses while fucking at the same time. There's always softcore porn too. I just think you need to try different films.

This answer pretty much sums up the denial that is at the crux of this issue. I'm sorry, but if you're having gay sex or fantasizing about having it, then you're gay or at least bisexual. This has nothing at all to do with emotions and everything to do with actions, desires and intentions.

Furthermore, I think it is highly disingenuous for any person to desire or pursue same gender sex and yet contend that they are straight. At best, the person is - as I have suggested - living in denial. At worst, they are living a lie. Which is where I think the state of porn is today. "Gonzo" porn needs to come out of the closet. Just call it what it is - gay/bisexual - and please stop injecting it into titles marketed towards straight male audiences.

At the risk of getting too involved in this absurd thread, it's as simple as this. If it didn't sell, they wouldn't make it. Plain and simple. Pornographers are in this business to make money, not to see how many people they can trick into buying their product. However, if that's the case, then by all means do it because the sheep are eatin' it up and coming back for more!

As long as the guys are fucking the girls gonzo isn't gay or bisexual. I haven't seen one gonzo movies where one guy is fucking another guy. Gonzo and feature movies are both movies for straight people. The only difference is that the sex in gonzo movies is rougher, harder and more extreme. And more extreme often means more guys fucking a girl in a scene.

Who the fuck do you think you are trying to force labels on people?

Who ever said that this stuff is marketed towards straight people?

Why do you even bother watching porn?

You're obviously a homophobe. Why don't you go bury your nose in a bible already?

Hey, have you ever heard of companies like Sin City? They repackage the same scenes under 100 different compilations with absolutely no qualms about tricking the consumer into buying the same material multiple times. I honestly think that most porn producers have very little respect for their audiences. They've ceded the female market with all of the abusive and degrading material they are pumping out. Regarding their male market, these same producers have no problem with retitling the same material, labeling videos as having a girl who isn't even in the movie, etc. It's almost like the abuse that is directed at the woman on screen flows over into abuse of the male consumer.

The problem is that your ridiculously broad definition of "gay" leaves those you are willing to identify as "straight males" such a tiny fraction of the population that, even with the current burgeoning of ever-more specialists and niche genres in porn, still they would be too limited a market for any pornographer to bother targetting. In the end, in fact, it would be a market of one person. For it seems that the only preferences you are willing to recognise as "straight" are your own. There is only one straight male in all the world and you are it. Bully for you.

Try and get your head round this idea: just because some people have different tastes to yours doesn't mean their preferences are illegitimate, non-heterosexual, morally corrupt, whatever; it is possible for some people to like things in porn that you don't like and for them still to be as boringly and conventionally straight as yourself. You are not the yardstick of what is legitimate heterosexual desire and what is not. Stop thinking you are.

What he said. A close-minded porn viewer is more than a little ironic.

To summarize, unless your definition of "gonzo" differs from everybody else's then, no, gonzo porn isn't gay porn in disguise.

There have always been, for want of a better term, "non-conventional" sex acts portrayed in porn. Always. I agree that there's more of it to be found now than ever, but no conspiracy theory is needed to understand why. Two things have happened which have increased the number of "non-conventional" acts in movies.

First, places like AdultDVDTalk allow more fans to interact with those in the industry, so there's more feedback on customer demand. Is it more realistic feedback? Well, I won't say it accurately reflects the overall porn-buying public, but it's probably better than what producers are getting from their distributors.

Second, there's been an explosion of porn companies competing for consumer dollars. This makes expanding into "non-conventional" lines more attractive financially. While you might be competing with 100 other companies in the all-anal market, you might be competing with 10 in the strap-on market. The implications are obvious.

So, let's say a group of posters are clamoring for more strap-on scenes. Pornographers are obviously not too concerned about convention, so it shouldn't surprise you that the industry will explore any market opportunity. Do you suppose an exploration will take the form of an all-strap-on title or one scene in a more conventional movie? Obviously, the latter is the safer route. If strap-on fans don't like your effort then there are still consumers who may buy your movie for the other 'normal' scenes.

Sure, some directors may promote "non-conventional" acts for the simple reason that they like those acts. So? They don't owe anybody a particular type of porn. If their DVD's are that unwatchable then they'll be forced out of business. Hooray for the free market!

Finally, given the wide variety of interests expressed by porn viewers in these forums, it is obviously a rare DVD indeed where every scene is to any particular viewer's tastes. That's why everybody is wondering what all the fuss is about. So there was a strap-on scene included in the all-sex DVD you watched. Big deal. If you're really that uptight about it then look on the bright side - you're going to save a TON of money being that picky about your porn purchases.

Further evidence of what I'm talking about - most online porn rental sites include bisexual and transvestite titles among their "straight" porn titles. So, today for instance, I did a general search of new "straight" porn titles. I had to wade through titles such as Jerry Goes Bi, Big Ass Transx Winkers #4 and Transsexual Beauty Queens #29. People can be as upset as they want at me for raising this issue. But, it is undeniable that porn is leaning heavily towards gay and bisexual material. Why this is the case I don't know. I do know, however, that I'm not the only one disappointed with the de-emphasis of women in porn. Any kind of renaissance in straight porn is going to involve a pretty simple formula - prettier women (as opposed to girls who'll do anything for a buck) and material that emphasizes the fantasy of seducing and satisfying those women (as opposed to material that focuses on degrading them).

P.S. - If, after reading through this thread, you have concerns you might be gay, try taking this test.

Ahhh, but OF COURSE...it can only be one of those two situations! Thank you for clarifying that for all of us, Professor.
Can Skronk do a Podcast while all this is going on?
I somehow get the feeling he doesn't rent anything at all, or support the industry very much...period. He just generalizes & associates things like "gonzo" based on some his 1 porn per year allowance at the institute for gay studies, or thereabouts.

As a guy, I think I can relate...as oft been said by a few male posters, the stand-out to us is that there is a beautiful young girl, who is willing to suck off the entire football team, let them DP her, then cum in her mouth & swallow...

...yes, the kind of hot, dirty girl most of us will never be lucky enough to get. THAT is the appeal of gonzo, not watching swinging sacks & pecker sandwiches. But somehow, this particular thread originator likes to focus on that, and blame it on the genre. Something makes me wonder he has these tendacies instead, and is testing the waters to see if such a view is accepted or not.

Which did absolutely nothing to prove your original contention that gonzo is gay. Or did they have features in an entirely seperate "so straight that you are in denial" section?

If a straight man fantasizes about g/g sex, are they lesbian? If he fantasizes about a threeway where the women interact, is he gay or bisexual? It would be a bisexual sex act.

Are you insane? Now you wanna have people take some so-called "gay" test. I can't figure out if your in denial, seriously homophobic, or just plain ignorant. The hell is the matter with you? If you don't think any good Gonzo porn exists anymore, watch the fucking Disney channel, or better yet, get some money together and show us how it should be done. Your posts are getting more ridiculous by the minute, and you've proven nothing.
I'm convinced the "gay" straight porn your talking about exists only in your mind. If not, give some real examples to back up your claims?

Croy, he obviously watches Law & Order way too much, and takes facilitation cases far too seriously.

And I agree with you, just as it is the parents responsibility for those kids who get their hands on porn. The "but it's aimed at / advertised all over" argument is a bunch of shit.

Once again, you label things which you have "0" knowledge of as "abusive". Or, that which you're too ignorant to acknowledge as anything else.

I guess the guys of Jackass are "abusive" to themselves, no adventurous and testing their own limits...regardless how entertaining it is. Right?

Aurora Snow's Dirty Dykes always comes to mind as a touching, feminine flick. I just love it when Tory Lane jams Vanessa's face into the toilet. Now that is what I call love....sigh!

4 out of 5 (or better ratio even) have tried to drill this into this stubborn character. His mind is made up, there is no point in trying to convince him otherwise.
