What I want to know is if you folks think it would be better to do that right now or buy a newer mother board and install a newer dual core CPU. Also any thoughts about getting a new MoBo would be great. Please. And any personal experiences about running SLI cards or a single card would be great as well. (I use nVidia stuff) So the question is: Should I get a new MoBo or keep mine? Thanks. [Link] |

Are there any Dual Core processors my board would support? Thanks. I am not just passing all of my research off to the forum I am just itching to upgrade because Crysis plays like shit and I am anticipating FarCry 2 (etc). EDIT: damn. that chart is not promising. Perhaps they thought it would work when they designed the box but never managed to implement it. Since that may be the case do you have any recommendations for a mother board? I have no requirements except that it accept a dual core chip. I think that it is probably not worth bothering with SLI this time around. Edited by - conquistador on 2/3/2008 10:32:00 AM |

For gaming, the stuff I read always emphasizes the graphics card and its specs. I haven't looked up your board - Can you use a PCI-E video card in it? Newegg has some real hot rods according to the things I read. But they cost... upwards of $200. Some to $300. p.s. If you do consider a high performance video card, be sure you have an adequate power supply, with some head room to spare. Edited by - willywilly on 2/9/2008 5:38:24 PM |

As for games and such, they do help. When I got my E6600 it was one of the better gaming CPUs out there. The GFX card is a major factor, but a kick ass GFX card and crap CPU, you will get bottlenecking info, killing that nice GFX card's perfoamnce. The Core2Duos are the chips to have for gaming, although that was a year or so ago, I'm not so up on the quad core specs, they could even be better for all I know. And I looked on Tom's Hardware about comparing that new Phenom to it's Intel equivalent, and the Intel still came out on time. I do so need to check up on those new CPUs... P.S. conquistador, NewEgg is the best ever... I refuse to shop anywhere else. World Class Adult Reviews Edited by - PL on 2/9/2008 10:26:14 PM |
