I know that everyone is tired of talking about the Female Pornstars that will not work with Black male talent. A couple of months ago I asked Lexington Steele a question on his website and this is the response I got.
Why do you hire stars that don’t do interracial like Alexis Texas and
Carmela Bing to be in some of your movies?
In regards to casting girls that do not do interracial, this is something that many people have inquired about. Well, to put it bluntly: there are many popular girls that generate increased sales by their inclusion in a movie, that do not do black guys. I am in this business as owner of Mercenary Pictures to generate revenues by the sale of adult oriented media. Therefore, if a girl does not want to work with me or the other black men that I cast in Mercenary titles, I cast her with men that she will work with that I hire regularly and are not black. Pornography is not a place for political statements. Matter of fact, I make movies with one thing in mind: that is, the movie must be make someone want to masturbate to it. Remember my friend, this is about hot women and hot women are why there are pornos. I am ‘so over’ trippin’ on a chick not doing interracial. In most cases, a girl that does not do interracial may not be hired by me because I have a greater necessity for interracial scenes. This is about money and I won’t hold her politics against her. If I hire a girl that does not do black guys, it is because I know she will generate sales for me.Thusly, the casting of Alexis Texas, Carmella Bang. In the end, she gets paid; I get paid; the buyer is happy because this hot girl is in the movie….we all should be happy. Life is too short to trip on this. This is porno, for god sake.
Finally, I realize that a few may regard this as me being a sell-out; this would be untrue. I am ultimately just another businessman with a product to sell.
Let me know what you guys think?

You could take this to the next extreme and ask why a black porn entrepreneur would "sell-out" by making interracial porn in the first place. I don't have any statistics handy, but we all know it sells way more than black girl/guy porn. And the resources that go into shooting and promoting interracial porn with white girls are resources that could be used to showcase good black female talent. If someone really cared about racial equality or fairness in the adult entertainment industry, shouldn't they do their best to see that the sistas get at least as much opportunity to work and make money as their Caucasian counterparts?
Just playing devil's advocate obviously, but it shows how ridiculous it is to inject politics into porn. Like Lex himself said, the name of the business is hot women and making movies people will masturbate to, not making political statements.

If by "sellout" you mean "sells a lot of videos", then yeah, he is.
Well played, Lexington. +1 and all that stuff.
Edited for runaway comma.

I'm not mad any white girl who doesn't want to have sex with a Black male performer, that is her choice. I on the other hand just won't be buying any of her movies. Money is very important but so are principles. There are plenty of women white, black, latino and asisan that don't have a problem doing interacial. Just put them on the cover and you could still sell the same number of DVDs.

Dude, that is precisely what you need to do and please STFU!!

What was the whole point of starting this stupid thread in the first place? What part of Lex's brilliant response did you not understand? If your whole aim was to smear Lex's name, then congratulations coz you failed spectacularly!
Mods, please check jni1973's IP address. I'm sure its the work of Nimrod. He's tragically obsessed with alexis texas, carmella bing and ashlynn brooke, he even posts as MrBing, MrTexas and MrBrooke on various internet porn forums.
Seriously, this thread should be locked up or deleted altogether ASAP.

I'm not obsessed with any of those ladies. I simply asked Lex a question and I put it on this Forum so that I could hear what everyone else had to say about it. Why are you so upset about it? I thought that the whole point of this Forum was for industry insiders and fans to speak their mind. Like I said I could careless about those who don't do interracial because I don't buy their movies. I also have know no desire to smear the the brothers name either but I do have the right to my opinion....

Again, with me, as long as no one is being outright discriminated against, I have no problems with it. Lex hires way too many black male performers, some he's somewhat competing with by the way, for me to ever think he's discriminating against his own kind. It should be noted that Lex doesn't direct every film his company produces either.

Yeah, I've tried to explain this on other forums. For some reason IR fans have turned on Lex,Marcus and Sean. Saying bullshit like they're selling out because they work with, hire and ask to do scenes with dodgers. It might your life/hobby but it's a business to them. So, i don't blame them for doing what they need to do. Lex when he was at his height of popularity spoke out about the way the biz treats black men. Now IR is one of the biggest genres around. They have all paid their dues, and I hope they have as much success as possible.
With that being said, Most IR fans aren't going to buy a movie with Alexis Texas or Carmella Bing just because they're in it unless it's with a black man. Maybe the casual fan but not the hardcore fans. So, it seems like a waste. But, that's just me. I'm not going to attack him personally over it. That's fucking lame.
edit- I agree with Pentasa, it's probably Nimrod. Notice he didnt deny it. If it's not him, I apologize. If it is him, i feel sorry for you.

Would a white racist make a movie for a black director? That seems pretty unlikely to me. Maybe these no-IR girls aren't racist after all. Maybe they're just selfish and immature. Whoa! Who'd a thunk it?!
Getting a very popular performer to be in your movie is a great way to get eyeballs for the whole movie, not to mention being a smart financial move. That being so, Steele isn't selling out, he's actually promoting product to people who might not normally even give it a glance. You should be cheering him on.

Totally good business, you would be an idiot if you did not maximise your profits due to emotional/personal feelings, how daft would that be? So what if Alexis Texis don't do IR Tori Black does, Bobbi Star does so many pornstars do, Can't think of anything worse than say Alexis Texas or Taylor Rayne doing IR and you know they are hating it but are doing it for the pay check leaving no room for imagination. There is so much porn out there to satisfy most of us and much more to come........

Lex HAS paid his dues and he is right about it from a business perspective of course, but let's not forget that this is the same man who took girls like Serenity and Jenna Jameson to the mat in the late 90's for not doing IR and refusing to work with him. I totally agree with the sentiment expressed in the email, it just seems odd coming from him...

Porn is a business. If you are in porn you are in it for money, so *shockingly* Lex is doing what he feels will make him the most money - it doesn't make him any more of a sell out than anyone else in porn.
Personally, I don't get interracial porn anyway... but there are plenty of flicks that are 100% interracial - stick to those if it really bothers you.

Is there ever gunna be a day when black guys are going to give it a rest....Notice, no question mark after that sentence. I know the answer....It's too bad....You guys turn this board into a race war with every star here.
L.S. He is black; NO
And still the rants continue. He's not black enough.....What? He hires hot white chicks for his movies. ???
You know...when you start turning on each other...that's when I stand over here and shake my head.
I know that it's 2009 and a common saying is: can't we all get along...that would be a start. Why don't you guys start with each other.
No -- never mind. Shit, us white guys haven't done such a bang up job over the years. Think -- Ted Kennedy...He is our hero.... I'd rather fuck a duck.
Bottom line -- we are all fucked -- . In the USA
I for one know it....wanna join the club? No skin color required.

It's not just "black guys" who won't give it a rest, but white guys like me who have been really annoyed by discriminatory policies against black sex workers in the adult video and film industry.
I applaud JNI1973 for starting this thread and pointing out Lexington Steele's hypocrisy. But with Steele, you have to understand he comes from Wall Street, the architect of our current financial woes, where untrammeled greed rules the day. There never was a principle that he couldn't spell as p-r-i-n-c-i-p-a-l.
Perfomer Jordan Lee was intimidated out of the business when she refused to work with Jews and Blacks. There were few, if any, objections. But when the target of a performer's refusal is a Black male, lots of folks suddenly discover a libertarian bug up their ass and start to whine about the right to choose.
With Barack Obama as President, this issue will have a long shelf life. Get used to it.

What does Barack Obama have to do with anything.
We all need to stop being baited by people using the IR issue just to start drama. Ever notice the people that start these thread always have under 100 posts? They're just alias of people that need to get lives.
I tried to start a thread where us IR fans can talk about the genre without all the bullshit. No one really cares to talk about IR unless it's to stir up shit. It's almost getting to the point where i avoid all IR thread except for the one I started.

All those people that are calling this topic Race Baiting are Freak'n crazy. I just don't think that you guys really understand what I was trying to get at. If Lex had never complained about Jenna Jameson and all of those girls a few years ago I would have never posted that e-mail. If he was just another pornstar (who just happened to be black) and said those things then I wouldn't have posted it at all.

YES he is just like mr.marcus, tee reel, sean michaels. A lot of black male pornstars are sellouts.
i hate how they all sellout to dodgers and are best friends with them. Using those sluts in their movies and shit like LEx/sean does. Like mr.marcus behind the scenes begging for scenes. Thinking hes something special after begging for so long and gettin to do a scene with jenaveve jolie after shes fucked 1,000 white dicks later. Tee reel is best friends with ashlynn brooke and she is a racist...sean marcus lex tee get might get a extra girl or 2 who usually wont do scenes with blacks because they beg and are uncle toms behind the scenes.
the uncle tom behavior doesnt stop with these guys.

It wouldn't be at all daft. What would be daft would be getting into a business where your choices were being able to make enough money (however you define that) or being able to look yourself in the mirror. If you can't do both then you really are in the wrong business.

Hi Hardware, we are talking porn here not any other business, if you are a producer/distributor of porn your prime objective is to make a product that will sell and have the greatest profit margin available to you is it not? Within the porn industry there are parameters you are confined to that will determine how much revenue you can attract, i.e, all white, all black, interracial b/g, g/g etc., stray outside this and revenue will decrease regardless of your personal preference hence the emotional/personal aspect i referred to unless revenue is not your prime objective, and Lexinghton Steele does not hide the fact that this is his objective. As for looking youself in the mirror i presume you are talking about the fact that Lexington Steele pays these girls a fee to be in his films where he controls the budget and pays the very people he despises within the industry in order to maximise his revenue. I ask you this, how many of us work with people whom we do not agree with their lifestyles and personal choices i.e gay, black, white, political beliefs, religion etc., and push our own morals and beliefs aside but then work along side the very people we disagree with, it's called WORK, and the purpose is economic, and we do this for our ouselves and our families and any other aspects that are part of our decision process. I may be wrong but i bet there are many of us that don't have an issue with looking in the mirror when we come from work; but feel pretty good when we do satisfied that we have earned yet another dollar, same applies here i feel.

Well, it is always interesting to see someone completely miss the boat.
Had you read my first remarks, you would realize that I have nothing against Steele or the way he conducts his business. At least, I hope you would realize that, but I admit that your post leaves me in some doubt.
At any rate, I was simply saying that your broad assertion that one should only be in business to make as much money as possible is a view I don't agree with. If you hate every minute of what you do then I think you'll find that the money loses its attraction very quickly. This is why most psychologists will tell you to find work that you love, then think about how to make money at it.
PS - I don't believe you'll find me saying "dodgers" or "Uncle Tom" anywhere on these boards, so kindly refrain from putting those words into my mouth.

Sellout and racist are some very strong terms; especially when there are some REAL racists and sellouts out there. Think long and hard before you throw that label on somebody. Especially somebody you frankly don't know.

Why are you calling Ashylnn a racist? I know that when she was asked if she was dating Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, she denied it and said she will never do a black man in her personal life or professionally. But lots of girls have said similar things in the past and no one called them racist. As far as Carmella Bing goes, she said she doesn't do IR because she isn't attracted to any of the black males in the industry right now.

I'm sure it breaks Lex' heart that he will never get in Alexis or Carmella's pants but I'm sure he's got a family to feed. If they make him money, why not? Even though I'm black I wouldn't mind doing business with David Duke if it will make me good money.

Sorry if this has been covered, as I haven't read all the posts yet. And sorry for the wordiness.
Your example is flawed. The problem in your post is "ask why a black porn entrepreneur would "sell-out" by making interracial porn in the first place." I don't think the issue is lack of opportunity for black guys or girls. When people comment on IR, and girls who won't do it, they probably mean "Why would you pay the salary of a girl(or pay for her videos if you're the customer), of a girl who stays away from you just because you're black?" It goes against everyone's common sense and nature to employ or spend money chasing someone or something irrationally against you, and that's not just a porn thing. I wouldn't spend money at a place that had a sign on the wall reading, "You're welcome here to shop, but stay away from us, and don't expect us to ever shop where you people work." And your coworkers could only insult your intelligence or family a couple times before you don't invite him to lunch anymore.
Your post seems to have an unstated assumption that I wouldn't want to sleep with a white girl, so IR porn must be selling out, as if black guys should only have sex with black girls. I'm a black guy, and race is completely unimportant to me in my private life. Therefore, watching porn where white girls an white guys, white girl/black guy, black girl/white guy, black guy/black girl, a guy with a celtics hat and a cowboys jersey and a girl with a lakers hat and giants jersey...I don't care...
As for the thread topic...It might be selling out in some pure culturally common sense(doing something you are totally against because of the money involved), but so what? I'm not going to hang out with them, and they don't necessarily even have to hang out with each other. It's no better or worse than a girl being in porn just for money...or shopping at walmart regardless of how they treat their employees for that matter.
I'm sure that I've worked with at least a couple racists in my time at some of the world's biggest companies like chrysler. I'm sure there are jews who have to work with anti-semites, etc...I'm not about to quit my job because they are there, so why should Steele be expected to?
Lastly, neither racial prejudice nor the reaction of people who live with it everyday is politics.

Of course, Steele doesn't have to work with them - he's the boss who chooses to hire anti-IR women when there are plenty of hot white women willing to give it up for him. Let's be clear - this isn't about meeting the mortgage or any other venal excuse - it's about some serious lack of self-esteem on the producer's part. Your first paragraph nailed it pretty good.
Making money is one thing. Being able to live with yourself is also powerful, as Steele will find out if he has any smidgen of conscience left.
Someone who financially enables racists has no right to bitch and moan about the persistence of racism. In cases like these, the victims are to blame.

I may have pushed it a little bit with the David Duke example but all I'm trying to say is that you can do business with someone you don't like or who doesn't like you. Lex once said that those girls who refuse to work with black men just have a personal preference just like he doesn't like to work with girls he isn't attracted to either. I know that in less than 20% of the cases, that attraction argument maybe true but I don't buy it. The fact that the same girls who bring up that argument work with the Ron Jeremy of the 90s and 2000s makes that argument hard to believe.
