Er, um, well this is kind of a silly post. But I'll ask it anyway. I bought a jelly dildo today from a store, and the lady said it was water-safe, as you use water to clean it. But I guess that's only half my question. See, I want to use the dildo in the shower, as that is really the only place where the butt is loose and clean (it seems like poop just magically appears whenever I get out of the shower!). Anyway, I thought I'd ask this before using the dildo tonight.

Also, I discovered I absolutely should not use oil-based lubricants with jelly rubber. Im disappointed as I used a kind of vaseline for lubrication and don't really want to go buy some K-Y or what have you - also, wouldn't water based lubricants dissipate quickly in the shower?

Anyway, er...would it be ok to use hand lotion as lube? As far as the dildo is concerned, I mean. Would the lotion ruin the jelly?

Thanks for your replies.

Not that I can tell, I use regular lotion all the time with my jelly-dildo. I also use X-10 beads w/ lotion. I usully mix the lotion with a lube like "WET" so it slides in and out easier.

About you worrying about the water based lubes dispating in the shower, I'd assume that's what would happen. But I usually face towards the water so that way not very much H20 hits my ass while I'm fucking myself. But if you want to jackoff (or finger as the case might be for you) you might have to find a diff lube. I use soap.

You've already bought the dildo, why not splurge and go out and get a quality lubricant? Astroglide is about $20 for a 12 oz bottle, but you use such a small amount that you could fuck yourself everyday and still have enough for a whole year. This lubricant would dissolve in water, so you may want to apply the lube to the dildo, clean yourself, and then insert the dildo. The lube will stay on the dildo so long as it's not directly exposed to water.

a very easy way around this is to use a condom with your dildo - something you should be using with jelly rubber anyway. if you want to get into why (chemicals can leak out of the material over time), we can start a new thread, but in short, a condom will keep you safe as well as allow you to use silicone lube.
