All the retailers say ordinary airmail does not guarantee delivery as it may be lost in the post.I can see that while you can take a chance with one or two DVDs,delivering a large number via airmail may be too risky.

Has anyone not come across lost shipment? Is it common?

And as far as customs is concerned. what is safer--airmail or international express?

No, air-mail isn't safe at all.
My experience over the last 3 years is:
50 % will arrive without customs fee
20 % will arrive at your customs office office with 20 % customs fee
15 % is stolen on the post way and
15 % is confiscated by customs

Irt would be better if you would try other ways of shipping !

Of course air mail is safe. Like any shipping method there are risks, you're simply not insured against them if anything goes wrong. Most of the adult DVD companies leave you completely high and dry if your package goes amiss, but that's because they want you to stump up for UPS or DHL shipping. There are a few companies that don't (and in fairness to the majority of companies, I won't name them, but they are mentioned frequently in this forum). If you're buying in material that can fall foul of the local laws, then UPS or DHL won't help - in fact they'll bill you for Customs paperwork. However, if you absolutely positively have to have your porn the next day and you can afford it, then the extra shipping charges might be worth it (but I don't think so).

According to Cheap_USA_DVD ,15% is lost (presumably stolen)in the post, and another 15% is seized by customs(admittedly
in Germany?). Ouch! That seems way too high , does it not?

If that is true, I don't see how you can justify delivery by mail. More input on this from other people would be appreciated.

Longbow - fuck knows who cheap_dvd_usa is or whatever the fuck his name is - but he's a bogus poster - don't listen to the bullshit he says.

When I made my first order of porn from the US, I was always worried about whether it woudl turn up or not. Hell who can tell? I don't trust postmen and that package has got quite a distance to travel from USA and goes through a lot of people.

I would advise you to just do a little order (say two dvd's at most) if it arrives then fair enough. If it doesn't arrive - then you just got teh answer to your question.

I've had about 20 orders from USA to UK arrive perfectly. when teh first one does go missing (touch wood it doesn't) then I will rethink my shipping plans. But as you are in HK who know? just try it and see - if it fails try an express courier.

Well, I've had two orders gone missing in the post, one quite recently, both were sent by ordinary air mail.

However I find that some US companies makes provisions for sending to the UK and automatically send the DVDs in paper sleeves without the plastic DVD casings and in a Global Priority Mail envelope. There is no extra charge for this and without wanting to tempt fate, I've yet to lose a order (about 6-7) when it has been sent this way.

Not sure about Hong Kong though. You would have to enquire with them what posting options they can offer you besides ordinary airmail if you feel thats not safe enough. Are the customs there in Hong Kong very strict? I do remember visiting Hong Kong a few years ago and while there were plenty of softcore porn availible especially on VCD, I couldn't find any hardcore stuff on sale. Is it illegal there?

I've never lost any of my many orders (USA to UK ) from Lasersedge who use the regular air mail as their cheapest international shipping option. Also received OK the one order I made from Fivestar using that method.

Based on my personal experience over many years I'd say this shipping option is very safe.

Maybe your title was backordered? But in this case you should have got an E-mail giving you your order status.

If a title is back ordered it can take more than four weeks, even for the UK, delivery time have been from about two weeks (item in stock) to more than eight weeks (worst case scenario, back order that take a long time to get back in stock). If in doubt just E-mail them and ask...

Yes they do with that shipping method (regular airmail), maybe they can ship without cases if you ask.

Received an order from Laser's Edge yesterday. Took very slightly longer than "normal" but everything's in order. I admit to having had some trouble with delivery to suburban areas, but the postal service to Melbourne CBD is much more reliable.

How long do they usually take to arrive from Laser's Edge? Going to make my first order with them soon and I'm just curious about their delivery times.

As with most international delivery to Australia, the "usual" time is about 2 weeks (anywhere from 12 to 16 days). This package came in at about 18 days, but most importantly it arrived safely. I don't care about speed anywhere near as much as reliability.
