PRIVATE will never be compared to Vivid or Wicked. Both companies are geared towards couples, and that's just the opposite with PRIVATE. PRIVATE has some of the best hardcore sex I have ever seen. PRIVATE does thier own thing, and that's what makes them unique.[Link] |

I guess I should try and clarify myself a little on what I was trying to say. Private does make very good films that are more hardcore than they are softcore, however their films do feature some storylines in between the sex scenes which could appeal to the couples market albeit you would have to like the harder sex scene as well. Wicked does seem to do this type of film and Anabolic/ Diabolic does not and that is what I was going for. Personally I like both Private and Wicked as they feature some very hot women doing really great sex scenes and having more to choose from is nothing but a good thing in my book.[Link] |

I haven't experienced the pleasure of seeing a Private DVD yet, but I did just watch my first-ever disc from Vivid Wave. In my opinion, the sex scenes were very soft, gentle and short. I enjoy that once in a while, but if this disc is at all representative, then a steady diet nothing but Vivid would bore me to tears.The audio/visual quality was only average, at best. Vivid is like the watered down beer you get at a rave.
Wicked is like a fine wine you get at an upscale restaurant.
Private is like a shot of whiskey from an unmarketed bottle in a dark bar.Each are acquired tastes and have their market. My problems with Vivid stem more from the wooden sex with good looking clock watchers and waste of money. My problems with Private stem from the often over rated direction, the sameness of sex acts, and the bad dubbing. The real Private ceased to exist sometime ago. Now some Porn Company called "Private" makes movies for the cable/couples market only. Looking like a Vivid/Wicked, european appendix. If you get to see a real hardcore scene, chances are it will be watered down by special effects. These days, it is so bad that even the lecastel's videos (X-treme) have lesbian scenes in it. qrop - here we go... first off, I don't agree at all with your summation of the Private situation. Granted, Woodman has left Private and that has left a different feel on the remaining company. I personally don't miss Woodman at all, although I know many of my fellow ADT'ers do. In any case, to compare today's Private to Vivid is absolutely ludicrous. Private is still hardcore and caters to anal fans worldwide using beautiful girls. That has not changed. What has changed are the expectations of today's raincoat crowd who now demand double and triple everything! The fact that Private has not gone this route (and I, personally, am very glad) does not make them watered-down Vivid couples porn! I mean, get real! Sorry aybesea, I have to agree with qrop, and I have no interest in double or triple anything. However, I do want my movies to run over two hours in length, and Private have made their movies shorter and shorter over the past few years, so that 75 minute run times are typical. And the focus of the acts in these movies has changed from being geared to appeal to fans of raunchy sex to being more "pretty and respectable." Put these together, and it says that their focus now is having product ready for showing on satelite TV.
This isn't necessarily good or bad, but for my taste, I'm growing ever fonder of my collection of Pierre Woodman DVDs, many close to 3 hours in running time. Again, I'm not looking for any double or triple stuffing, I don't even care much for the "normal" DP, and I still find almost all of the recent Private releases I've seen to be very unsatisfying. But I think a Wicked fan such as Astroknight, for example, would enjoy them very much. I'm trying hard here not to state this as a judgement, except in the sense that the Private releases of the last 18 months DO have a different feel from Private titles of the past.[Link] |

Mmmhh, there aren't a lot of Vivid fans over there. I disagree, I've seen a good deal of private videos (pre and post-Woodman) and always found the sex cold & robotic. The girls are beautiful & the guys too, ther's anal, facial, dp, whatever,just name it, but it lacks HEAT. This thread started before my time here at ADT, but I'm glad it has been resurrected so I can throw my two cents in.Hey to each his own. Sure everyone has their own tastes, but I think it is just an out and out misrepresentation to say these two companies are equivalents. Planet Sex has spotted what is the only reasonable comparison, both companies employ some extremely good looking women. They are both very well marketed companies, but in my opinion that is just about all you can compare. It is rather ridiculous to compare them in any other manner. I agree it does seem like Private is producing more product for cable, as well as making a much more serious effort to grab a share of the U.S. market. However I think their company has grown into one of the most impressive porn conglomerates in the world. I can not think of another company that offers more styles of porn. Even their magazines are fantastic. They have done a masterful job of branding their lines, and products. I don't think there is a company out there that can be depended on for the same level of consistency. You buy a Private title and 9 times out of ten your going to get exactly what you thought you were going to get. Ok it may not be the Private that brought us Woodman or Thring, but its no Vivid. I agree with Speelie. Private is giving less for your money these days, if somebody haven't noticed this by now, all I can think of is than that person discovered Private only last Christmas when he got his DVD player as a gift. These days Private not only gives less fuck for your money with lezbo, and a lot of one on one scenes (basicly what you will find in Vivid & Wicked videos) but the length of their movies are just ridiculous. For example The Reality series was usually 90 mn long now the latest title is 75 minutes only. ..Adamo's is the same thing, the difference here is the slow motion that gives you the illusion of a longer video.[Link] |

Comparing Vivid to Private is an insult to Private eventhough they have become softer with directors like Adamo, Ninn and Kovi. The can never replace a great director like Woodman and to me Castel is the only director there who is still directing good movies. I still wish he would bring back the Matador serie.[Link] |
