Firstly, it seems they have no new movies after next week. However, I guess that probably down to their lame ass web master who can't update consistantly.

Secondly, do they have any directors except that Del Toro dude?

Okay, fine, I'm putting my hand up to direct for Red Light District. I know, I know, it's always risky getting an unknown to take over such a lofty post, and I don't have a lot of experience but here's what I CAN do:

1. Shoot female talent and encourage them, if they need to spit, to do it AWAY from the camera lens

2. Teach them how to use their armpit for holding dildos, rather than actual cocks.

3. Shoot them smiling during sex, like, I don't know, they're ENJOYING IT or something.

4. When there are two girls in a scene, make sure neither leaves without the "snowball avalanche", where the guy comes in one's mouth, she snowballs into another, and then snowballs it into the other girls gaping ass, which girl 1 then cumshits into the other girls gaping ass. Bring on the snowball avalanche trend!

5. Oh yeah, if there are two girls, get them stacked against each other in back-to-back piledriver, the most underrated position in porn.

So, do I get the job?

With a new release like Fuck Dolls 7 from Jake Malone (one of the best porn series, from one of the top active directors in the biz), how can you possibly think they are dying?

Someone should run a scorecard of who's what with those studios, though ... I mean, all I've seen lately has been either Jake or Brandon titles. (The Jake Malone titles are so popular at BushDVD that I've been waiting for them for weeks and weeks now ... )

Some recent titles I've seen not by those guys have not been impressive at all. The James Avalon titles were pretty great, though ... big goof not keeping him around but, shock! I guess they had to actually *spend some money* on things like lights and camera and locations for Avalon's features so, well, forget it. At least guys like Jake can take the basics (a room, a couch, a new babe) and make something stylish out of it, but he's certainly an exception to the norm.

Just got some new Jake smut upon arriving home last night, Sex Slaves seems in the mold of his other releases though just a different title but it has all the earmarks of a romantic Jake Malone interlude.

One of the now rare good titles from one of the remaining few good directors hardly constitutes a reason not to think they are dying. RLD is definitely a shell of its former self. This is the last known release from the company, until they update their website of course. I even checked XRent, they have no new releases on there either.

But it did answer the original posters question about whether there are any other directors other than Del Toro.

That comment wasn't really asking seriously, it was more a stab at them for the amount of stuff he seems to direct compared to other directors.

Agreed. I pretty much stay away from RLD/PXP at this point. Avalon's films usually felt a bit compromised, as if the threesome or orgy or cumswapping DP scene was forced on him just because it's RLD. However, by the end, She Bangs , I thought he was real close to making it work. Too bad they gave up. I guess the prestige from the Darkside nominations and the planned-but-seemingly-never-executed exploration of PPV with his films just didn't do it for them. I thought he had moved to Adam & Eve, but I have yet to see any sign of that.

I have given up seeing their new releases lately as it is really a waste of money and time. I just want more John Strong and Michael Stefano's direction works as they are the only shining point for me to concern plx/RLD now.

Ultrasiet2 if it was up to me you'd start shooting next week.

RLD, for all it's limitations creatively -and there were many- at least freed itself from the moralistic bullshit that continues to shackle much of this industry.
Aside from the arguable missteps into the misogynistic realm where over half the industry ventured as well, RLD chose wisely to explore the physically expicit side of porn.
They became damn good at it, everyone knew they were good at it, and their titles rarely suggested otherwise.
Who knows? It may have ultimately been their undoing, but it remains a simple concept, film the product that you know your business wants, and deliver it.

Got to admit, I like snowballing alot. But as Ultrasiet2 mentioned, you rarely see a girl snowballing into another girls' mouth and then snowballing into a girl's gaping ass.
I think there should be more emphasis on this type of sex act.

Would you settle for a girl draining an anal creampie into her mouth and then snowballing that to another girl's mouth (maybe even the girl it came out of)?

I'm just messing with you... but you probably just came in your pants thinking about it

The worst part about this thread is the lack of input from RLD/PXP. Historically their directors never miss an opportunity to plug their product.

I guess for true RLD PXP fans lets just hope that the extended weekend is the reason for the lack of input. Lord knows you say feet and Brandon comes runnin with a "10 Little Piggies" punchline and mention any star and Jewel will swear that there "PXP" release is a career scene.

As much as I dislike gross self promotion, the lack of it here worries me.

What would be funny is that if RLD really was dying, that the disease killing it had a name which abbreviated as RLD. You know, like Rigid Lingam Deterioration (RLD).

'Mr Del Toro, you won't be able to work anymore. The company that employs you suffers from RLD. Unfortunately, Viagra and Cialis won't help with this. Making better movies might, but this condition prevents you from making good movies.'

'Jees, that's bad doc. It makes me so angry, I want to...to...spit!'

'As long as it's not into a camera. We already have a sufferer of PXP (Phlegm Xpectoration Problem). He's dying too.'

This would then be the cue for a certain Platinum X director to jump onto the thread to say:

'You wouldn't be dying if you had A Good Source of Iron pills, like you're meant to.'

(That was my homage to both Brandon and the Pimp.)

A recent Jake Malone movie (5/8 release) Boy Fucks Girl has never been listed on their PlatinumX website. If you do a search even now it will come back no results found.

Jake, what's the deal?

I don't think these companies are dying as much as their websites are dying. There have been numerous problems for quite a while now that several of the directors have addressed on this site. It doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Since RLD lost Dion, I would naturally assume that they fade away. Very sad. I had the pleasure of meeting Dion prior to RLD while he was still with Elegant Angel at a pool party, and he was SO into his work and providing customers with a quality product. I am very happy that he was able to accomplish a dream and saddened that he had to leave due to personal reasons.

Dying?

I hope not - I've been reasonably happy with recent titles. Or at the very least the great box covers. I'd expect the websites to be updated Tuesday or Wednesday with another bunch of winners.

On a slightly related note - did the cause of that web snafu ever become known? Was it a hack job or an inside job?

A lot of changes have been made and we just got rid of our webmaster thank god as he was horrible didn't do a damn thing to update anything. I really think the company direction has been compromised by our GM but hopefully the changes will work in the future. At this point I'm still doing what I need to on my end but I cannot speak for others. To be honest it's not the vision I'd intended for Platinum.

Porn companies are at times like ghost ships, you catch a glimpe of them through the fog and all you can make out is the sillouete of a once proud tradition
of man and beast. She's silent as she cuts through
the water alone, almost without purpose, a craft
without charts, the decks barren of activity. Then just
when everyone thinks it's all over , she spots port and a
fresh group of thrill seeking new bloods board
and the adventure begins a new.

Let's plan this out so everyone -- even Ramsey -- will finally be happy. Lube up your armpits and let's get them fucked properly.

As the sun has set on Memorial Day, let us all pause to remember the sacrifices that were made by the Armed Services so that we can debate such useless trivia such as this. I can only imagine that some prescient grunt at Normandy was thinking, "God, I hope Paris Hilton will fuck her boyfriend on tape someday. It'll all be worth it. Storm the beaches!"

Spin! Spin! Just like THANK YOU FOR SMOKING.

I will, but only if you tell me you're releasing a Canadian-performer-only extreme blowjob series called 'Canuck ukk! ukk! ukk!'

Come on, nobody can accuse that title of sounding like a Mike John film.

I have a tiny bit of insight to add to the 'seriously interested' here...since I worked on a few of RLD pics as cameraman and had an assortment of experiences to donate some small amount of insider news to this post.

What I saw happening at RLD was what seems to happen at a lot of mainstream studios. The content of any particular company tends to suck big time when management (lets call them the "clueless") is made up of people that have no knowledge of the filmmaking process. To make it seem like they're doing something for their paycheck, the clueless attempt to orient the hired guns in any particular direction. Since the clueless are in fact...clueless, that direction is a tad lost (and completely frustrating to the filmmakers hired to do a job). On top of that, in Red Light's own case, I felt they had some fella's in these Very Important Positions that have no true love for porn...perhaps even a little disdain for the medium. Wrong. (It's like a rudderless ship captained by folks that hate water.)

I have to add that this was insight gleaned from time spent at Red Light a little while ago, so things may have changed or are changing...perhaps. But as a filmmaker, I have to implore the owners of these companies to hire guys in management not so clueless, with just a little love of what they oversee. Then trust the guys that they hire to do the job. Respect for people goes a long way too (but I may be asking for too much).

Still, Jake, Brandon and John are continuing to gallantly hold down the fort.

I agree with you Rich 100% there are a few people in high positions at RLD/PX that are clueless and make decesions they have no business making as they don't know the business they just know how to put their mindless 2 cents in and collect a check that is a waste of time and money. I'm very disapointed in the direction of some of the management that's been going on. Just take for instance I had Georgia Peach booked for LA Erotica and a few others they got canned by some guy who's never once paid his dues in this industy just because he wanted to be in control and choose girls he wanted instead of the ones us as directors wanted to use for obviouse reasons we know who truely has what it takes not some guy who sit's behind a desk and has a power trip. I hope the management get's changed that's the only way it will work and make everyone happy or else we all suffer.

Damn. I never thought I'd stir similar sentiment from someone else so powerful and pretty inside the RLD/PXP camp. I was trying so hard not to be controversial or obvious too.

Again, unless certain managerial people had a chance to work with talent, they would not have much to say about talent showing up with a charismatic smile, or even just showing up. To use his own tastes to defer a reliable, amiable and hot gal like Georgia Peach is pure baloney. I HAVE been in the same room (shooting her) while she performed and know what will be missing from the RLD/PXP booth.

Well my position is running my own movies as I own them and hiring directors to shoot and I fund there movies as well. As for the company stuff that's all run internal and it's not the vision I had for the company. I don't make day to day decesions I just own my stuff and it's distributed through PXP the company I started. When we merged over to RLD the distibution end was taken by RLD along with all management decesions. I have full control over what I shoot and my directors shoot that's my only end at the company for now.

Gunth,

Some owners of some company's run everything, including overseeing production. But some company's hire other folk to be general managers or heads of production so that they can go golfing more often, or something like that I guess. A real big mistake in business is when some company owners hire best friends that haven't ever worked in that particular industry. If the latter happens then changing management is not so easy for the big guy, even if he made a big mistake.

Yes and I'm confident he will work out all the bugs and take care of the confusion that's been caused. Alot of decesions right now have kinks in them but they are being worked out for the better to make both companies stronger we just merged with several other companies and there are mistakes that were made but that's business, all the changes are for the better and will work out in the future. All the bad decesion makers have been replaced for the better. I don't make executive decesions with the company I do the best I can at PX to make good movies that I own and use the hottest girls for my fans and I hope you will still enjoy my work and others it will get better for everyone once we are settled with all the new changes are smoothed over. We are all trying to make it work but it's hard when the finger get's pointed at me since many of you still thought I made decesions on PX's behalf. I tend to take it very personal since I put my heart into PX I just want it to be a great company and put out good product and it get's on my nerves being blamed for things I have no control over. I hope I've cleared the air on this and have given everyone a better understanding of what's going on. And I do hope our future won't die out just bare with us through this transisional period.

Thanks for clearing everything up. Myself along with everyone else have been trying to figure what has been going on for a while. It started with the website, then everything seemed to go downhill. Its good that you are here and can take the time to let the fans know what is going on. No other company does what Platinum X does, and it would be a real loss for the consumer if it disappears.

Well there were many people on behalf of or Gm making decesions that didn't work out. Some people that were hired under him didn't go over well but since then they've been replaced. But in business you have to hire and fire to weed out the workers that shouldn't of been in business positions that they were in. And many people including our GM were compromised with to much on their plates with new companies coming in under one roof. Both companies have done a lot of hiring to feel positions to help pick up the slack that may of been occuring. Many of you have emailed me with concerns about why PX was started out with Performer/Star directors only and now have changed well when we merged that was part of the changes wasn't my vision in the start but it's been working out thus far. Maybe some of you feel we are dying because the market is flooded and when that happens all companies suffer. I think many of you are tired or feel our movies are getting boring is because you are getting too much product from the same directors. Each director has their own style and you tend to get jaded when you see the style over and over again no matter how great the movie is. I only put out one movie a month and I do well maybe in the future we'll go back to doing one release a week to keep it fresh but that's not my decesion so you'll have to send your inquires elsewhere and not to me. I can only promise my movies not the weekly releases The companies have been revamped hopefully you'll notice the changes just bare with us during this transisional period.
