| Smiler Grogan All-Star Member the war cry 14790 Posts 1/08 | Or when there's no choice -- Taylor Swift and Adele sold tons of their most recent physical cds because they weren't available on streaming. Why weren't they victims of piracy? Because their fans love them. But there's only certain artists that get that kind of devotion. There are some porn fans with that type of devotion towards certain girls. But I'd wager many of them are still apt to go to the tubes. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | Which is why performers are figuring out more and more ways to get those fans to be able to pay them directly. From cam shows to custom videos to selling merch to convention appearances to private snapchats to services like SextPanther and Dream Lover. I've said this before, but we will probably get to the point where most companies aren't making money purely off production (at best, they'll be breaking even because there will always be some people that are willing to pay for it), and the money will be made in ancillary ways and the videos will basically serve as advertisements for other things. And I don't mean something like product placement so much as the performers will shoot for mainstream companies to get more people to watch their cam shows, the mainstream companies will sign the performers up to do something like using their own streaming platform or their own direct-to-fans service (as a simple example, the Dream Lover is owned by the same people that own Naughty America). The mainstream companies that don't figure out how to diversify themselves are the ones that will be left behind. |

For the light porn user, who just wants to watch porn with as few clicks as possible and without getting out the credit card, wants to get off in 20 min or less and move on, and has no interest in saving content, tubes are they way they go. The tube model of marketing is terrible for the industry, it needs to change, and I believe that someday it will. Edited by - LPee23 on 2/13/2017 10:15:05 AM |

While Americans can join almost any site and the price is always in US dollars. The same can't be said for other Countries and this is especially true of Europeans Countries. While you and I can join a site advertising a price of 20$ US. Someone in Europe will instead see the price as 20Euros. |

They are pretty ubiquitous and not going anywhere. Your best bet is to use No Script or a similar browser add on to block non-essential cookies, and also to delete your cookies and browser history periodically. |
| yourmomma Member 279 Posts 10/14 | but 20 years ago, porn was different than it is now. and 20 years before that, it was different. It went from something you had to go to a movie theater to view, to VHS to DVD to websites... it evolves. Many sites have already evolved because of tube sites. Porn will evolve again. The only thing that will kill porn off completely is if people stop masturbating. I don't see that happening as long as people have genitals and touching said genitals is pleasurable. |

| Hardware All-Star Member Your other left 14595 Posts 3/02 | 'Porn induced erectile dysfunction' is actually masturbation-induced erectile dysfunction, and it is only dysfunctional in the sense that your brain has been trained to expect A, and it is not happy getting B, instead. That is to say, not only does sexual intercourse feel different from masturbation, but it requires an entirely different mental interaction. However, the 'cure' to your problem is easy enough - simply refrain from masturbating. Whether or not you continue to watch porn is irrelevant. Soon enough, your sex life will be good as new. Or, as bad as always, depending on your skills in the bedroom, and when I say 'skills', I don't just mean physical ability. Edited by - hardware on 6/2/2017 10:21:42 AM |

| Stickypickle Member 10 Posts 6/17 | For me, I bought some DVDs from Andrew Blake, and was also into Kobe Tai and Asia Carrera, so bought into their DVDs; but eventually had to give all my "stuff" away. Over the years I transitioned from Strip Clubs to P4P, because frankly I got tired of the tease. I'm not paying if I can't participate or interact in some way. Recently the amateurs sites like Swap Smut, and Black on White, or just Google any kind of amature sex video and I can see just about anything for free at low quality resolution. I joined this adult talk site because as I was searching for my favorite stars, Ange Venus, and Heidi Ho, I saw forums where fans and porn insiders were discussing and sharing info. Don't know how many consumers are like me, but I suspect there are a lot of us that enjoy interacting with people of porn. I would have no problem paying for access to a porn star that I liked. So maybe that's where the future dollars will go. As far as porn scenes; I'd rather watch some low quality, limited camera angles, or iPhone vid of people actually getting it on and enjoying it rather than some of the pristine pro videos with actors. |

| Gore Gore Girl Doctor of the Erotic Arts 7238 Posts 1/09 | I also suggest you consider the difference between someone with "compulsive sexual behavior" and "porn addict," as one of those articles conflates the two. Did you read the linked Cambridge study? It's rather different from the article's summary when you separate out the terms. Also, the dopamine argument has been debunked several times as gravely misleading. It sounds scary, though, when attached to porn so people find it compelling. I'm guessing we would find it less compelling to argue that our brains light up like crack addicts when we see cookies or a new episode of Project Runway. |

Bottom line: societal shame, religious beliefs, sex negativity, and guilt construct a belief in porn addiction that doesn't actually exist. | Gore Gore Girl Doctor of the Erotic Arts 7238 Posts 1/09 | The third link is pretty explicit about their results: "The rates of organic causes of erectile dysfunction in this age cohort are extremely low, so the increase in erectile dysfunction that we have seen over time for this group needs to be explained," Christman said. "We believe that pornography use may be one piece to that puzzle. Our data does not suggest that it is the only explanation, however." As for testimonials, yes there are plenty. This corresponds with the arguments of the articles I linked. |
| LCF All-Star Member Non Prevalebunt! 10364 Posts 1/05 | Also there's a number of semi-benign diseases whose long term effects are unknown , nobody is overly concerned when he gets a sore cold even though it's incurable , it's infective , it's a virus and when trasmigrates to different organs can be very nasty , for reasons unknown people gets concerned only when it reaches the genitals and is recognized with its scientific name of herpes (either simplex or genitalis) Men aren't concerned about clamidya which is a problem for our female population when a male is infected most likely doesn't even get aware of that , though it's unlikely that such a disease stays dormant forever or does nothing to the body and what about the PFCs (Fluorocarbon compounds) whose effect are only studied recently? Its a completely manmade strong compound non-existent in nature where is no organic reaction able to dismantle it , we're absorbing it in the last 50 years , the authorities keep downing the limit of tolerance for human beings even though it was and probably still is one of the most commonly used material for containers for food (there's an international protocol limiting its use but some Countries didn't sign it , namely China from which half the world buys chep containers and plastic bags for food When you do some studies about something on a scale as massive scale as porn consuming , then you have to rule out everything else who has a even more massive diffusion, if you don't you won't be able to know what of all three possible causes are actually the real culprit of a problem besides why I see something biased on those studies ? why I only see problems with men but not women? That would have been interesting? Is there an actual effect on the brain ? If so are women hit by it? is the percentage similar to that of male population? is there a difference? Is the sexual dysfunction mutually enhanced if both members of a couple are porn consumers? Is there a proportion on the damage? What is the amount of porn one could watch to stay safe? What is the usage of porn or the temporal extention of its use that induces addiction? one hour per week ? 2? One per day? How is that this addiction doesn't require a more massive dosage as time passes while using it? Is there any comparison of porn consumption with the kind of porn watched? For example those who watch BDSM only have the same problems of those who watch only anal? Is there a difference between straight and gay consumers? Is there a difference with mostly active gays and mostly passive gays? In nature anything that exists with an actual effect can be measured , those question would provide the means to actually measure and study a porn addiction. and BTW I have seen that picture or one very similar to that about those who play videogames. And I was wandering did they take into account wheter or not their specimens played videogames? If so, what kind of videogames? And so on and on Edited by - LCF on 6/2/2017 6:06:33 PM |

| nineischarm Member 39 Posts 4/17 | Dr. Mehmet Oz discussing PIED http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/can-porn-cause-erectile-dysfunction-pt-1 Urologist and Director of Men's Health Boston, Dr. Abraham Morgentaler from Harvard http://sexualhealthmen.com/blog/porn-induced-erectile-dysfunction-pied/ The name for this new form of impotence is Porn-induced Erectile Dysfunction (PIED). When the problem is in the head and not the pants, however, oftentimes ED medications won't work. Forums online team with thousands of young men who are suffering from PIED. Urologist and Director of Men's Health Boston, Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, is worried about the affect instant access to a deluge of online pornography is having on us as sexual beings. "I see young men coming in who are really confused about what normal is because all they know about sex is what they've seen on porn," Dr. Morgentaler said in a recent interview. In the Victorian age, Dr. Morgentaler points out, men swooned over seeing an ankle. In the 60's it was the mini-skirt. But today there are no surprises. And we all have access to any kind of porn we want at any time. The good doctor went on to say, "I think that the concern is what porn has figured out is what really works for the brain of the guys. It's the maximum stimulus." The porn industry has gotten very good at delivering its product, perhaps too good. This ever-prevalent access has changed the psychology of some guys but also their biochemistry. Dopamine levels have changed drastically. The newest research just coming out of Cambridge University likens the brains of excessive porn watchers to alcoholics and those addicted to drugs. Those who are overstimulated by online porn then have trouble being aroused by real, offline sex. Symptoms of PIED include Irritability, anxiety, feelings of insecurity, depression, and physical problems such as lack of appetite and insomnia can also occur. In extreme instances sufferers may have suicidal thoughts thinking they'll never have an erection again, or that they broke themselves. Some unscrupulous doctors will prescribe medication and tell their patients that it's performance anxiety they're suffering from.
