And for those who don't know I work in an apartment building doing maintenance and moving furniture and fridges and ovens around and so on. I want to know if anyone knows about headphones that will stand up to abuse. They don't have to sound great, and I have never had ones that had nice bass response. The music is mostly to pass the time painting or shoveling show, it doesn't have to be perfect. The requirements are that they be able to survive in a pants pocked that may suffer the occasional impact and they must have at least an 8 foot cord. That's it. Any help would be great. Thanks. Ear buds are better then any other type because if you tug on them the pull out, that is handy when dealing with power tools. [Link]

But the price is liek $14 US so I wouldn't expect a whole lot. They always looked fairly durable to me and Koss has a lifetime no questions replacement on all their phones. Of course, you'd probably spend more sending them in for replacement than they cost but...... [Link]

If they last more then a month or 2 they will have paid for themselves in my mind. If you get some headphones (Circumaural) ones, then you wont have a prob. finding 8feet of cord, but then they will be too big to fit in your pocket. [Link]

I don't know about cord length or comfort or sound, but worth considering a different approach...just think of them as disposable from the outset. I'm sure RadioShack has an extension cable to acheive the required total length. [Link]

Hell, it's difficult to get expensive ones that sound good. Edit - An 8 foot cord on an earbud or a canal phone might be tough to find.
